'Silent' tower fan is perfect for keeping cool on hot summer nights

Daily Record23-04-2025

This fan was a great choice for one shopper who said it 'is a game-changer for keeping cool during hot summer days.'
The days are getting longer, brighter and hotter as summer winds its way here. Hot weather is great, until it gets to nighttime and bedrooms become hot, stuffy and uncomfortable, meaning sleep is trickier too.
An essential around this time of year and into the summer months is a fan to bring some breeze and freshness to spaces whether it's the bedroom or communal living spaces. Shoppers are in luck as the Dreo 28dB Silent Tower Fan is down to £67.99 from £79.99 on Amazon.
This fan has a number of interesting features such as its all-in-one airflow system that combines with an electric motor meaning a whole living space can be aired as fast as up to 25 ft per second. If the bedroom is where it'll be housed, buyers no longer have to worry about the noisy loud sound that usually comes with using some makes of fans. This one has a number of features such as auto mute in sleep mode, an eight hour timer and a soft airflow which means no noise will be heard and shoppers can still get a peaceful night of sleep.
The 36-inch fan has safety covered as it includes a removable rear grille and is designed with fingertip, pinch-proof grills, a fused plug and built-in circuit protection. The versatile fan comes with four modes - normal, natural, sleep and auto - and four speeds ranging from soothing-soft to storm-strong and also has a 90 degree oscillation.
If this isn't the correct option for shoppers they could always try a more expensive option with the Dyson TP7A Purifier Cool Autoreact Fan from Argos for £300 which also captures dust, allergens and bacteria. This fan is suitable for room size up to 27m², has a noise level of 61dB and has 10 speed settings. For a slightly cheaper option the SHARK FlexBreeze HydroGo is £129.99 from Currys and has five speed settings, a quiet performance and 36W of power.
Although there are other options on the market, the Dreo fan did receive a 4.6 out of 5 star rating from a total of 33,642 reviews on Amazon. One shopper wrote: 'Bought this fan last year and honestly one of the best things I've ever purchased. It's so easy to use and it actually blows cold air rather than just circulating the hot air. The different modes are really helpful (sleep mode is so silent and perfect for me, I wake up to any noise). My whole family has bought one, I would 10/10 recommend it.'
Another said: 'I recently purchased the Dreo Tower Fan, and I couldn't be more pleased with my choice. This fan is a game-changer for keeping cool during hot summer days.'
'This fan is amazing. I've bought others which were too loud, or had annoying bright lights or just weren't very effective. This fan is none of those things. It's quiet, not totally silent but I can't sleep with a ticking clock and this fan doesn't bother me at all…The best thing I've bought in a long time,' said another customer.
Although the majority of reviews were positive, there were some shoppers who had some hesitations about the fan. One of them wrote: 'Moved a good quantity of air but much louder than expected. I returned due to it being too noisy to use as a bedroom fan. It would be good for use in other rooms where noise is not as much of an issue.'
Another shopper said: 'It is average at best. Neat looking but I get a cooler flow from an older fashioned circular fan. A bit disappointing to be honest.'
Keeping in mind all reviews, reports and prices, and the Dreo 28dB Silent Tower Fan may give shoppers the perfect combination of a peaceful nights sleep while also added some cool and comfort during hotter weather.

