Tom Cruise' net worth: A look at the Mission Impossible star's earnings, properties, and riches

Mint19-05-2025

Hollywood icon Tom Cruise is set to earn between ₹ 820 crore and ₹ 984 crore (approximately $100–120 million) from the upcoming film Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, according to reports.
This staggering amount includes not only his base salary but also a hefty share of the film's profits. As a producer on the film, Cruise's income soars when the box office numbers rise.
The Final Reckoning is among the most expensive films ever made, with a production budget of ₹ 3,300 crore (around $400 million). The film features high-octane stunts, top-tier special effects, and was shot across multiple countries. To recover costs, it must earn at least ₹ 8,300 crore ($1 billion) globally — a challenging figure, but not out of reach with Cruise at the helm.
Cruise has made a fortune through the Mission: Impossible franchise over the years: Mission: Impossible (1996) – ₹ 576 crore
576 crore Mission: Impossible II (2000) – ₹ 616 crore
616 crore Mission: Impossible III (2006) – ₹ 616 crore
616 crore Ghost Protocol (2011) – ₹ 616 crore
616 crore Rogue Nation (2015) – ₹ 616 crore
616 crore Fallout (2018) – ₹ 616 crore
616 crore Dead Reckoning Part One (2023) – ₹ 574–820 crore
574–820 crore The Final Reckoning (2025) – Expected ₹ 820–984 crore
His other notable salaries from various other films include: Taps – $50,000
Risky Business – $75,000
Legend – $500,000
Top Gun (1986) – $2 million
Cocktail – $3 million
Days of Thunder – $9 million
The Firm – $12 million
Mission: Impossible 2 – $100 million (with backend profits)
War of the Worlds – $100 million
One of the biggest reasons behind Tom Cruise's massive income is that he produces most of his own films. In 1993, he co-founded Cruise/Wagner Productions, which has earned over $3 billion at the global box office. Cruise continues to earn big through backend profits and production deals, making him not just an actor but a powerful businessman in the film industry.
The Mission Impossible star's properties
Cruise also owns — or has sold — several high-end properties: A 320-acre Telluride mansion in Colorado with a helipad, horse stables, and a 10,000 sq ft house, sold for $39.5 million in 2021.
A Beverly Hills estate bought for $30.5 million and sold for $40 million.
Multiple condo units in Clearwater, Florida, sold for $11.8 million.
A New York City condo sold for $3 million.
As one insider noted, 'He's not just an actor — he's a brand, a businessman, and a global phenomenon.'
Tom Cruise's Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning made its much-anticipated premiere at Cannes this year. Directed by Christopher McQuarrie, the latest instalment in the long-running franchise is the biggest Hollywood blockbuster to land at the 78th edition of the festival. Following its world premiere in Tokyo last week, the film is scheduled to hit North American cinemas on May 23.

2025 box office report card: How a kids' film beat Mission Impossible, Sinners, Marvel; is year's highest-grossing film

Nearly half of 2025 has come to a close. The summer blockbuster season is set to begin, but already, in the first five months of the year, 2025 has given a lot of reasons to cheer at the box office worldwide. Hollywood films found their footing again, even as Marvel continued to falter. Tom Cruise reasserted his superstardom, while Sinners and Final Destination: Bloodlines raised the flag for horror. But despite all this, the highest-grossing film of the year so far has not come from Hollywood. It has no big stars, and is made for kids. Yet, it has managed to beat studio heavyweights on its own. (Also read: Tom Cruise's Mission Impossible 8 defies US-China tensions, tops China box office with $25 million haul) Chinese animated film Ne Zha 2 has been the biggest box office sensation of the year so far. The film, made for just ¥600 million (around $80 million), it has already earned $2.2 billion worldwide, making it the highest-grossing animated film ever, and one of the highest-grossing films of all time, with only heavyweights like Avatar and Avengers: Endgame above it. Ne Zha 2 pipped Warner Bros' A Minecraft Movie to the top. The second-place feature has earned $948 million worldwide. Disney's Lilo & Stitch is in the third spot with a global haul of $632 million and counting. Another Chinese film - Detective Chinatown 1900 - is in the fourth spot, while Marvel's Captain America: Brave New World rounds up the top 5. Ne Zha 2's success can be gauged by the fact that it has earned nearly six times as much as Tom Cruise's hit Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning or Marvel's Thunderbolts. The Paramount film has earned $389 million, while the MCU's antihero team-up is at $371 million. Despite wide releases globally, they have been unable to match Ne Zha 2's pace. What has made Ne Zha 2 so popular is its universal appeal in China. The film is based on Chinese mythology and legends, and has been seen as a fun, educational family watch in the country. This, coupled with China's impressive 90,000 screens, has meant that the film was able to sustain record footfalls for long durations, selling out theatres for weeks in parts of the country. Ne Zha 2 may be hard to dethrone. Only four films have ever earned more - Avatar, Avengers: Endgame, Avatar: The Way of Water, and Titanic. Yet, 2025 boasts a strong line-up of films that can break the $2 billion mark. First up is James Gunn's Superman reboot, followed by Marvel's new Fantastic Four film. But perhaps the film that has the best chance of surpassing Ne Zha 2 at the box office is James Cameron's Avatar: Fire and Ash, which releases in December.

‘Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning' box office collections day 21: Film inches closer to Rs 100 cr mark: Strong hold into the third week

'Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning' continues its steady run at the Indian box office, collecting Rs 66 lakhs (early estimates) on its 21st day. Despite entering its third Friday, the Tom Cruise-led action franchise has managed to retain a decent footfall, pushing its total India net collection to an estimated Rs 94.86 crore across all languages. While the pace has slowed, the film is now eyeing the Rs 100 crore milestone in the coming days. Occupancy Trends on Day 21 According to the Sacnilk website, the film recorded an overall 18.53% English occupancy on June 6, 2025, with night shows showing the best performance at 28.99%. Morning shows remained low at 9%, with a gradual increase through the afternoon and evening. The Hindi version saw slightly lower traction, with an overall occupancy of 14.43%. Night shows again led with 19.78%, while morning shows stood at just 7.24%. While regional versions in Telugu and Tamil have contributed marginally to the collections, the bulk of the business continues to come from the English and Hindi versions, particularly in urban centres. Three Weeks of Consistency After a solid first week collection of Rs 54.4 crore, the film held decently in its second week with Rs 26.75 crore. The third week, although registering a 51% drop from the second, still added Rs 13.05 crore to the total. The weekday collections remained under ₹1 crore but were consistent enough to maintain momentum. Sustains its brand value 'The Final Reckoning', which started with a stellar Rs 17 crore opening weekend, continues to benefit from strong brand recall, slick action, and Tom Cruise 's star power. The third weekend will be crucial to see if it can surpass the Rs 100 crore mark domestically.
