Welcome to Spicy Island – the ‘Disneyland for swingers' where Brits romp on sunbeds & are gifted X-rated ‘swag bags'

The Sun25-05-2025

SLIPPING off her swimsuit, Amanda Leigh buzzes with anticipation as she steps into the swimming pool and edges towards a man she has just met.
Moments later they lose their inhibitions and whilst they know they're not alone in the water, they start having sex as others watch.
9
It might sound like a high street curry house but Spicy Island is a top secret location off the coast of Croatia which certainly lives up to its name.
Sex on balconies
It's a far cry from your budget all inclusive package holiday on the Costa Del Sol as guests are expected to leave all their inhibitions at the door.
Each year, hundreds of people flock there to experience two weeks of blistering sun and plenty of sex.
It's a swingers paradise, a place where orgies on sun loungers beside the pool are the norm and watching exhibitionists have sex on balconies before breakfast is par for the course.
It isn't for the fainthearted or the prudish.
It was in the Spicy Island pool where Amanda, a professional dancer, met her partner Alex Christian, 44, last summer - and they're now counting down the weeks until their next trip - but this time as a couple - in June.
And Amanda has high hopes for their stay.
She says: 'Last year I met Alex and this year we're ready to open our relationship up.
'I want to fulfil the 'hot wife' fantasy and I'm looking forward to exploring this further.
'You're on an island where anything goes but at the same time it feels incredibly safe – absolutely nothing happens without explicit consent.
'It's like a Disneyland for swingers, with anything and everything on offer.'
Amanda first got into the swinging scene ten years ago whilst working as a dancer in an adults-only resort in Mexico.
She heard about Spicy Island last year when she was introduced to the organisers at a swinging event and after becoming fascinated, she booked a ticket.
I'm a Mormon wife and 'soft swinger' but I fear being thrown out of the church
The two-week event is organised by a company called Spicy Match, who take over the island entirely to accommodate their 600 guests.
Tickets aren't cheap - it costs between £1,000 for a bell tent up to £2,500 for a sun lodge with two bedrooms and bathrooms as well as a lounge.
'Hot wife' fantasy
Amanda stayed for the full fortnight last summer after 'playing' with singles and couples on the swinging scene previously.
'Last year I was planning a 'hot girl summer' – imagining all sorts of group interactions,' she says. 'Spicy Island is one of the best parties imaginable.
'The event is held at a secret location – you only find out where it is exactly when you board the boat from the port on the mainland.'
What is Swinging?
SWINGING, also known as partner swapping, is a sexual activity where partners in a committed relationship engage in sexual activities with other people.
All parties involved must give explicit and enthusiastic consent.
Open and honest communication between partners is crucial.
Many swingers engage with a community or attend events specifically for swinging.
Such activity can enhance intimacy and trust within the primary relationship.
It provides an opportunity to explore sexual fantasies and desires.
But it is not suitable for every relationship and requires a strong foundation of trust.
Jealousy and emotional challenges may arise and need to be managed.
It was on the hour-long boat transfer where Amanda, who splits her time between Europe and Canada working as a dancer, first set eyes on Alex, a spa technician.
She is completely unabashed about revealing what happened next on the wild isle nestled in the Med, an area which is a hotspot for regular holidaymakers.
'I couldn't get over how hot Alex was,' she recalls. 'We started flirting then and there and by the third night we got together while skinny dipping in the pool.
'The sex was incredible – it was very liberating as we were also able to make love on the beach at sunset, with no fear of getting into trouble.
'And we enjoyed being able to get it on in front of other people as I'm an exhibitionist.
'We couldn't get enough of each other so ended up not playing with anyone else – which is fine too – there's absolutely no pressure to take part in group sex.'
As well as brunch and an evening meal included in the ticket price, guests enjoy a jam-packed and somewhat eccentric entertainment package.
It ranges from exotic dancers and fire-eaters to sex seminars where attendees learn how to achieve multiple orgasms and soak up valuable tips on how to take care of erotic latex outfits.
