Technology Solutions Spanning Three Zones Generate Substantial Interest among Students, Industry Partners, and Investors.
Abu Dhabi-UAE:February 2025: Khalifa University of Science and Technology today announced the second edition of the annual Research and Innovation Exhibition 2025 attracted nearly 2,000 visitors, generating substantial interest among various stakeholders, once again demonstrating the pioneering role of the University, while marking the end of the UAE's Innovation Month.
H.E. Mansour Ibrahim Al Mansouri, Member of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, and Chairman of the Department of Health (DoH) – Abu Dhabi, H.E. Ahmed Jasim Al Zaabi, Member of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development (ADDED), H.E. Dr. Abdulla Humaid Saif Al Jarwan, Member of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council and Chairman of the Department of Energy, H.E. Dr. Mugheer Khamis Al Khaili, Chairman of the Department of Community Development, and Major General Ahmed Saif bin Zaytoon Al Muhairi, Commander-in-Chief of Abu Dhabi Police, Mohamed Ali Al Shorafa, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Department of Municipalities and Transport and Member of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council as well as the delegations were welcomed by H.E. Professor Ebrahim Al Hajri, President, Khalifa University. The officials engaged with scientists, researchers, and industry partners and commended Khalifa University for organizing such an impactful event during this month, paving the way for technological advancements.
His Excellency Ahmed Jasim Al Zaabi, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development (ADDED), said: 'Khalifa University of Science and Technology is playing a key role in shaping our future by fostering innovation across various sectors and enabling bright minds to take the charge in surmounting challenges of today and tomorrow.
His Excellency Dr. Abdullah Humaid Al Jarwan, Chairman of the Department of Energy in Abu Dhabi, praised the organization of the Research and Innovation Exhibition at Khalifa University, which reflects the university's deep commitment to promoting innovation and supporting pioneering research in various fields.
His Excellency emphasized that this event serves as a distinguished platform that brings together researchers, innovators, and investors, contributing to the enhancement of collaboration between academia and industry.
He added that he looks forward to further fruitful cooperation between the Abu Dhabi Department of Energy and Khalifa University in the future to serve common goals, utilizing technology and innovative ideas to enhance security of supply, production costs, and sustainability. He also pointed out that such events play a vital role in fostering partnerships across different sectors.We are pleased that the outstanding projects and innovations featured at the Khalifa University Research and Innovation Exhibition 2025 focus on emerging and new industries and trends. This is in line with Abu Dhabi's strategies to supercharge economic growth and diversification by addressing the giga shifts in global economy and technological advancements, while placing human development and suitability at its heart'.
Students from across the UAE attended the event and interacted with world class innovators and gauged the extent of the University's involvement in academics and research. The students were also interested to learn more about real world solutions through projects on drones, the Lunar Rover, robotic fishes, artificial intelligence, genetics, and a knee exoskeleton. The exhibition featured over 100 cutting-edge projects spanning across three zones that focused on research, industry applications and startups.

