Fred Sirieix dealt bitter blow as his TV series is axed despite solid ratings - and fans will be gutted

Daily Mail19-05-2025

Fred Sirieix has been dealt a bitter blow after his TV series was axed despite solid ratings.
The travel and food show, titled The World Cook, first aired in 2022 and saw 16 chefs from across the globe go head-to-head in a culinary competition.
Contestants would be tasked with preparing local cuisine from the destination they had been flown to.
After two successful seasons on Amazon Prime Video, in partnership with TUI, the series has taken co-hosts Emma Willis and Fred to many locations including Mexico, Thailand and Croatia.
However, The World Cook has reportedly been axed and won't see another season, according to The Sun.
An insider told the publication: 'Fans loved watching Emma and Fred on The World Cook and will be gutted it won't be back any time soon.
'It was a major show for both hosts, too, as it was their first foray into presenting for a global streaming channel, with the series going out around the world.
'It had a great run and everyone who worked on the show was pleased with it, but it felt like it had naturally come to the end of its course.'
The first two seasons are still currently available to watch on the streaming platform.
MailOnline has approached Amazon for comment.
It comes after Fred signed up for the upcoming series of Who Do You Think You Are? with the TV star set to delve into his family ancestry.
The First Dates maître d'hôtel, is set to discover his shock family history, and he may not be as French as he thinks he is.
The upcoming series of the BBC One genealogy show, which is set to air on May 27, will also feature former BBC Radio 2 Breakfast Show host Zoe Ball.
A TV insider told The Sun: 'Fred probably isn't top billing on the series, but he'll certainly have one of the more interesting family backgrounds.
'Though he's famous for being French, his family history is likely to throw up quite a few surprises as he goes on his genealogy journey.
It comes after Fred signed up for the upcoming series of Who Do You Think You Are? with the TV star set to delve into his family ancestry
'He recently discovered he has some surprising ancestry, so the programme might take him in that direction — but producers are keeping everything under wraps.'
Last year Fred opened up about his roots in an interview with BBC Radio Wales as he admitted a recent DNA test had revealed he was actually six per cent Welsh.
He told host Lucy Owen: 'It so happens that I am six per cent Welsh, and a little bit Irish and a little bit English as well.
'But it's not a surprise because where I'm from in Limoges used to be a Celt settlement maybe 3,000 years ago.
'The Celts went from Wales and Ireland to Brittany and they went to Limoges, which is why according to my DNA I am 78 per cent French only.'

Morrisons to revamp UK stores to offer 'farm shop' produce

The chain revealed that it would be undertaking the transition as part of a fresh initiative aiming to entice "amateur home cooks" with fresh produce. Customers can expect products like those found in farm shops, featuring 'superior quality goods and enticing pre-prepared foods such as marinated meats and breaded fish ready for cooking', the Grocer revealed. Andrew Staniland, Morrisons' new trading director, told the Grocer: "The crisper, cleaner look is underscoring our value credentials, together with a tighter focus on customer favourites, some great innovations, and some wonderful new products." The changes are expected to be rolled out in the next few months across all of Morrisons UK stores. Morrisons in Warrington was one of the early stores to experience the revamp, where around 2,500 stock keeping units (SKUs) were replaced by 500 fresh products. SKUs represent individual product lines. The revamp to stores comes as it was revealed earlier this week that Morrisons would be expanding its More Card loyalty scheme to include over 300 big name brands. Those who have a More Card can now earn points shopping via the Morrisons More App or More website, with partners including big brands such as eBay and Just Eat. Recommended reading: Customers need to log into their Morrisons More App or the More website to browse, then click through to a partner retailer and complete their purchase. It also emerged on Wednesday (May 21) that Morrisons had signed an exclusive deal to sponsor the fourth season of Jeremy Clarkson's Amazon Prime hit Clarkson's Farm. Each episode aired in the UK will feature one 10-second ident, which is the only pre-show advert and connects the Morrisons brand to the series.