The event, now in its third year, draws hundreds of Brits as well as others from places as diverse as Israel, Malta, Ukraine and America.
Some fly there on private jets whilst others arrive in Croatia on regular package holiday flights from the UK before jumping on the boat to the island.
Swag bag of condoms
Elsewhere in Croatia, tourists can be fined up to €700 (£585) on the spot in Split and Dubrovnik for inappropriate behaviour.
This includes using drugs and drinking alcohol in public spaces, vomiting in public and walking around in swimwear.
Holidaymakers can also be fined for removing shells from beaches.
However, the small, top secret Spicy Island which is usually enjoyed by regular tourists the rest of the year, appears to be governed by its own sets of rules.
On arrival, guests are handed a 'swag bag' of essential items including condoms and wristbands to distinguish them from staff.
The rules are quickly laid out - taking photos and videos of other guests is banned and while nudity is permitted everywhere else, swimwear must be worn in dining areas and at the reception.
The 'play area' is where much of the action takes place. It's divided into sections – one where couples play, another where they can find singles and there's a different area used solely for BDSM.
The play tent - which is staffed by stewards who hand out towels and extra condoms - is so popular couples queue for a vacant bed.
'People have a view of the lifestyle, thinking swingers are gross or glorified cheaters. But it couldn't be further from the truth,' says Amanda.
'It's all about consent and communication with your partner.
'So we're all very conscious of having safe sex and personal hygiene.
'You are completely free from unwanted advances, there's no expectations or pressure like you'd see at a standard night club on a Friday night.'
The island attracts swingers of all ages and retired couple James and Katherine Gordon, both 55, from Ashford in Kent, are regulars - and well versed in the scene.
They've stayed on Spicy Island twice and Katherine admitted she loves holidaying there because James can't keep up with her wild desires.
The couple, who have tickets for this year's event, got together at 17 and started swinging a year later.
Katherine says: 'We've been to swingers events everywhere in the world and the island is one of the best there is.
'We're so experienced that we have no embarrassment, we'll introduce ourselves with our boundaries. We'll literally say 'we're into full swapping and single men but no anal!'
'You end up meeting people in all sorts of ways. We start chatting on the Spicy Island forum the organisers set up before we fly out to Croatia and might suggest meeting up for dinner in the port town before we head for the island.
'Last year, 40 of us ended up having dinner together the night before we left, so you start making connections before you arrive.'
Katherine continues: 'The meals on the island are communal, so we sit down next to people we think we'll have something in common with.
'You flirt in the same way as you would in a normal bar or club to see if someone's interested in taking it further.
'I have a penchant for men in their mid-20s and will happily approach them to join us. James is very happy to outsource, joking he gets s**gged out now he's older!
'It's weird as I'm very shy in real life but something about swinging brings out a different side to me.'
The couple booked into a two-bedroom sun lodge for the fortnight and they allocated one room for sleep and one for 'play' rather than using the communal areas.
'We prefer using our own space, it's just more us,' says Katherine.
'It's all there if you want it'
'But it's not only the swinging, it's the socialising we enjoy. After 30 years of being on the swinging scene we have met lots of friends who we also see on Spicy Island.
'It's the least judgemental place in the world. You can walk to breakfast and see people having sex on their verandas, or there can be ten or 20 couples making out on a double bed. But equally someone can be sitting quietly reading their book.'
Personal trainer Katie Jones, 38, and her husband Simon, 49, who works in event management are longing for their second trip to Spicy Island this summer.
The couple from Hitchin in Hertfordshire have been together for nine years after meeting online and became involved in swinging gradually.
It was when they were on holiday in the French naturist resort of Cap d'Adge in 2023 that they heard about Spicy Island and visited for the first time last year.
Whilst most couples expect more intimacy on holiday, Katie and Simon love taking it to a whole new level.
Katie says: 'We loved being able to swim naked and sunbathe naked.