Amazon launches sale on Cosori air fryers with up to £60 off

The sale includes single and dual air fryers that can also roast, bake, grill, reheat and more Air fryers are one of the most useful kitchen appliances, offering households a quicker and cheaper way to cook meals. Shoppers looking to purchase an air fryer for the first time or are wanting to replace their current one will want to check out Amazon's latest sale. The online retailer is now offering big discounts on a variety of Cosori air fryers, including single and dual appliances. The COSORI Dual Air Fryer TwinFry currently has £50 off, bringing the price down from £249.99 to £199.99. This 10L capacity gadget can cook enough food for up to eight people and boasts a single and double zone, perfect for cooking entire meals in. The 8-in-1 appliance can air fry, roast, bake, reheat, grill and more, and uses four heating elements to 'evenly cook both sides'. The COSORI Dual Air Fryer TwinFry comes with two complimentary baking racks that ensure 'crispy, delicious results every time'. It is labelled an Amazon's Choice product; a highly rated, well-priced item that's available to ship immediately. Over 27,000 Amazon customers have reviewed it to date, awarding it an impressive overall rating of 4.7 out of five. A thrilled buyer wrote: "I was between Ninja and this air fryer; size and counter space made me choose the Cosori. So far, I am delighted with this air fryer. It is definitely the best and most versatile air fryer I ever owned. We are still getting to know all its cooking possibilities and using the booklet as a guide, so far everything has been working out very well." Ninja is currently offering several of its air fryers on sale, including the Double Stack 2-Drawer Air Fryer. Originally priced at £229.99, this appliance can now be purchased for £199.99, however it offers a smaller capacity of 7.6L when compared to the above Cosori air fryer that's the same price. Back to Amazon's sale; the COSORI Air Fryer TurboBlaze has received a £60 discount, reduced from £159.99 to £99.99. This appliance is ideal for smaller households, with its 6L capacity providing enough food for three to six people. It offers nine cooking functions, including air fry, roast, grill, frozen, reheat and bake. The air fryer boasts a five-speed fan that's tailored to each cooking function, while the Advanced Turbo Blaze Technology offers precise heat control. The COSORI Air Fryer TurboBlaze is also an Amazon's Choice product, with over 10,000 shoppers rating it an impressive 4.8 out of five. A delighted customer commented: "Loving the COSORI TurboBlaze. It heats up fast, cooks super evenly, and the taste is amazing - crispy on the outside, juicy and tender on the inside. "I've made fries, chicken wings, salmon, and even roasted veggies, and everything comes out full of flavour without needing much oil. It's a healthier way to enjoy that fried taste. The basket is spacious and easy to clean, and the whole thing runs pretty quietly, too. A great upgrade from my old air fryer." Sadly one buyer was left disappointed, as they explained: "Was impressed before I switched it on. Looks lovely with a clear and simple control panel, but it's way too hot. Just dries out and burns everything. I sent it back."

