Winter weather makes good sledding conditions for central Arkansas
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Whether you're stepping onto a snowboard, or surfing on the ice with your own two feet, the slippery slopes of central Arkansas have made for a creative snow day.
Spending a snow day sliding on a hill of ice, Mike Orndorff said this round of winter weather comes with precaution.
'I think it's faster and more dangerous for sure,' Orndorff said.

Finnley Fitzhugh takes on a more traditional route while sledding, but even he said it comes with a risk.
'It's fun and fast but also it can be painful if you mess up,' Fitzhugh said.
The winter storm has made for a good sledding opportunity these Arkansans said they can't pass up.
'It doesn't snow that much a year, it may only snow like twice,' Fitzhugh said.

NOAA predicts ‘above average' season in new hurricane outlook
COLUMBUS, Ga. () — NOAA has released their 2025 Atlantic hurricane season outlook and predicts an above average season with 13-19 named storms. Of those storms, 6-10 are expected to become hurricanes and 3-5 expected to become major hurricanes which is a category 3 or above. This season is expected to be above average due to a combination of factors such as a neutral ENSO conditions (lack of El Niño or La Niña), warmer than average ocean temperatures, weak wind shear and increased activity from the West African Monsoon. ‘Nuisance mosquitoes' prompt spraying in several communities
LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — After receiving complaints from residents, the Luzerne Conservation District (LCD) announced they will be spraying for mosquitoes in several communities on the west side of the Wyoming Valley. Crews are expected to be out spraying for adult mosquitoes in residential and recreational areas in Forty Fort, West Wyoming, Wyoming and Exeter in the evening hours of June 10. In the case of bad weather, the rain date is set for June 11. 7 Day Forecast 'The truck-mounted ULV spray will be conducted by LCD. The business license for LCD is BU 11113. The product that will be used is AquaDuet, applied at a rate of .62 oz/ac. This product is designed to provide quick knockdown and effective control of adult mosquitoes,' the district stated in a media release.
