King: Rani Mukerji To Reunite With Shah Rukh Khan, Character Details Revealed

Rani Mukerji and Shah Rukh Khan have given many hits back in the 2000s, with films like Chalte Chalte, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, to name a few.
Shah Rukh Khan who gave three massive blockbusters in 2023 with Pathaan, Jawan, and Dunki, is all set to start filming for Siddharth Anand's King. The film also features Suhana Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Jackie Shroff, Jaideep Ahlawat, Abhay Verma, and Arshad Warsi in key roles.
But what's grabbing more attention is the slew of A-listers who are all set to be a part of the film. From Deepika Padukone, Salman Khan, Ranbir Kapoor, and Alia Bhatt, the latest name to join the bandwagon is none other than Rani Mukerji.
A close source to the film, revealed to Pinkvilla,"Rani Mukerji and Shah Rukh Khan have worked together on films like Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham, and Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna among others, and are now all set for a reunion. Rani Mukerji has been cast to play the part of Suhana Khan's mother, and it's a role which acts as a catalyst for the entire action-thriller in the film."

The source further added, "It was a no-brainer for Rani to say yes to Shah Rukh Khan and Siddharth Anand's offer for King. She heard the part, and instantly agreed to onboard the film. Rani's track is the heart of King, leading to the emotional depth."
The Siddharth Anand directorial is all set to begin filming in Mumbai from May 20, which will be followed by the next schedule in Europe. King is slated for a theatrical release some time between October to December 2026.
On the work front, Rani Mukerji is currently busy shooting for Mardaani 3.

Housefull 5 grossed Rs 26.50 crore (Rs 22 crore net) in India and Rs 10.75 crore (USD 1.25m) internationally for a worldwide opening day of Rs 37.25 crore. This is a robust opening day for the Akshay Kumar starrer, standing tall as one of the best in his career. The India opening can be classified as good while the overseas opening is very good. The India opening of Housefull 5 is pretty much on expected lines, in-fact slightly lower than we predicted. It is still good and it has given the movie the foundation to grow big over the weekend. The opening internationally, however, is significantly higher than expected and a weekend of over USD 4 million is locked. The global opening weekend shall be around or slightly under Rs 150 crore, setting the comedy up well for the days ahead. Housefull 5, starring Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh and Abhishek Bachchan, was released on June 6 amid mixed reviews. Let's find out how much it collected at the box office on the day of its release. But, before that, let's find out how much is at stake. The total budget for Housefull 5 is ₹ 240 crore, according to Pinkvilla. Out of this, ₹ 225 crore was used for production. This covers the cost of paying the actors, shooting in multiple locations, building large sets and adding special effects. Another ₹ 15 crore was set aside for promotion, including posters, trailers and media events. Even before the film hit cinemas, it earned ₹ 135 crore through non-theatrical deals, the publication added. The digital streaming rights were sold for ₹ 75 crore, TV satellite rights brought in ₹ 40 crore, and the music rights fetched ₹ 20 crore. However, to break even, the film still needs to earn ₹ 105 crore through theatre collections. For this, it must collect around ₹ 250 crore from cinemas worldwide. Just breaking even is not enough to call a film a hit. For Housefull 5 to be considered a success at the box office, it needs to gross at least ₹ 325 crore worldwide, Pinkvilla added. This impressive figure places it as the fourth-highest first-day grosser in Akshay Kumar's Bollywood career. It trails behind Mission Mangal ( ₹ 29.16 crore), Sooryavanshi ( ₹ 26.29 crore) and Gold ( ₹ 25.25 crore). With this performance, Housefull 5 has overtaken the opening figures of other notable Akshay Kumar films like Kesari ( ₹ 21.06 crore), Singh Is Bliing ( ₹ 20.67 crore) and 2.0 (Hindi version, ₹ 20.25 crore).
