Alleged Hamas supporter jailed after trying to enter UK illegally
Abu Wadee, 33, also known as Mosab Abdulkarim Al-Gassas, pleaded guilty on Monday to trying to get into the country on March 6 without leave or valid entry clearance.
He was arrested by immigration enforcement officers after arriving on a small boat in Kent, having paid smugglers 1,500 euros (£1,300), Canterbury Crown Court heard.
Wadee was then placed in a hotel in the Manchester area.
He had livestreamed his arrival on an 'overcrowded and rigid inflatable boat', the court heard.
Judge Sarah Counsell, sentencing, said there is 'legitimate public concern about breaches of border control' over illegal boat crossings, which are of 'significant profit to organised criminals'.
She told Wadee that there was a 'risk of death or injury to you and others'.
The defendant, who left Palestine in 2022 before making asylum claims in Greece, Germany and Belgium, had no familial or financial ties to the UK and had stayed between Calais and Dunkirk in France for a week before making the crossing, the court heard.
He livestreamed his dinghy being approached by a Border Force vessel on TikTok.
The court was shown a 20-second clip of the livestream on Monday, but it is not known how many viewed it at the time.
Wadee has a large following on social media, where his TikTok videos attract up to 2.5 million views, The Mail on Sunday claimed.
He is alleged to have charted his journey from Gaza on the social media channel.
His arrival in the UK made national headlines after it was reported that Wadee, a Palestinian from the city of Khan Yunis in Gaza, had posted on social media support for terror group Hamas, and hate-speech calling for the death of Jews.
He posted a video on his Facebook page last September in which he is filmed calling for Allah to 'punish (Jews) completely', it was reported.
In another picture posted on Facebook in March 2021, it is claimed Wadee stared into the camera while smoking a cigarette and brandishing an assault rifle with a telescopic sight.

Instead, Netanyahu bragged that 'Israel is working to defeat Hamas in various ways, on the recommendation of all heads of the security establishment'. In a video message, he clarified that Israel had 'activated clans in Gaza that oppose Hamas', shamelessly calling it 'a good thing' which was saving the lives of Israeli soldiers. 'What's wrong with that?' We're talking here about a militia headed by a man named Yasser Abu Shabab. He styles his faction as the 'Anti Terror Service', but it is a criminal gang operating in an area of Rafah firmly under Israeli military control. His own family has not only disowned him, but backed his execution. According to Palestinian analyst Muhammad Shehada, his militia is composed of 300 'drug dealers and criminals.' And here's the important detail. To justify imposing a total siege on Gaza, Israel claimed that Hamas was stealing humanitarian food. Among those pointing out this wasn't true was Cindy McCain, widow of the late hawkish Republican senator John McCain, and now director of the World Food Programme. But we do know that Shabab's Israel-backed gang has been stealing aid. As ever with the Israeli authorities: every accusation is a confession. This is just another plank of Israel's starvation policy. But again, the Western media has overwhelmingly failed to clearly spell out what Israel is actually doing. Having imposed a total siege on Gaza since March 2, Israel set up a US-backed shadow entity named the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation to explicitly supplant the UN. It hasn't just been rejected by every aid agency – even the US marine who heads it resigned on the basis it contradicted the basic principles of humanitarianism. The Foundation set three aid checkpoints in the south in an effort to concentrate Gaza's entire population into a confined area – a concentration camp. Too little aid was delivered, much of it unusable given the siege on cooking materials. But in any case, the Israeli military repeatedly fired on starving Palestinians. In the words of Tory MP Kit Malthouse, the UN system had been replaced with a 'shooting range, an abattoir'. But when the Israeli military massacred dozens of starving Palestinians, they deployed their usual strategy: deceive, deflect, deny, distort. Even though the shootings happened in an Israeli military zone, and despite the overwhelming evidence of Israeli lies, the Western media indulged Israeli claims that Hamas was responsible as if they were credible. CNN belatedly published a clear rebuttal of Israeli lies, but attention had already moved on. As ever, the Western media overall fail to allow Israeli responsibility for atrocities to stick. And yet now, even as Yair Lapid – the main opposition leader – states Netanyahu is 'giving weapons to organisations close to ISIS in Gaza', this latest plank of Israel's starvation strategy barely gets any coverage. This is despite Israel's 'Hamas is ISIS' campaign long being used to justify the genocide. This all fits a classic pattern, of course. Israel encouraged the rise of Hamas in the 1980s in order to undermine its public enemy number one at the time, Yasser Arafat's Fatah. More recently, Netanyahu worked with Qatar to transfer money to prop up Hamas – with the hope of dividing the Palestinian nation and movement so an independent state was impossible. Remember too how the West armed and backed the Mujahideen against the Soviets in Afghanistan in the 1980s, playing a crucial role in creating the global Islamist fundamentalist movement. You would think the Western media might take an interest given the precedents. It is true that there is a shift taking place. Israeli spokespeople are suddenly being taken apart on mainstream television. Sky News is demanding the Prime Minister answer if genocide is taking place. But the media narrative still has not clearly shifted to reality – that is, a crime of historic proportions is being facilitated by Western governments, which means questions should be focused on 'how can this crime be stopped, and perpetrators held to justice' rather than 'is Israel doing something very bad here?' The latter is an improvement on where the narrative was stuck for so long – which was essentially 'Israel is waging a war of self-defence', with a side debate about whether the 'response' was 'proportionate'. What is clear is that an understanding is creeping into the political and media elites that a reckoning is coming, where those who facilitated this abomination will be forced to answer for what they did and what they didn't do. Time is running out.