This strategic step reflects the Chamber's vision to strengthen the foundations of family businesses, ensuring their contribution to Abu Dhabi's economic resilience and long-term prosperity. His Excellency Ahmed Jasim Al Zaabi, Chairman of ADCCI, said: 'Family businesses are the backbone of Abu Dhabi's private sector, contributing significantly to our economic diversification and global competitiveness. As we accelerate our journey toward a smart, sustainable, and innovation-led 'Falcon Economy,' we are deeply committed to empowering family enterprises to scale their impact and seize investment opportunities across local and international markets'. With their deep-rooted experience and forward-thinking leadership, the Council will enhance the capabilities of family businesses across priority sectors—cementing their role as a driving force in Abu Dhabi's next phase of economic development.' H. E. Khaled Al Fahim has been named Chairman of Abu Dhabi Family Business Council (ADFBC) and H.E. Masood Al Masaood appointed as Vice Chairman. Together, they will guide the Council as it works to empower family businesses to grow, evolve, and contribute more deeply to the national economy. A respected figure in the UAE's business community, H.E. Khaled Al Fahim brings more than 20 years of leadership experience to his new leadership role. He currently serves on the board of ADCCI and is widely recognised for his expertise in corporate governance and board management across the Middle East. Throughout his career, he has helped companies navigate complex restructuring efforts and respond to shifting economic landscapes, particularly in the financial sector. Beyond his work with ADCCI, Al Fahim serves on the boards of Blacklane GmbH and ENBD REIT, and chairs Arady Properties and Ajyad Capital. He is also an Affiliate Partner at the Business Family House. He previously served as CEO of Products & Services at Al Fahim Group and holds a master's in Diplomacy from the University of Westminster and a bachelor's in Business Administration and Management. In his role as Vice Chairman, H.E. Masood Rahma Al Masaood Al Mehairbi will bring both business acumen and entrepreneurial drive. He currently serves as Treasurer of ADCCI and is the Chairman and Founder of the Emirates Angels Investors Association, which champions early-stage innovation. H.E. Al Masaood also plays a leading role in his family's businesses, serving as Vice Chairman of Al Masaood Oil & Gas and as a Board Member of Al Masaood Group. Moreover, his past experience as Deputy Managing Director of Al Masaood Automobiles was key to positioning the company as a top player in Abu Dhabi's automotive sector. Launched by ADCCI in December 2024, the Abu Dhabi Family Business Council supports family businesses navigating generational change, modernising operations, and playing a more active role in the economic diversification. Abu Dhabi Chamber and Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) join forces to deepen business relations at Abu Dhabi-Japan Business Connect Forum spotlighted investment opportunities in priority sectors as Abu Dhabi's non-oil exports surged by 86.4% in the past five years In line with efforts to strengthen cross-border partnerships and drive economic growth, the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce & Industry (ADCCI) hosted public and private sector leaders at the Abu Dhabi–Japan Business Connect Forum in Tokyo in presence of the UAE Ambassador to Japan, H.E. Shihab Al Faheem to explore key investment opportunities and exchange ideas on advancing sustainable development and innovation. Addressing the Forum, His Excellency Ahmed Jasim Al Zaabi, Chairman of ADCCI, said: 'Japan has played a pivotal role in shaping our development, from urban planning to industrial growth, and it remains one of our top trading partners.' H.E. noted that UAE's trade with Japan has grown at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 11.9% over the past five years. During the same period, the UAE's investments in Japan more than doubled, while the country attracted over 80 percent of all Japanese investments in the Middle East. H.E. added: 'Our advanced infrastructure, business-friendly ecosystem, smart city and quality of life initiatives have helped us attract global talent, entrepreneurs, and investors. Trade has been a key enabler of this economic growth,' pointing to Abu Dhabi's strong track record in economic diversification. H.E. noted that non-oil trade rose by 9% in 2024, while non-oil exports surged by 86.4% during the same period. H.E. also emphasized the importance of regulatory reforms, improved ease of doing business, and seamless digital integration to global business, while working closely with Japan to build a future that empowers economies, enriches societies, and inspires future generations. During the event, ADCCI and the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to deepen business relations and create new opportunities for collaboration between Abu Dhabi and Japan, reinforcing a shared vision for promoting long-term trade and sustainable growth, particularly in innovation, sustainability, and advanced technologies. The MOU was signed by H.E. Shamis Al Dhaheri, Second Vice Chairman and Managing Director of ADCCI, and Nobuyuki Nakajima, Managing Director of JETRO MENA, in the presence of the UAE Ambassador to Japan, H.E. Shihab Al Faheem — marking the start of a new phase of collaboration. H.E. Shamis said: ' The MOU with JETRO marks a key step in deepening economic ties between Abu Dhabi and Japan, while the forum provides a valuable platform to drive investment, foster innovation, and build sustainable partnerships across key industries.
