Speaking in the Commons today, Dame Diana said: "[Pubs] stand to benefit from this modest extension which would allow them to accommodate increased demand during these high-profile fixtures.
"If neither England nor Wales reach the semi-finals, the proposed extension will not apply on July 22 or 23.
"Similarly, if one or both teams reach the semi-finals but do not progress to the final, normal licensing hours will apply on July 27.
"I have to say, from my limited following of football, it seems like the women's teams have a reputation for doing far better than our male teams.

"I fully accept that the hospitality sector has had a difficult time over the last few years and this is a helpful measure.
"It is right to acknowledge as well that police representatives have expressed some concerns regarding the potential for increased crime and disorder.
"Now, whilst operational decisions on deployment and resourcing are a matter for individual forces, I am confident that appropriate measures will be taken to mitigate any risks, as has happened in similar cases.
"Notably, there have been no significant incidents of large-scale disorder linked to previous licensing extensions, which I think is testament to the professionalism of our police service, to whom we owe our thanks."

Mr Snowden, the MP for Fylde, said the Conservatives were "delighted" to support the temporary changes.
He added: "I don't think I would have much choice on this matter, as if I ever stood at this dispatch box and opposed more time in the pub to watch football, my dad would probably disown me.
"We are the defending champions of the Women's Uefa cup after England's magnificent performance at the 2022 tournament hosted here in the UK at Wembley.
"The final saw a 2-1 victory, and of course in football, it was made all the sweeter by beating the Germans.

"So this is a fantastic time to support your local as well as your national."
England and Wales face each other on July 13, with both nations in Group D alongside France and the Netherlands.
The Lionesses will face France on July 5 when Wales play the Netherlands.
On July 9, England will play the Netherlands while Wales face France.

'Johnny is very different than what he was on the field'
JOHNNY SEXTON AND Richard Wigglesworth had a few run-ins on the pitch over the years, but now they're fighting for the same cause. The former Ireland out-half and ex-England scrum-half are both part of Andy Farrell's coaching staff for the British and Irish Lions tour to Australia. Renowned as intelligent operators during their playing days, Sexton and Wigglesworth were on opposing coaching teams earlier this year when Ireland beat England in the Six Nations. Given the history, they're enjoying being on the same side now. 'It's a bit different,' said Wigglesworth after the Lions' captain's run in Dublin this afternoon ahead of tomorrow's sold-out clash with Argentina. 'I've really enjoyed him, so very different than what he was on the field. I'm maybe similar, but without the extreme that Johnny was on the field and off it. 'We've had a good few debates about some match-ups we had. So no, we've had some good fun talking about it. Really enjoying working with him. Obviously, great knowledge, a good eye for what's going on, and just wants to help, like we all do.' Advertisement Farrell has six assistant coaches in total, the most since Clive Woodward's bloated 2005 tour. Ireland's Simon Easterby, John Fogarty, Andrew Goodman, and Sexton have joined Farrell, along with Scotland's John Dalziel and England's Richard Wigglesworth. The Lions didn't publicly announce what each of Farrell's assistants will focus on but most of it is clear. Sexton works on Ireland's kicking game but also has input on the Irish attack, although he said this week that his Lions role revolves specifically around kicking. Wigglesworth is a senior assistant coach with England and guides their attack, while also being renowned as a kick strategy expert. So there appears to be an overlap of coaching specialities in attack and kicking. Wigglesworth wasn't willing to clarify exactly how the various responsibilities have been divided out, but said Farrell wants a collaborative approach. 'I wouldn't like to elaborate on it too much because I think it's Andy's to do when he gives it out,' said Wigglesworth. 'So, he wants us all to work together. We've got our little roles, but if Andy wants to expand on it more, then I'll let him do that.' He did say that Farrell wants a collaborative approach. 'Faz has said straight away that he wanted it to be as connected and cohesive as possible. So, everything's put on the table, really discussed and then try and come up with the best solution and the best help for the lads. 'Obviously, we've got our little individual responsibilities that you'll come up with and check in with each other, but I'm enjoying it immensely, how connected it is and how much we're trying to help each other and learn. This is Farrell's third tour and he has massive experience from his time as an England assistant coach, Ireland assistant, and as a Grand Slam-winning Irish boss. Easterby has been Ireland forwards and defence coach at different stages over the past decade or so and is just coming off a season as the national team's head coach. Fogarty has been with Ireland for some major successes since joining in 2020, having worked with Leinster before that. Goodman also worked with the eastern province before joining Ireland last year, having come through the New Zealand coaching ranks. All of those backgrounds and experiences are leading to some fascinating coaching chats. 'Definitely, from our perspective of learning from all the different coaches and the little things that you see differently, all incredibly interesting on the back of it,' said Wigglesworth. 'So I've been absolutely loving that part of it.' There's no doubt Wigglesworth and Dalziel will go back to England and Scotland camps after this tour with a much deeper knowledge of how Farrell and co. like to do things with Ireland. But Wigglesworth said he hasn't been looking for any trade secrets. 'They've been pretty successful, haven't they? So I've not been drilling them too much on what they do or don't do.'