The Walking Dead: Dead City – Season 2 Episode 6 'Bridge Partners Are Hard to Come by These Days' Recap & Review

Episode 6 Episode 6 of The Walking Dead: Dead City Season 2 begins with Bruegel bringing Ginny, Hershel, Maggie and Perlie to his museum. After they head in, one of the guards is dragged away. Meanwhile, the Croat tries to defend himself as he explains the Dama's death to Negan. Negan is ready to kill him but thankfully, the Croat doesn't figure out his trap. In fact, Croat tells him that he is free to go with his family. Back at the museum, Maggie convinces Perlie to head home. Her progress is ruined when Bruegel offers to give Perlie the methane and destroy the Burazi. In exchange, Perlie is to end New Babylon's invasion. We also see Bruegel heartlessly killing the mauled guard. Maggie doesn't trust him and is shocked to see Perlie consider his offer. It cuts to Negan and the Croat discussing what to do next. The Croat regrets the Dama's death and the eventual departure of Negan. He is lonely and Negan claims it is a fresh start. They smoke together and the Croat tries to convince Negan to come to Croatia with him. The moment is broken when the Croat sees Negan's bloody boot and realises that he killed Dama's rat. The Croat grabs Lucille 2.0 and beats up Negan, upset by his betrayal and manipulation. Negan gets the upper hand and a cowering Croat declares that he is what Negan made him. Negan looks sad but kicks him out. Onto the methane drama, Perlie wants the dead soldiers' sacrifice to mean something. Maggie insists that they can get the methane alone and Perlie realises that she doesn't want Bruegel to kill Negan. Both Hershel and Ginny are upset by this revelation. Ginny storms off and Maggie goes after her. She sees herself in Ginny and explains that she is conflicted about killing Negan, as she is scared of the other side. Maggie adds that revenge has cost her everything and it won't get better with Negan's death. Back to Negan, he mourns Croat's exit and hides in the prison. He finds Benjamin and frees him. But the historian doesn't know what to do next as he has lost his purpose. Negan declares that history is just the winner's story. He believed that by killing rival surviving communities, his people were winning. But now, he realises that he has just broken his own people, like the Croat. That night, Hershel tries to infect the museum's water supply with walker blood. Maggie stops him and begs him to go home. She blames the Dama's influence and he lashes out at her. He brings up her obsession with Negan and because of it, he has no real home. He tries to leave, but a bear pops up. Maggie tries to distract it but she is cornered. Hershel weakens it with his knives and kills it before running off. Maggie goes after him and runs into Negan. He comforts her as he explains the Dama's almost-magical pull on lost minds. He deduces that Hershel has gone to the Dama's theatre, and in exchange, she tells him about Bruegel's ambush. He asks about Ginny and ends up trauma-dumping on how he may be a threat to his family. Maggie looks uncomfortable and leaves. The next morning, Annie and Joshua arrive but Negan tells the Burazi to take them back to Tennessee. He goes as far as to hide so his wife and son don't spot him. Elsewhere, Ginny and Perlie are upset as they think Maggie and Hershel have abandoned them. Bruegel invites Perlie to a game of bridge and mocks Maggie's thoughts on cheating. To him, all that matters is the actual game. There is a walker chained up and we see it is Lucia. Before she turned, she told Bruegel about Perlie's lies on killing Negan. Bruegel looks gleeful as he claims that whether Perlie likes it or not, he is stuck in the game. At the end of The Walking Dead: Dead City Season 2 Episode 6, Ginny points a gun at Negan. She hesitates to kill him and then passes out. He looks worried as her wound is infected. The Episode Review The Walking Dead: Dead City Season 2 Episode 6 is yet another highlight of the season with the ingenious bear action, the angsty bromance, bittersweet reunions and betrayals. The cherry on top is the fact that Lauren Cohan is the director while churning out some hard-hitting performances and action sequences in this episode. Viewers can see just how well she knows the characters as we get several emotional, unsaid moments from Negan's remorse at kicking out the Croat to Ginny hesitating to kill Negan. Bruegel finally fills in the space as a worthy antagonist now that the Dama and Lucia are gone. His final reveal of walker Lucia heightens the stakes for Perlie who knows he is a dead man if New Babylon finds out about Negan. And with Bruegel being a cheat, our heroes are in danger of being betrayed. Previous Episode Next Episode Expect A Full Season Write-Up When This Season Concludes!
