Bihar cabinet clears over INR 1,800 crore in water projects, boosts education and welfare jobs
PATNA: The Bihar Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister
, approved 47 key agendas spanning over urban development, education, social welfare, infrastructure, and administrative reforms.

This was the first cabinet meeting in about two weeks, and significant, given the wide-ranging decisions taken.
Under the Urban Development and Civic Infrastructure, Phulwari and Danapur Nagar Parishads have been upgraded to Municipal Corporations.
Major funding has been approved for water supply projects. For Ara, the Cabinet has approved Rs 138 crore, Rs 1,130 crore for Siwan, Rs 76 crore for Sasaram and Rs 497 crore for Aurangabad.
In the Education and Social Welfare Departments, the Cabinet has approved the Buxar-Rohtas Residential School.
Contract-based posts sanctioned for Bihar Jeevika Nidhi Credit Cooperative, nine posts of Krishi Seva (Agriculture Service) created, 935 posts of Assistant Education Development Officer approved and 190 posts in the Social Welfare Department.
The Cabinet has also approved two amendments, including Bihar Polytechnic Education Service Rules, 2025 and Bihar Engineering Education Service Rules, 2025.
The Bihar cabinet has also approved 38 posts of Assistant Land Property Officer and 15 clerk posts for the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC).
The cabinet has also approved the establishment of the District Organising Area Officer Office in every district, and a housing project for senior police officers in Chhajju Bagh, Patna.
It has also approved the dismissal of Jitendra Kumar, Drug Inspector, Patna-5 and Jatashankar Pandey, District Minority Officer, Jamui.

The state cabinet has approved the appointment of Protection Officers for victims of domestic violence.
Land in Naubatpur was granted to the Akshaya Patra Foundation (Bengaluru) to support mid-day meal services in schools.
Besides, the state cabinet has enhanced the pay scale for Central Prohibition Inspectors, Value Added Tax reduction on Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) to boost air connectivity and approved fire safety measures under the Building Construction Department.
The decisions come at a time of increasing scrutiny over state governance, especially around law and order and public service delivery.

Infrastructure projects like the Rs 10.31 crore Olinda-Bohru link road, Rs 12.22 crore roads from Saili to Handola via Kamoon Patti and from Saili Mahadev Temple via GPS Lubowal, and Rs 10.73 crore Rural Livelihood Centre building in Bangana were also inaugurated. Foundation stones were laid for upgrades to lift drinking water schemes worth Rs 2.35 crore in six villages, a Rs 10.59 crore irrigation scheme in Boul and Moh Khas, and rainwater harvesting structures costing Rs 7.20 crore across four locations. Further, the Chief Minister laid the foundation for a Rs 6.72 crore residential complex for the State Taxes and Excise Enforcement Office at Una, Rs 5.98 crore for road projects connecting Khuruni to Khairian via multiple villages, Rs 10.44 crore under NABARD for bridge construction in five areas, and Rs 33.59 crore for road construction from Bhiyambi to Barsar. Himachal CM Sukhu inaugurates Rs 75.10 crore development projects in Gagret, criticizes BJP for financial distress
Shimla (Himachal Pradesh) [India], June 7 (ANI): Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Saturday inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for development projects worth Rs 75.10 crore in the Gagret Assembly Constituency while launching a sharp critique against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for pushing the state into financial distress through mismanagement and excessive borrowing during its previous regime, as per an official release. Addressing a public meeting at Daulatpur Chowk in Una district, Sukhu announced initiatives like a 400-metre span bridge on the Swan River, water supply schemes, and healthcare improvements, alongside his government's commitment to economic recovery through tough decisions, as the state aims to become self-reliant amidst ongoing challenges. Sukhu stated that during its regime, the BJP kept on boasting about the 'double engine Sarkar' but could not significantly contribute to the development of the state and raised loans from the Centre, thus pushing the state into a financial crisis. He stated that to make Himachal Pradesh self-reliant, the government was determined to take some harsh decisions to improve the economy with the cooperation of the people of the State. Sukhu highlighted projects like the Daulatpur-Bhadrakali road, in which Rs 15 crore had been spent; Gagret Hospital's new building; and the upcoming Hoshiarpur-Nadaun four-lane road, while assuring the filling of vacant doctor posts and addressing water scarcity through tube wells. The Himachal Pradesh CM also mentioned the Bulk Drug Park in Haroli, set to begin construction soon. He further criticised the BJP's education policies for dropping Himachal's ranking to 21st, leading to school mergers for quality education. As per the release, the other development initiatives include a Rs 42.82 crore bridge on the Amb-Ambota road, four bridges under PMGSY-III costing Rs 2.70 crore, and infrastructure projects like the Government Degree College Daulatpur Chowk building at Rs 2.79 crore and water schemes totalling Rs 16.57 crore across multiple villages. Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri also noted a Rs 170 crore investment in Gagret's water schemes, criticising the Centre for sanctioning only Rs 137 crore of the expected Rs 2,000 crore, and affirmed the state's advocacy for its due funds. AAP government in Punjab has been built on foundation of lies, alleges Haryana CM
New Delhi [India], June 7 (ANI): Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini launched a scathing attack on the Punjab Government today, alleging that the AAP government in Punjab has been built on a foundation of lies. He said the government 'has neither undertaken any meaningful work for public welfare nor does it have the will to do so'. Speaking to reporters in Sangrur, Punjab, CM Nayab Singh Saini alleged that the Punjab government has completely failed to fulfill the promises it made during the elections. He said that their 'deception has already been exposed in Delhi, as lies cannot survive for long'. Saini said that in Punjab, too, 'public support for the AAP government has eroded, and people are ready to show them the door'. According to a release, the Chief Minister said that for the past 11 years, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, public welfare schemes are being effectively implemented in Haryana. The trust of the people in the government's policies and working style has only grown stronger. Referring to the Ludhiana by-election, he said that people there have made up their minds that Punjab too should move ahead swiftly under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership. The Chief Minister alleged that the Punjab Government is not implementing the Central Government's welfare schemes, depriving the public of their benefits. In contrast, the Haryana Government is procuring all crops from farmers at Minimum Support Price (MSP). He urged the Punjab Government to show concern for its farmers and ensure they receive fair prices for their produce. He said that the Haryana Government has provided over Rs. 15,500 crore as compensation to farmers for crop damage due to natural disasters over the past 10 years. Additionally, vegetable farmers are receiving compensation under the Bhavantar Bharpai Yojana. People in Haryana are also benefiting from the Ayushman Bharat scheme, whereas the people of Punjab remain deprived of its benefits, said the Chief Minister. (ANI)