'We made lots of connections and ended up playing with two other couples - though a lot of the fun is witnessing your partner having pleasure.
'You can go to a secluded part of the island if you want some peace or join in with the crowds at the parties and the pool - there's an amazing energy.'
Surprisingly, given the 'anything goes' vibe on Spicy Island boozing is sparse.
Katie says: 'People don't tend to get too drunk as they're there for sex and alcohol doesn't help with that.
'It's just a very chilled out and very freeing environment – if people are curious they can come and see what they find.
'You don't have to swing but it's all there if you want it!'

Brian Rice talks 'genius' Brian Clough, shutting up the Livingston snipers and his wife's scouting role

Lions coach is loving life at Livi - and reveals his secret comrade when it comes to midweek scouting sessions Brian Rice jets off to Italy on his honeymoon this afternoon having helped navigate Livingston back in among the high fliers of Scottish football. After a frenetic season culminated in a dramatic play-off win over Ross County it's chill out time with wife Kirsteen. ‌ A chance to indulge in the finer things in life, to relax on the Adriatic coast's beautiful white beaches and to marvel at Rimini's stunning scenery. ‌ Inevitably though, the conversation will still turn to football. It's what brought the couple together. A match made in heaven? Alloa to be exact. And, for Rice, it's perfect. 'We're away on Sunday,' he says with a broad smile. 'Rimini for 12 nights, it's chill out time. ‌ 'We've been together three years, got married a few months back in front of five people. Kenny Brannigan was my best man. 'Alloa brought us together. We met when I was managing there. Kirsteen was helping out with the food. 'She loves football. She's been at every single game this season. ‌ 'She goes to all the mid-week games with me as well. Scouting trips and everything. She loves it. She knows what she's talking about. 'So it's off to Italy now. I've been before .. but only to play football.' ‌ Of course it was to play football. It's the perfect link into the story of a man who left school to join Hibs as a YTS and could never have dreamed of where the journey would take him. The new Mrs Rice isn't the first great partnership he's made in the game. Right now he's part of a trio of footballing brains who have guided Livi back to the big time as well as lifting the SPFL Trust Trophy alongside David Martindale and Neil Hastings. His years as John Hughes' sidekick at Falkirk, Hibs and Inverness are legendary. ‌ And long before then he was the big slip of a playmaker known simply as 'Scotsman' to one of football's most charismatic and successful bosses. Brian Clough. One word to describe each of those managers? Rice thinks hard: 'Clough: Genius. Davie: Under-rated. Yogi…Perfectionist. 'But all three of them: passionate.' ‌ He's 61 now but Rice is as full of enthusiasm for the game as the youngster that left HIbs to sign for Forest in 1985 at just 21. Before packing for his honeymoon, he sat down with Mail Sport this week to reflect on it all. He said: 'That last trip to Italy was with Nottingham Forest when we went to play a summer tournament in Perugia. ‌ 'We played against Perugia, Cologne and Roma and some fantastic players. Rudi Voller, Junior, the Brazilian, Pierre Littbarski. 'But we won. The manager never liked to lose even in pre-season. 'As a person, Brian Clough shaped me. His discipline, the way he treated people, the respect he had for people. Massive family man. ‌ 'Wanted us to be big family men as well. He was big on that, big on being a team. 'He didn't like individual players.. apart from John Robertson. He could do anything he wanted he was so good. 'Coaching? There was no coaching! We did the same training every single day for six years. ‌ 'People don't believe me. We never played 11 v 11, no set plays or shape, no defensive drills, or attacking drills, we never used big goals. 'We just warmed up, into two teams, played seven and eight a side trying to score into hockey goals, everything below head height, kicking hell out of one another. ‌ 'Players like Stuart Pearce, Neil Webb, Garry Birtles, Johnny Method, John Robertson, Roy Keane, Steve Hodge! 'Clough's secret? Play your position and get good players. Him and Peter Taylor identified players, fitted into how they wanted to play, it was simple. 'You'd never get away with it now. I see so many robots now, coaches as robots: 'Do this and this'. Football is about using your brain and how quick is your decision compared to your opponent's. ‌ 'What we did was simple but effective. There were certain rules. Don't pass back if you don't have to - and cross to the front post. 