CNN Host Asks Hysterical Stephen Miller to ‘Calm Down' in Live Interview
An interview between a CNN anchor and a top Trump aide turned sour Tuesday after adviser Stephen Miller blew a fuse on-air while trying to defend Elon Musk and the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
Although things were generally civil between anchor Brianna Keilar and the White House Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy at the start of their discussion, probing into who exactly is running DOGE, the mood quickly turned south when Keilar pried into who was in charge of terminating 300 employees at the National Nuclear Security Administration on Thursday—only to have the Department of Energy rescind it the next day.
'Well, in that case the secretary of energy would be the one,' the White House Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy replied. 'So what you're describing would be the cuts in the Department of Energy, those are directed by the Senate-confirmed secretary of energy.'
'OK, so that was the secretary of energy's mistake?' Keiler inquired.
'Well, I wouldn't use the term mistake,' Miller retorted. 'I would say that it's pretty standard when you're downsizing government, you make cuts, you assess those cuts. You see who needs to be rehired, you see who needs to be kept, who needs to be reevaluated.'
When Keilar described the chain of events at the Department of Energy last week as abnormal, Miller's facade gradually began to crack as he clapped back: 'I understand that even a temporary interruption in federal employment is a great crisis and catastrophe for you, and for CNN.'
As the two continued to exchange back-and-forths, that included Keilar having to clarify that she's not a federal employee, Miller eventually snapped when Keiler said that she doesn't believe anyone would 'assert' that there's no monetary waste in government, prompting him to yell: 'Then why are you not celebrating these cuts?!
'If you agree there is waste, if you agree there is abuse, if you agree there is corruption, why are you not celebrating the cuts, the reforms that are being instituted?' the homeland security adviser bellowed. 'Every day that no action is taken the entire salary of American workers that are taxed disappears forever.'
'Stephen, let's calm down,' Keilar replied. 'We're not having a debate.'
'Well you are clearly trying to debate me,' Miller quipped back. 'And I will be as excited as I want to be about the fact that we are saving Americans billions of dollars.'
Miller is a mainstay in President Donald Trump's orbit having worked on his 2016 presidential campaign and in the White House during his first term as a senior adviser. He's largely known for authoring some of the first Trump administration's more draconian immigration policies including the zero tolerance policies at the border.
His defense of DOGE comes after a Monday court filing from the White House clarified that Musk is not an employee nor administrator of the department. The document instead describes Musk as a 'senior adviser to the president' who has 'no actual or formal authority to make government decisions himself.'

Semi-conductor group Alphawave is latest tech company to quit London listing as it agrees £1.8bn takeover
Semi-conductor group Alphawave IP is to become the latest major London listed company to leave the stock market after agreeing a £1.8 billion takeover from US chip giant Qualcomm. The Gresham Street headquartered company told shareholders this morning it had finally struck a deal with its suitor after an extension for the takeover deadline was extended for the fifth time last week. Anglo-Canadian Alphawave listed in London in May 2021 when it sold £856 million of shares in an IPO valuing it at £3.1 billion. It is the latest in a stream of tech companies to quit their London listings. Last week fintech Wise said it is switching its primary listing to America. The deal overshadowed the launch of London Tech Week which was attended by Keir Starmer and Nvidia boss Jensen Huang. Darius McDermott, managing director at investment research agency FundCalibre said:'It's a telling contrast: the Prime Minister courts Nvidia's Jensen Huang just as another UK tech success story, Alphawave, is set to be acquired by an American buyer. 'Our view is the government must prioritise policies that support domestic UK capital markets – not kill them. They are critical for a well-functioning economy and society. For too long, the government has neglected, overregulated and taxed them, driving liquidity and investment out of the UK.' Alphawave, which is advised by Goldman Sachs and BMO, originally confirmed it was in talks about a sale as long ago as 1 April. But it has repeatedly pushed back the so called 'put up or shut up' deadline. Under the terms of the now agreed acquisition Alphawave shareholders will receive $2.48 in cash for each share, equivalent to 183 p. It represents a 96% premium to the share price before the start of takeover speculation. Alphawave shareholders have an option to receive the cash in sterling or in new Qualcomm shares at a rate of 0.01662 Qualcomm shares for each Alphawave share held. There is also a further alternative of 0.00964 of a New Series A Qualcomm Exchangeable Security and 0.00698 of a New Series B Qualcomm Exchangeable Security for each Alphawave share. Tony Pialis, President and chief executive officer of Alphawave, said:"Qualcomm's acquisition of Alphawave represents a significant milestone for us and an opportunity for our business to join forces with a respected industry leader and drive value to our customers. 