Filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri has released the teaser for his upcoming film, The Bengal Files, the concluding chapter in his trilogy following The Tashkent Files and The Kashmir Files. The teaser opens with a haunting voiceover from a Kashmiri Pandit character, warning that Bengal is on the verge of becoming 'another Kashmir.' What follows is a montage of violent imagery: bloodied faces, armed men, and a woman's scream piercing through the chaos. By the end, a stark message appears on screen —'If Kashmir hurt you, Bengal will haunt you.'

The film introduces a huge ensemble cast. Darshan Kumaar plays Shiva Pandit, Mithun Chakraborty appears as a Madman, Anupam Kher portrays Gandhi, and Pallavi Joshi takes on the role of Maa Bharati. Actors Dibyendu Bhattacharya and Saswata Chatterjee also make brief but notable appearances. Produced by Abhishek Agarwal and Pallavi Joshi, The Bengal Files explores what Agnihotri calls the 'right to life'—a thematic continuation of his previous films, which centred on the right to truth (The Tashkent Files) and the right to justice (The Kashmir Files). He has described this final chapter as 'an experience in history' that interrogates India's identity amid cultural and political conflict, with a particular focus on Bengal's overlooked narratives.
Originally titled The Delhi Files: Bengal Chapter, the film was recently renamed The Bengal Files, and is set to explore the fundamental question: What is India? An earlier teaser featured Mithun Chakraborty solemnly reading the Preamble to the Indian Constitution. Agnihotri's past films have sparked intense debate and polarized public opinion, yet achieved commercial success. With The Bengal Files slated for release on September 5, anticipation, and scrutiny, is once again mounting.