'One Saturday I hit about three crosses to the back post in the first half. The gaffer never missed me at half time. 'Second half, my first cross was overhit to the back post again. The boards went up, 'Scotsman, off!' ‌ 'The next game he started me against Aston Villa as a striker. 'I'd never played there in my life. I was against Paul McGrath and Derek Mountfield, two giants who kicked the hell out of me. 'We won 1-0 but I never touched the ball ‌ 'We came off the pitch, went up the stairs into the dressing room. I walked through the door and he was lying in the bath already with a bottle of beer! 'He said: 'well Scotsman, did you learn anything tonight?' 'I went, 'aye, gaffer, f*****g cross to that front post!' ‌ 'He was brilliant. I grew up watching Brian Clough on a Wednesday night. Sports Night. Sitting with my gran. He was TV gold. 'A few years later I'm signing for him. Archie Gemmill picked me up in the morning. He took me into the office and said, 'I've got the Scotsman'. ‌ 'The gaffer was writing something so his head was down. My heart was pounding. 'In those days my red hair had a side shed. He just looked up and went 'f**k me it's Steve Davis'. 'We just had a brilliant relationship.' ‌ The best part of four decades later Rice is now that wise old head passing on his wisdom from a life spent in football. If there's one word to describe him, it's knowledgable. Rice reckons 'lazy' critics don't have a clue when they take aim at Livingston's brand of football. ‌ And the Lions coach insists David Martindale has rammed their jibes back down their throats after guiding the club back to the Premiership after a summer rethink. He said: 'It's lazy people. You get tarnished. 'But that's people that don't get off their backsides and go and watch. Don't do their research. ‌ 'We were very much under the radar this year. Falkirk had such a good season, such a good team, attacking team. 'Rightly so, they were getting all the positives. Everybody was raving about them. They won the league because they were the best team. 'But we were very, very close. ‌ 'I can't really remember three games that we just played long. We tried to play all the time. 'I've seen all the things on social media. I just sit and laugh. 'These people haven't got a clue. They don't go and watch the game. ‌ 'Go and ask any other manager in the Championship about Livingston's style of play.' Rice reckons Martindale will look back on this season with a huge sense of pride. ‌ He said: 'I'd think this season means more than anything else he's achieved with Livingston. 'He changed the full style because the Championship allows you to do that. 'We had a look at it and the gaffer decided that he wanted to play a possession-based game where we could dominate the ball. The Premiership doesn't allow you to do that every week. ‌ 'In the Championship, you can coach to win every single week. You know you've got a chance of winning every week. 'Davie will look back at this with great pride, his own work and the way the boys adapted to the system. 'Everything changed, the way we trained. And I think it needed that. ‌ 'He's good at identifying things and seeing what needs to be changed.' Livi roared back from 3-1 down on aggregate to beat Ross County 5-3 in Dingwall on Monday night. And Rice said: 'At first it was relief. Then it was enjoyment, coming back on the bus and waking up the next day and taking the dog out, people stopping me in the street.. it's a wee bit bigger than I thought.' While Rice and Martindale bask in the glow of a promotion and cup winning campaign, his former colleague Hughes remains out of the game. ‌ Yogi hasn't managed since leaving Dunfermline three years ago. And Rice reckons that's a massive waste of talent. He said: 'Taking Brendan Rodgers out the equation, tell me anyone else in Scotland with the CV Yogi has got. HIs CV stands up to anybody. 'He got Falkirk into the Premier League. Kept them there. Got to the 2009 Scottish Cup final and into Europe. ‌ 'He brought players through. Got players in from the Premier League on loan, Kasper Schmeichel, Tim Krul, Anthony Stokes. 'He then won the Scottish Cup with Inverness. ‌ 'Yogi's enthusiasm is incredible. People just look at him as this big centre half but they have not go an idea about his football knowledge. How he sees the game, how he wants it played. 'He took a lot of his ideas from Tommy Burns at Celtic. He'd written down sessions Tommy had put on. 'He demands perfection and doesn't accept short cuts. He knows the dangers of short cuts. 'I cannot understand how someone with his CV hasn't got a job.'