Royal Ascot: Trawlerman sets new course record with stunning Gold Cup success
In the absence of the retired Kyprios, his old rival Trawlerman stepped up to Gold Cup glory at Royal Ascot on Thursday. The John and Thady Gosden-trained gelding had the thankless task of chasing home Kyprios in last year's Gold Cup, getting within a length of Aidan O'Brien's now retired champion, who ranks as perhaps the best stayer of the last two decades. So, for once, the result of the stayers' championship felt apt as Trawlerman made all under William Buick to set a new track record in the historic old race. Tangling with Kyprios was an onerous job but in three clashes Trawlerman made a decent fist of it, even beating him once, around Ascot on Champions Day in 2023. READ MORE That was no bad boast, but the seven-year-old gelding hadn't won at Group One level before, a stat he put right in some style. The 85-40 favourite had seven lengths in hand of O'Brien's Illinois, who was the same distance ahead of Godolphin's outsider Dubai Future. It was a first Gold Cup for Buick, who also combined with Godolphin and the Gosdens to land Wednesday's Prince Of Wales's Stakes with Ombudsman. 'We tried it [same tactics] last year and we were only beaten by the great Kyprios. He's been such a good horse, he's so genuine,' Buick said. He got in a great rhythm – it's a tough thing to do, be in front for two and a half miles like that, but he's so genuine,' he added. It was a fifth Gold Cup for Gosden Snr, the 74-year-old stalwart of British racing who landed a hat-trick with Stradivarius and is emerging once more as the main threat to O'Brien's dominance this week. Despite Gosden's hot streak this week, he still goes into the final two days level with O'Brien, who came up short in the Gold Cup but saddled a notable hat-trick in combination with Ryan Moore. The English jockey took his Royal Ascot tally to 90 when Trinity College completed the three-timer in the Hampton Court. It began with Charles Darwin's odds-on victory in the Norfolk Stakes and included Garden Of Eden in the Ribblesdale. Her victory took Moore into tenth place in the list of all-time jockeys in terms of winners ridden in Britain. Number 2,594 saw him pass out Edward Hide, but he has another 155 to get to past the legendary Fred Archer in ninth. The Irishman needs three to beat his 2016 record of seven winners in a week that he shares with the late Henry Cecil. He has runners in eight races over the coming two days. O'Brien's speciality this week has been the two-year-old department. Gstaad (Coventry) and True Love (Queen Mary) had earlier advertised Charles Darwin's claims for Norfolk Stakes success and the odds-on favourite duly obliged. 'He is very fast – a big, powerful, strong horse. He has a very good mind as well, so he is very exciting. Ryan has always loved him, and everyone at home loves him. Some bookmakers made the youngster only 4-1 to take on his elders in August's Nunthorpe at York, where Charles Darwin would get a massive weight for age allowance. 'We were hoping that he would get a lead. He never sees the front at home in his work. He is always very happy to sit, but he is very strong and very quick. Ryan does his own thing always. The gates open and he decides. Ryan said he powered through the line,' O'Brien added. Garden Of Eden may skip next month's Irish Oaks in favour of a trip to the US in pursuit of a top-flight success, while Trinity College made light of a short gap since his French Derby fourth to make most in his Group Three. 'Ryan gave him a beautiful ride, had him in a lovely rhythm early and when he started getting him to move, he really moved, kept going to the line so you'd be very happy with him now,' O'Brien said. 'He would have a lot of options. He could be an American Derby horse.' Oisín Murphy reached 18 Royal Ascot winners with a handicap double. The Kerry jockey enjoyed an easy win in the finale on Never So Brave but was all out to land the Britannia on another Godolphin winner, Arabian Story.
