HARIMAU Malaya football legend Baddrol Bakhtiar captured hearts nationwide when he attended Malaysia's match against Vietnam at Bukit Jalil National Stadium yesterday.
However, it wasn't just his presence that got people talking.
The former national team star, who now serves as Gurun state assemblyman as well as Kedah state exco, showed up to support the Harimau Malaya squad in true grassroots fashion – sitting on the stadium seats alongside regular fans without any VIP treatment.
Baddrol attended the match with Larut MP Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin and Kota Bharu MP Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan, but his humble gesture of forgoing special seating arrangements to sit with ordinary supporters has since gone viral on social media.
In a TikTok video posted on his account, the sight of the football icon, despite his current political status, choosing to experience the match like any other passionate fan has deeply moved Malaysian sports enthusiasts.

"But one thing for sure, Empat is the new brand in town. That is for real. "Besides the concert, we have the upcoming single which we will announce to all soon. On the questions of coming out with a album, all four of us are not going there yet. It may come in the future, we will take everything step by step and the important part, is enjoying this new venture." As for the concert, organised by Anuar Zain Network and co-organised by Altus ProHouse -- Ziana Zain, who has been crooning unforgettable tunes for music lovers since 1991, said all four of them are overwhelmed by the support shown by the fans. "I can't wait for October. Words can't express what your support means to us. I hope October 18 becomes a phenomenon in the industry – it's the first time a family of artists is doing a concert like this. It will be our most memorable night,' said Ziana. She also has been preparing mentally and physically – hitting the gym and watching her diet. Ziana also teased fans about the concert content. Razif Sidek hospitalised with breathing difficulty
KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Razif Sidek, who captained Malaysia to the 1992 Thomas Cup title, was hospitalised yesterday with breathing issues. Razif, 63, is suspected to be suffering from pneumonia. Datuk Rashid Sidek, a former Olympic bronze medallist, said that his elder brother was in stable condition after visiting him at a hospital in Kuala Lumpur. "He is in stable condition. He had just returned from a short holiday from Australia and since it was winter there, his health possibly got affected," said Rashid. "Razif is under good care and I pray that he recovers and returns to full health." Razif, who used to be world No. 1 with younger brother Jalani, had won numerous honours including the 1982 All England men's doubles crown. Although not coaching actively nowadays, Razif has been keeping in touch with Malaysian badminton and never shies away from airing his critical views on the performances of national shuttlers. His son Fazriq Razif is also part of the national men's doubles squad and he currently partners Bryan Goonting.