Escaped killer cop known as 'Devil of the Ozarks' has been captured
Former police chief Grant Hardin has been found after escaping from prison last month. Hardin, 56, escaped from the North Central Prison Unit in Calico Rock on May 25. The convicted rapist and murderer - who is also a former police officer - escaped in a disguise from a maximum-security wing. According to NBC news Hardin walked out the North Central Unit just before 3pm after he disguised himself in a "makeshift" law enforcement uniform. An affidavit stated that he "impersonated a corrections officer in dress and manner, causing a corrections officer operating a secure gate to open the gate." The Stone County Sheriff's Department made the announcement on its Facebook page: 'As of Friday, June 6th, 2025, at approximately 3:45 PM, escaped inmate Grant Hardin has been apprehended, and the public is no longer in danger.' The former Arkansas police chief was serving decades long sentences for his crimes and had been held at the North Central Unit in Calico Rock since 2017. He pleaded guilty in October 2017 to first-degree murder in connection with the shooting death of 59-year-old James Appleton. He was sentenced to 30 years in prison for this case and he is also serving 50 years in prison for the 1997 rape of an elementary school teacher. Hardin was also the subject of the TV documentary "Devil in the Ozarks". The convict held a job at the kitchen in the prison and cops revealed they were looking into whether this role had helped Hardin escape. Champion said: "His job assignment was in the kitchen, so just looking to see if that played a part in it as well." Scots warned of dire consequences of using modified Amazon Fire Sticks
Sophisticated scam operations selling the illegal devices were found operating on social media, with thousands of ads. Millions of people in the UK using modified Amazon Fire Sticks to illegally stream TV programming have been warned they could be prosecuted for taking part in funding international piracy gangs. The caution comes from Kieron Sharp, a former detective with the City of London Police, who is now chairing Federation Against Copyright Theft (FACT) and its fight against the fraud, which costs an estimated £21 billion a year. An increasing number of Brits are believed to be using the illegal devices, but also risk identity theft, criminals stealing their bank details, and malware viruses infecting their personal devices. It is estimated that 6.2 million people illegally stream TV, and 3.2 million access pirated live sport. Our sister title The Mirror carried out an investigation into the fraudulent business of selling the modified Fire Sticks. Tens of thousands of adverts are posted publicly on Facebook, offering thousands of TV channels for just a few pounds a month. In one case, a single UK mobile number was used in 800 ads on the platform offering "packages" for as little as £6. Customers are told to contact the criminal sellers on WhatsApp. The entire process suggests a sophisticated scam operation that expects its ads to be removed and linked accounts blocked. One seller offered 'All Sky channels, all sports channels, all football events, Netflix, HBO, Disney +, Amazon Prime and Apple' for as little as £2.50 a month, with subscriptions starting at £35 for six months, or £150 for five years. In comparison, anyone wanting to follow all the Premier League matches legally would have to shell out nearly £50 a month for the cheapest offers. The seller, who claimed to be from a company called IPTV, 'Don't worry, we are providing services all over the UK", in an attempt to claim their service was legal. IPTV is a generic term for Internet Protocol Television. They added: 'It's [an] online service to provide channels on fire stick, smart TVs, android TVs, mobile phone as well. We can provide subscriptions to other countries like Australia, USA and Canada.' However, there is no guarantee those behind the fraud will be around long enough to close the deal. In January, a man streaming illegally to thousands from his Birmingham home was jailed for two years. Meanwhile, criminals are mining thousands of people's personal data, including card details, and can infect their devices with malware. Kieron Sharp said that those who use the illegal streaming services are also breaking the law and risk prosecution. FACT is assisting in exposing gangs like those on Facebook, with 36 people since jailed for an average of almost three years each. Kieron, who is also a former head of the economic crime team at Interpol, said: 'This has been a problem forever, since the days of pirated video cassettes and DVDs. But the rise of streaming has made things easier for the criminal in the same way as it has made things easier for the legal consumer. Is it any more of a problem than it was years ago? That's very difficult to say. There's no complete picture of the landscape.' He added: 'If we take out a gang and they have a customer database, we would normally write to the consumers on that customer list telling them 'What you are doing is breaking the law and you will have to stop'. We would like to think that they would start paying for that content. 'But it is entirely possible that consumers could get swept up in our investigations. It would be a discussion for everybody involved in the business to see if that is an area that we would want to go down. It could happen, it really could. I would never say to any of the consumers through the messaging that we do that they are not going to get prosecuted because that just isn't correct.' Sunny Kumar Kanda from Halifax was jailed for two years for supplying modified Fire Sticks via a Facebook group consisting of over 4,000 members. Fellow seller Jonathan Edge from Liverpool was sentenced to more than three years, with a further sentence of two years and three months for viewing the content he distributed to be served immediately after. If you give over your credit card details, you are giving them to criminals. 'They could get access to the camera on your TV, if it has one, or microphone. There is no safety or security with what you are getting with these modified devices. Some people set them up just to get your personal details.' A recent report by Enders Analysis accused Amazon's £25 Fire Stick of allowing 'plug-and-play piracy', with three in five who used a physical device for piracy in the last 12 months choosing the Fire Stick, according to Sky. Amazon said it had made changes to Fire TV to make streaming illegal content more difficult. An Amazon spokesperson said: 'Pirated content violates our policies regarding intellectual property rights, and compromises the security and privacy of our customers. 'We remain vigilant in our efforts to combat piracy and protect customers from the risks associated with pirated content, which includes prohibiting apps that infringe upon the rights of third parties in our Appstore, and warning customers of the risks associated with installing or using apps from unknown sources.'
