Brazil's international and Santos star Neymar missed his team's 2-1 defeat against Corinthians in the Paulista Championship semifinal.
Fabrizio Romano confirmed on his official X that Neymar was sidelined due to an injury.
Romano reported: "Neymar Jr. was not ready due to discomfort, so he was unavailable for Santos last night."
Neymar responded to Romano's post, explaining: "Unfortunately, I've been feeling some pain over the past few weeks… I really wanted to help the team, so I underwent medical tests this morning, but I felt pain again."
The player rejoined Santos during the winter transfer window, following his departure from Al Hilal Saudi Club.
He plans to play for the club for six months before deciding on his future.

Neymar Tests Positive for COVID-19

Israa Farhan Brazilian football star Neymar has tested positive for COVID-19, according to a statement released by Santos FC and reported by Brazilian media. The 33-year-old forward, who rejoined his boyhood club earlier this season, showed symptoms last Thursday and was immediately sidelined from all team activities. Medical tests confirmed Neymar's infection, though the club has not yet disclosed how long he will be out of action. Santos did not respond to Reuters' request for further comment. Neymar was already set to miss Santos' upcoming match against Fortaleza this Thursday due to suspension. That fixture will be the club's final game before the Brazilian league pauses for the FIFA Club World Cup, which takes place in the United States from June 15 to July 13. The former Barcelona and PSG star's future at Santos remains uncertain, with his current contract set to expire on June 30. Despite struggling with injuries throughout his return season, Neymar has made 12 appearances across all competitions, scoring three goals and providing three assists. read more Japan Stun Spain 2-1 to Qualify for World Cup Last 16 World Cup 2022: Get to Know Confirmed Line-ups of Japan and Spain Group E Decider Saudi Arabia Bid Farewell to World Cup after 2-1 Loss to Mexico Tunisia Achieve Historic Win over France but Fail to Qualify Tunisia to Clash against France in World Cup Sports Get to Know Squad of Group D Teams in World Cup Sports Al Ahly Gift EGP 70,000 to Players After Claiming Egyptian Super Cup Title Sports Bencharki Hits First 2 Goals with Al Jazira Since Leaving Zamalek Sports Arsenal Possible Line-up for Nottingham Forest News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier Sports Former Al Zamalek Player Ibrahim Shika Passes away after Long Battle with Cancer Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Sports Neymar Announced for Brazil's Preliminary List for 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers News Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly Inaugurates Two Indian Companies Arts & Culture New Archaeological Discovery from 26th Dynasty Uncovered in Karnak Temple Business Fear & Greed Index Plummets to Lowest Level Ever Recorded amid Global Trade War Arts & Culture Zahi Hawass: Claims of Columns Beneath the Pyramid of Khafre Are Lies News Flights suspended at Port Sudan Airport after Drone Attacks News Shell Unveils Cost-Cutting, LNG Growth Plan

TotalEnergies CAF Women's AFCON: Awa Diakhaté, the Lionesses of Teranga's Secret Weapon

Two years after a heartbreaking quarter-final exit against Zambia—decided by a penalty shootout in which Diakhaté missed a crucial spot kick—Senegal's star forward returns with a clear mission: redemption and triumph. 'We're not coming just to participate,' she says. 'Getting out of the group, going far, and winning the trophy—that's the goal.' Drawn into a challenging Group A alongside hosts Morocco, DR Congo, and Zambia, Senegal face stiff competition from the ontset. However, Diakhaté is unfazed. 'We had the World Cup within reach. It hurt, but we learned. This time, we're here to win.' Senegal's squad is no longer a team of newcomers. The lessons of AFCON 2022, coupled with World Cup playoff heartbreaks against Haiti and Japan, have forged a more seasoned and unified unit. 'Most of the girls have already played in a WAFCON. We know what it takes now. We're ready.' From Obscurity to Olympique de Marseille Diakhaté's rise has been swift. Just two years ago, she was playing in Senegal without a professional contract. Then came the TotalEnergies CAF WAFCON 2022, where she scored Senegal's first-ever goal in the tournament—an achievement that changed her career overnight. 'That's when everything changed. I got noticed and signed with OM. It's something I'm proud of, but it's thanks to the national team.' Now a mainstay at Marseille, Diakhaté has impressed with her explosive pace, powerful dribbling, and deft left foot. Nicknamed 'Neymar' during her time with the U20s, she's grown into a player for big moments—one who's eager to lead by example. 'There are girls on the national team without clubs. I always tell them: AFCON is a showcase. You have to give it everything.' A Leader on and off the Pitch More than a footballer, Diakhaté has become a voice for her generation. As an official ambassador for the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games (October 31–November 13), she sees her platform as an opportunity to inspire young people, particularly girls. 'These Games are a chance—for Senegal, for Africa, for youth. If I can motivate, encourage, and help girls dream bigger, I will.' — Off the pitch (@agenceotp) April 28, 2025 Her message carries weight, shaped by personal experience: training on dusty fields, without equipment, often overlooked. She knows raw talent isn't enough. Visibility, infrastructure, and support are essential. 'This WAFCON is more than just a tournament. It's a launchpad. A chance for those still waiting for theirs. WAFCON changed my life. I'm proof of that.'

Neymar Out of Brazil Squad for March's 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers

Brazil star Neymar was ruled out of the upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Colombia and Argentina after sustaining another injury. Neymar spent almost a year and a half out of the Brazil side due to injuries, including an ACL one, but he was included in the preliminary list of Brazil squad. With Brazil down in fifth place in South American World Cup qualifying, coach Dorival Junior recalled Brazil's top scorer to the side he last represented in October 2023. However, the latest injury ruined Neymar's dreams. Brazil will play Colombia in Brazilia on March 20 and face defending champions Argentina in Buenos Aires five days later.
