Luke Littler has Luke Humphries backing as English stars target glory in Germany
The two rivals will join forces in the 15th edition of the PDC event, which gets under way in Frankfurt on Thursday.
Littler had previously claimed in April he would skip tournaments in Germany after being booed in Munich and Berlin that month, having faced similar treatment in September following defeat by Peter Wright in the German Championship final in Hildesheim.

But Premier League champion Humphries, who clinched World Cup success with Michael Smith last June, said: 'It's just about not getting involved in the crowd isn't it?
'We've just got to make sure that if they're on his back, I'll be there to say, 'don't worry about what they're doing, focus on your game' and if we play against Germany that's going to be hard but I think he'll learn from the occasions of playing against crowds that are hostile.
'I've been there, I've had it a little bit before and you just have to focus on the game and not worry about what is going on behind you.'
Even though Littler has struggled with German crowds, Humphries plans to send the 18-year-old out to throw first when they begin their campaign in the second round on Saturday.
'I will probably put him first,' Humphries revealed.
'He is definitely the best scorer in the world. That's not a lie, it's obvious. So, you're going to put your strengths forward. You put him first, he is probably better at going for the bullseye than I am, getting the throws.

'Yeah, only if he's comfortable with it. If not, I'll go first but I played the anchor role last year.
'I felt really good going second, so maybe that is my role for this year as well.'
Victory for Humphries and Smith at Eissporthalle last summer was England's first World Cup win since 2016.
It ensured Humphries enjoyed a triumphant World Cup debut and he is sure Littler will experience the same.
Humphries added: 'As you saw when we won, the emotion that comes out of you, you don't expect it but it does because you're just so buzzing.
'It's really special and he will understand. He may even feel a little bit nervous at the start, or for the first game we play because all eyes are on us, everyone will be expecting us to be powerful every game we play.
'But I did say to him, it doesn't matter how we play as long as we win the trophy, that's what really matters. It will be a special feeling for him, as it was for me.'