'By combining our resources and expertise, we will be well-positioned to expand our product offerings, reach a broader customer base, and enhance our technological capabilities. Together, we will unlock new opportunities for growth, drive innovation, and create a leading player in AI compute and connectivity solutions. For our shareholders, the Alphawave Board is pleased that Qualcomm's offer provides an opportunity to realise compelling value for their shares." Cristiano Amon, President and chief executive officer of Qualcomm, said:"Under Tony's leadership Alphawave has developed leading high-speed wired connectivity and compute technologies that are complementary to our power-efficient CPU and NPU cores. Qualcomm's advanced custom processors are a natural fit for data centre workloads. 'The combined teams share the goal of building advanced technology solutions and enabling next-level connected computing performance across a wide array of high growth areas, including data centre infrastructure." Rubio congratulates Russian people on Russia Day
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio congratulated the Russian people on June 12, Russia's National Day, and expressed a desire for "constructive engagement" to bring peace to Ukraine. "On behalf of the American people, I want to congratulate the Russian people on Russia Day," Rubio said in a statement published on the State Department's website. "The United States remains committed to supporting the Russian people as they continue to build on their aspirations for a brighter future." After taking office in January, the new U.S. administration took a sharp break from ex-President Joe Biden's policy on Ukraine and Russia. U.S. President Donald Trump's team has sought to broker a peace deal between Kyiv and Moscow while being reluctant to commit additional funds or military aid to the besieged country. "It is our hope that peace will foster more mutually beneficial relations between our countries," Rubio said. Washington has also signaled an intent to restore ties with Moscow, with both sides discussing venues for possible economic cooperation. While the Biden administration imposed massive sanctions on Russia and sought to isolate Russian President Vladimir Putin on the international stage, Trump has often boasted about his close ties with the Russian leader and refused to impose additional economic restrictions. Russia Day, also known as the Day of Adoption of the Declaration of State Sovereignty of the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic, has been celebrated annually on June 12 since 1992. The day commemorates the declaration of Russia's state sovereignty from the Soviet Union, marking the start of a constitutional reform that eventually led to the breakdown of the USSR. Grant Funding Investment at South Crofty Tin Project
VANCOUVER, British Columbia, June 12, 2025 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Cornish Metals Inc. (AIM/TSX-V: CUSN) ('Cornish Metals' or the 'Company'), a mineral exploration and development company focused on advancing its 100% owned and permitted South Crofty tin project in Cornwall, United Kingdom, is pleased to announce that South Crofty's Bartles Foundry project has received grant funding of up to £4,190,500 from the Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Good Growth Programme, which is managed by Cornwall Council and funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund ('SPF'). The grant funding is equivalent to a maximum of 62% of the total Bartles Foundry project cost estimated at approximately £6.8 million for the construction of workshops, stores and offices on the Bartles Foundry site. This will support the requirements associated with South Crofty moving to production and includes the cost for the previously announced purchase of 4.5 acres of land from Cornwall Council (see press release dated April 1, 2025). Conditional planning approval for the development was granted in January 2025. This project follows on from the SPF part-funded study in 2024 which concluded that the site was suitable for development. Don Turvey, CEO and Director of Cornish Metals, stated: 'We are delighted to be awarded this grant funding by Cornwall Council, demonstrating ongoing local support for South Crofty and following on from the investment by the UK's National Wealth Fund earlier this year. This funding will enable the construction of the Bartles Foundry project that will support South Crofty as we move into the underground development phase, which will provide local employment opportunities during the construction and operational phase.' Cllr Tim Dwelly, Cornwall Council's Cabinet Member for Economic Regeneration and Investment, said: 'South Crofty is a big priority for us. Not only are they supporting high-quality well-paid jobs in the area, they are also helping the security of the whole UK by strengthening the domestic supply of essential minerals. I am proud to support this next step towards bringing tin mining back to Cornwall.'