Paddy McGuinness jokes 'where do I sign up?' in very cheeky chat with Mormon Wives stars as they tell him about their swingers lifestyle and risque 'Daddy' lip tattoo

Paddy McGuinness joked 'where do I sign up?' in a cheeky This Morning interview with Mormon Wives stars as they told him all about the cast's swingers lifestyle. Paddy, 51, joined Alison Hammond to present Friday's episode of the ITV chat show, which saw them chat to two stars from The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives - Whitney Leavitt and Jessi Ngatikaura. The American Disney+ reality show, the second series of which came out earlier this month, follows a group of Utah-based Mormon mothers and TikTok influencers. The programme captured attention after cast member, Taylor Frankie Paul, went viral for admitting her husband and she had been swinging with other Mormon couples. But Paddy, who split from his wife and mother of his three children Christine in 2022 after 11 years of marriage, didn't appear dissuaded as he joked about joining the show and becoming a Mormon husband. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new Showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. Reality star Whitney Leavitt pulled back her bottom lip to reveal the tattoo, which read 'Daddy' Seemingly referring to the so-called 'soft-swinging' scandal - with the term denoting romantic and sexual intimacy outside a partnership, without full intercourse - Paddy joked: 'Where do I sign up? I'm in!' As he thanked the guests for coming on the show, he then did a double fist pump. During the interview, Alison made it clear that Whitney and Jessi no not participate in the swinging lifestyle, clarifying: 'Let's be clear, Whitney and Jessi did not "soft swing".' Paddy then cheekily interjected, referring to other cast members who are swingers as he quipped: 'Doesn't make them bad people.' Alison agreed: 'No, it doesn't', before Jessi joked: 'Maybe next season!' Jessi - who left the faith several years ago but still features on the show due to her continuing links to Mormon family and friends - then explained some of the values of the religion. They include not having tattoos - but both women admitted they do actually have inkings themselves. Whitney revealed, 'I actually have one too but mine's hidden', gesturing to her mouth. Alison said, 'So naughty, you've got a tattoo in the mouth?', adding: 'You are the naughtiest Mormon wives!' Jessi, who encouraged Whitney to show off the ink, commented jokingly, 'You have like a hardcore tattoo', before adding: 'No, she's like a bad Mormon!' Whitney then pulled back her bottom lip to reveal the tattoo, which cheekily read 'Daddy'. Alison turned to her co-host Paddy to ask, 'Do you know what it says?', before he confirmed: 'I do, it says Daddy!' He then asked jokingly: 'Sorry, I just need to check, does that say Paddy?' as the studio descended into laughter. An amused Jessi quickly replied, 'Yes, it does, she's a fangirl', while Paddy responded: 'Oh, right, OK, it's meant to be!' The two Mormon wives explained another aspect of the faith means they are unable to drink coffee, as part of treating their body as a temple. They instead drink fizzy beverages, mixed with a variety of flavoured creams and syrups - and brought in their regular orders for Alison and Paddy to try. Both were very complimentary about the drinks, praising how delicious they were, with Alison saying lightly: 'Could I join the Mormon wives? How do I do it?' But Paddy interjected to say: 'More importantly, how do I become a Mormon husband? These are the main questions, how do we become a Mormon husband?' Jessi jokingly replied: 'You got to get married in the temple, you gotta move to Utah, go to BYU [Mormon-sponsored university in Utah], there's so many requirements.' Towards the end of the interview, Alison praised Jessi for being so open about the cosmetic surgery procedures she has undergone. 'You're so open Jessi, like I know you've had a little bit of surgery down below and you've had some surgery up above as well, you've had a breast reduction', she said. The reality star confirmed, 'Yeah, everywhere!', before Alison cheekily continued, turning to Paddy: 'Which you're not happy about are you?' A taken aback Paddy stuttered: 'Sorry, I came on the tail end of this, I was still thinking about... [a comment made just before about Whitney being a Great British Bake Off fan].' Jessi quipped, 'He's like, "I just heard breast, what?"' 