Three Rescued After Surviving 12 Hours on Icy Alaska Lake Following Plane Crash
A pilot and two children were rescued on Monday, March 24, after surviving about 12 hours on the icy Tustumena Lake in Kenai Peninsula, Alaska, following a small plane crash, according to reports.
The search and rescue operation for the trio occurred after the pilot's father, who is also the girls' grandfather, flagged their disappearance in a now deleted Facebook post.
'My son is long overdue from a Sunday afternoon flight,' John B. Morris wrote in the post. 'His cell phone last pinged in the Tustumena Lake area. My two granddaughters are on board also … This is my plea for any and all to help locate my family.'
According to Anchorage Daily News, the three victims were rescued by the Alaska National Guard after a local named Terry Godes located the aircraft on the surface of the lake.
Dale Eicher, who supplied Storyful with the pictures showing the plane partially submerged in ice and the three survivors propped on its wing, provided the aircraft's coordinates to authorities, Anchorage Daily News reported.

Disruption after boat hits bridge
Railway services have been disrupted after a boat hit a bridge. Network Rail said it was notified at about 8:15 BST that a "commercial boat" had collided with the Kingsferry Bridge, connecting the Isle of Sheppey and mainland Kent. Southeastern said it suspended the Sheerness-on-Sea line due to the strike, although it added shortly after 10:00 that normal services would resume shortly. Delays of up to 25 minutes on Southeastern trains between Sittingbourne and Sheerness were reported by INRIX after the strike. Network Rail said the bridge was held in a raised position while its teams examined the structure, which they deemed "safe to reopen". It thanked passengers for their patience. He got his thunder back. A heartwarming video shows the elated moment a young stallion who had spent most of his short, miserable life in a cramped pen in Florida tastes freedom for the first time. The horse named Thunder was rescued Sunday from horrific and neglectful conditions at a farm in Lake Wales, about 60 miles east of Tampa. Barbara Suarez, Thunder's owner, was charged with animal neglect and resisting arrest. Jorge Almeida Rodriguez and Idanys Queveto were charged with environmental crimes; Hennycha Rosa Rosa was charged with resisting arrest.