AN UNWANTED STRIKER SAGA AS the season came to a close, Arsenal were quietly confident of doing their summer business quickly, efficiently and with little fuss. With new sporting director Andrea Berta through the door in March, the wheels were in motion well before the window opened on June 1, putting £51m aside for the impending arrival of Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi. And with boss Mikel Arteta demanding an elite No.9, two targets were placed at the top of their list – Sporting Lisbon's Viktor Gyokeres and Red Bull Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko. Having been burned in previous windows for not having a Plan B, Arsenal were not going to let the same happen again. If one was to break down, they could turn to the other. Confidence was high. Immense prep work had been done on both – including advanced negotiations and endless scouting missions. In Sesko's case, Arsenal have been chipping away for the past two years. With Gyokeres, Berta knows all about him having chased his signature while at Atletico Madrid and is believed to be the Italian's preference. JOIN SUN VEGAS: GET £50 BONUS There were hopes that a striker would walk through the door with time to spare before their pre-season trip to Singapore and Hong Kong in mid-July. But progress has not been as swift as first anticipated and there are more and more hurdles to jump before they sign one of either Gyokeres or Sesko. Joe Black ft Squeeks - Usual Suspects 12 12 Both Gyokeres and Sesko have been relying on verbal gentleman's agreements to clinch a move this summer having come close to leaving Lisbon and Leipzig respectively last summer. The Swede and the Slovenian were told in no uncertain terms: stay another year and we will not stand in your way when the time comes. The time has come, but there is frustration in each of the player camps as to how it is unfolding, specifically regarding their transfer values. Sesko believed he would be allowed to leave Germany for around £60m, but Leipzig are now standing firm on a fee closer to £70m, in line with his contractual release clause. This has taken Arsenal back, which is why they are yet to make a formal bid. There is a concern that they could be pulled into an ever-increasing bidding war, especially with two Saudi clubs recently announcing their interest. It is a similar situation with Gyokeres, who was told he could leave for significantly less than his £85m release clause after guiding Sporting to another league title. Despite Sporting president Frederico Vandaras claiming there was 'never' a gentleman's agreement to allow him to leave for £59m, SunSport understands the opposite is true. Instead, Sporting now want around £67m – a fee which is making Arsenal think twice for a 27-year-old who is in his peak years with little to no sell-on value. There is also the case of Liverpool's pursuit of Florian Wirtz, with the Reds being forced to pay well over £100m for the 22-year-old from a stubborn Bayer Leverkusen. With Sesko also 22, Leipzig will certainly be influenced by the sum Wirtz is going for, hence their decision to hold out for a larger fee, something Arsenal were not expecting. Arsenal may be forced to turn to Plan C, uninterested in spending the entire summer chasing any player that is being embroiled in a saga with their parent clubs, in particular in Gyokeres' case as he threatens to go on strike. Eintracht Frankfurt's £60-valued Hugo Ekitike is still on Arteta's radar, as is Atletico's Julian Alvarez – another player that Berta has sold to Arteta and the Arsenal board. They could also change direction and push on for a wide player. Athletic Bilbao's Nico Williams remains the dream signing, even if Bilbao demand £50m upfront with Williams' pay requirements set to smash Arsenal's wage structure. BILBAO'S WILLIAMS RESPONSE 12 Nico Williams is a target for Arsenal and Mikel Arteta Credit: EPA 12 SunSport understands that Athletic Bilbao are 'calm' over the future of Nico Williams, who is wanted by Arteta and Arsenal. So much so that they are planning on starting talks with the 22-year-old winger as soon as he gets back from his holiday in Ibiza, having played in Spain's Nations League final defeat to Portugal on penalties in Munich last weekend. The plan is to extend the player's contract past his current 2027 expiry, which would include increasing his release clause – at the moment it stands at around £50m up front, something the likes of Arsenal and Bayern Munich are encouraged by. Those around Bilbao are surprised by Williams' decision to go on holiday with his future at boiling point, but the player was insistent he needed to let off some steam. Bilbao are confident that Williams will at least listen to negotiations to convince him to stay, especially with Champions League football guaranteed for next season, even if he and his agent Félix Tainta view this summer as an ideal time to move to a top side in Europe with his stock at an all-time high. In a post-season review, president Jon Uriarte said: 'Maintaining talent is very important. We have a winning project that's interesting for everyone, and Nico is part of that project. 'The project is easier if we keep the players, and I think Nico and the rest of the players have a very exciting year ahead.' Williams is understood to have been frustrated by criticism from the Bilbao fans this season, starting just 22 LaLiga games last term due to an ongoing groin issue. So much so that the day after the Nations League final, he made a rare comment on social media on a fan's post that lamented him for not being part of the Bilbao squad that travelled to Old Trafford in their Europa League semi-final defeat to Manchester United. Williams wrote: 'Point of view: You're very annoying'. In the past, Williams has been forced to come off social media to avoid the constant abuse. Arsenal are hoping to take advantage, but are up against Bayern. The Germans are confident they are in a great position to bring him to Munich, and the player is reportedly excited by the chance to play in the Bundesliga and the Champions League for a continental giant. Should Arsenal pip Bayern, then it would leave Leandro Trossard fighting for his place. The Belgian is already considering cashing in with Saudi interest high and his contract at the Emirates running out next summer. VIEIRA'S PREDICAMENT 12 Fabio Vieira spent last season on loan at Porto Credit: Alamy 12 SunSport understands that Porto have been left resigned to the fact that they will be unable to sign Arsenal's Fabio Vieira permanently this summer, having had him on loan last term. Vieira, 25 – signed from Porto for around £34m in the summer of 2022 – has been deemed surplus to requirements by Arteta with Arsenal looking to ship the Portuguese midfielder out to make space for more incomings. Porto would love to bring Vieira back to Portugal permanently. He will be staying beyond the end of the regular season to compete in the Club World Cup – a stipulation Porto insisted on when negotiating with Arsenal last summer – but there is no option to buy. The loan fee to lure Vieira away from Arsenal was believed to be around £750k, with another £600k penalty fee if the player did not play more than half of Porto's games this season. Porto have managed to avoid this. But Porto are not in a position to spend this summer, with Arsenal demanding close to the same fee they paid for him, while Vieira's wages are also viewed as excessive, something the player is refusing to budge on since arriving in North London. Arsenal would need to be convinced to let Vieira leave for significantly less than they paid, which is unlikely, and would rather not loan him out for a second successive campaign. In brief exchanges with the Arsenal hierarchy, Porto club president and former Chelsea and Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas has not been able to find an affordable resolution, and is turning to other cheaper targets. Arsenal are now troubleshooting in order to resolve this. Vieira is then expected to return to Arsenal for pre-season after a few weeks' rest from the Club World Cup, but SunSport understands it is unlikely he will be involved in their pre-season tour. Arsenal hope Vieira's performances at the Club World Cup will catch the eye of a suitor willing to spend big, with several Saudi teams monitoring the situation. Sane bids farewell to Bayern ahead of Galatasaray move
June 12 (Reuters) - Leroy Sane said farewell to Bayern Munich fans in a video posted on social media on Thursday, as the German winger moves closer to completing a switch to Turkish side Galatasaray. Turkish Super Lig champions Galatasaray had earlier said that they had started transfer talks with Sane and that the 29-year-old Germany international was in Istanbul. Sane joined Bayern in 2020, signing a five-year deal from English side Manchester City, where he won the Premier League title in 2018 and 2019. He would be joining Galatasaray as a free agent, with his Bayern deal expiring at the end of June. He has won the Bundesliga four times with Bayern, including the most recent campaign, as well as two DFL-Supercups, one UEFA Super Cup and a Club World Cup. "Dear Bayern fans, after five intense years here in Munich, I've decided to start a new chapter in the upcoming season," Sane posted on Instagram. "I'm incredibly proud to have worn the jersey of the best and biggest club in Germany for over 200 matches and will always cherish the titles we've won together. New report calls for eight-week break and mid-season rest for footballers

The European division of world players' union FIFPRO and Europe's leagues have taken legal action against FIFA over what they see as a lack of consultation by the game's global governing body over the fixture calendar. The scheduling of the Club World Cup within that calendar has been described as a 'tipping point' in the debate by Premier League chief executive Richard Masters. The expert group has put forward 12 'position statements' on player welfare as part of the Delphi Study, which they feel should be adopted worldwide as minimum welfare standards. These included a mandatory four-week off-season break, and within that a two-week blackout period where clubs and national teams should have no contact at all with players. There should then be a minimum four-week retraining period after the off-season break before resuming competitive football. Mid-season breaks should last a minimum of one week, experts said. Premier League players will not benefit from any mid-season break next season, as was the case in 2024-25. A pause was introduced in the 2019-20 season but was dropped before the start of the season just ended, due to the expansion of international competitions like UEFA's Champions League, Europa League and Conference League. The 12 position statements were agreed with the consensus of at least 75 per cent of the experts involved. Among the other statements were calls for mandatory consideration of the travel burden on players and the impact of long-haul flights, as well as specific workload safeguards for under-18 players. Dr Vincent Gouttebarge, the medical director of FIFPRO, said: 'This study presents safety standards based on the considered and independent opinions of medical and performance experts working in professional football who understand the mental and physical strain placed on players. 'If we can all agree that health comes first, then we should take steps to implement these safeguards.'