'You're so open Jessi, like I know you've had a little bit of surgery down below and you've had some surgery up above as well, you've had a breast reduction', Alison said Jessi also noted that the very popular Mormon Wives reality show was only commissioned because of her co-star Taylor's frank admissions online about swinging - despite the sexually conservative reputation of Mormonism. She said: 'Well, I think Taylor was the one who originally came out with it because there were rumours going around about her and she's like, "I'm going to set the record straight", which thank God she did because we got a show so…!' Paddy's divorce from former model Christine, 37, was finalised last summer, following their split in 2022. The couple share three kids - ten-year-old twins, Penelope and Leo, and seven-year-old daughter Felicity - who are all autistic. Despite their split, they remain living under the same roof at their £2.5million family home in Cheshire for the sake of their young family. But earlier this year, MailOnline revealed Paddy had put their £6.5million Cheshire house up for sale. Christine had reportedly grown increasingly tired of cohabiting with Paddy, who was happy for the arrangement to continue. Christine had already flown to Ibiza to begin filming with the rest of the cast but told fans she was 'returning home to her family' after a change of heart Speaking about their split, Christine said: 'I've never spoken about the reasons for our divorce, and I don't know if I ever will. 'It was a difficult time. It wasn't something that, you know, I just decided to do overnight, or that we chose to do. 'We tried, and, yeah, there just, unfortunately, there was no repairing it, you know?' Christine also pulled out of her scheduled appearance on Celebs Go Dating earlier this month, revealing she felt it was 'too soon' for her to date so publicly following her divorce. Christine had already flown to Ibiza to begin filming the series with the rest of the cast but told fans she was 'returning home to her family' after having a change of heart. Revealing the news on Instagram at the start of this month, she said: 'I joined Celebs Go Dating with great intentions but have realised that dating on a public platform and the attention is brings is just too soon for me.' She added she may appear in the future though: 'They've said the door is always open for me which I'm so grateful but for now I'm returning home to my family.' This Morning is available to watch on ITV on weekdays at 10am and to stream on ITVX.

Luka Modric 'considering shock move to British club' as midfielder prepares to leave Real Madrid

Luka Modric could be set for a surprise move as his time at Real Madrid comes to an end. After 13 years at Real, Modric will leave following the Club World Cup this summer. The 39-year-old was given an emotional send off by Real Madrid fans last weekend following his final home appearance for the club. Modric was clapped off the pitch in the 87th minute of his side's victory against Real Sociedad. At present it is unclear what the Croatia star's next move will be. However, it has now been claimed that he could make a switch that not many people were expecting. As reported by Mundo Deportivo, Modric could head to the Scottish Premiership with Rangers. Davide Ancelotti left his position as Real Madrid assistant boss after his father Carlo took charge of the Brazil national team. Although Davide Ancelotti will be part of the Brazil coaching staff for their World Cup qualifiers away to Ecuador and at home to Hungary, he could subsequently take up his first job as a club manager. Ancelotti's potential destination could be Rangers, with the 35-year-old having held talks with the club last week. There have been suggestions that if he is appointed then Ancelotti could bring Modric with him to Rangers. During his time at Real Modric has made 591 appearances, while he has scored 43 goals and has provided 95 assists. While at Real Modric won six Champions Leagues, four LaLiga titles, two Copa del Reys and five Club World Cups.