Nintendo Switch 2 – live restock updates as retailers run low

It's just been a few days since the Nintendo Switch 2 launched, and most places have already sold out. There were restocks here and there throughout the week, but as of last weekend, consoles have been snapped up almost everywhere. Argos, Amazon and Currys to ShopTo, Smyths Toys have all run out of stock, and even Nintendo 's own site has sold out. Your only options right now are EE and O2, but they're only selling to existing mobile customers with an existing contract. But there's a very good chance more drops will land this week. We'll be updating you with all the real-time stock as it arrives. Keep your eyes peeled. Nintendo Switch 2 specs The Switch 2 might look familiar, but there's a lot going on underneath. It's powered by a new custom Nvidia chip, so games don't just load faster, they look better and run more smoothly. You get 12GB of RAM (up from 4GB on the original Switch), and most of that goes straight into powering games, not just background stuff. The screen is still LCD, not OLED, but it's bigger at 7.9in and has 1080p resolution. It supports HDR and a 120Hz refresh rate. Colours pop more, and motion looks buttery-smooth in handheld mode. There's also DLSS upscaling built in, so older games look better. Sadly, while it supports variable refresh rates, it doesn't work when docked – just in handheld mode. Nintendo Switch 2 price The Nintendo Switch 2 on its own costs £399.99, and the main bundle with Mario Kart World costs £429.99. Buying the bundle saves you £40 compared to picking up the game separately, so it's better value if you're planning to grab it anyway. No big discounts yet – it's not even been out a week, after all – but some retailers have larger, more expensive bundles. These include the new Switch 2 camera (£49, the Pro controller (£74.99, and the official carry case and screen protector (£20.99, as well as extra games and accessories. Nintendo Switch 2 launch games There are plenty of new Nintendo Switch 2 games at launch. Mario Kart World is the big one, but you've also got upgraded versions of Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, plus mammoth games like Cyberpunk 2077 Ultimate Edition and Hogwarts Legacy – two games that really test the console's muscle. Other launch day games include Hades 2, Split Fiction, Sonic X Shadow Generations, Street Fighter 6, Survival Kids and Suikoden I & II HD Remaster. You've also got Yakuza 0: Director's Cut, Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess, and Deltarune Chapters 1–4, plus more niche picks like Fantasy Life i and Bravely Default: Flying Fairy HD. Civilization VII and No Man's Sky are here too, and Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour acts as a mini showcase for the new hardware. On top of that, loads of older Nintendo titles have been patched with free performance updates, and Wind Waker, F-Zero GX and Soul Calibur II are now available through the new Switch Online GameCube library. Check Nintendo Switch 2 stock As the Switch 2 stock really starts to sell out, I thought it'd be helpful to put together an extensive list of the retailers to check over the weekend. If you choose to buy from EE, bear in mind my previous post about the delivery times. Argos Game Amazon EE ShopTo Very HMV JD Williams The Game Collection Currys Asda Smyths Toys My Nintendo Store John Lewis AO Kaleidoscope Alex Lee6 June 2025 22:18 An update on EE Nintendo Switch 2 stock Jamie, one of our readers, has just got in touch with me on Instagram. After ordering a Nintendo Switch 2 from EE on launch day, he decided to call up and ask about delivery times. According to the rep he spoke to, delivery could take up to 14 days. That's a lot longer than the '1–3 working days' estimate currently quoted on EE's website. If you're planning to order through EE, just be aware that your console might take a little longer to arrive than expected. I've asked EE for clarification and will update this post when I hear back. Buy now at EE Alex Lee6 June 2025 21:11 Here's where you can buy a Switch 2 right now And the last of the Nintendo Switch 2 consoles at Nintendo and Very have gone. Your only chance to get one now is at two mobile carriers – EE will come the quickest and O2 will take ages to arrive. More stock may drop soon, so keep your eyes peeled. Buy now at E Buy now at O2 Alex Lee6 June 2025 17:32 Here's our Nintendo Switch 2 review So, I've officially had 48 hours with the Nintendo Switch 2, and it's a definite step-up over the Nintendo Switch OLED. My colleague Jake Brigstock and I have been putting it through its paces. Here's our initial review – yes, you're getting two takes for the price of one. Nintendo Switch 2 review: What we like (and dislike) about the console After almost a decade's wait, the Nintendo Switch 2 is here Alex Lee6 June 2025 17:01 Here's where you can buy a Switch 2 right now You can still buy the Nintendo Switch 2 from a few places in the UK, but each option comes with a caveat. The My Nintendo Store has the console in stock now, though you'll need an active Switch Online membership to place an order. Delivery is fairly quick though, with consoles arriving in two to three days. Very also has a bundle available to buy, but delivery is on the slower side. Orders aren't expected to arrive until Friday, 13 June. EE has stock as well, but it's only available to pay-monthly customers and delivery takes between 1-3 working days. O2 is also selling the Switch 2 to existing customers, but shipping is particularly slow – some orders could take more than four weeks to arrive. Alex Lee6 June 2025 15:28 Nintendo just dropped stock I predicted it earlier and it's come to pass. Nintendo's just dropped some stock. You have to have a My Nintendo account to buy a console, but the stock is there. There's a standalone Nintendo Switch console and a Mario Kart World bundle. Alex Lee6 June 2025 12:59 Smyths Toys taking orders Smyths Toys sold out around midday yesterday, but they're taking orders once again. It won't be a fast delivery; the retailer says it expects stock between 10-16 June, and delivering your Switch 2 could take up to three working days after that. However, if you missed out on the console yesterday, this is a good bet. Buy now at Smyths Toys Alex Lee6 June 2025 11:57 Nintendo Switch 2 stock at O2 Huge thank you to reader Mark Brooker, who got in touch about some Nintendo Switch 2 stock at O2. It's unlike any of the stock we've seen so far. It's a Mario Kart World bundle and only for O2 customers. You have two options. You can either pay in full for £449.99 or spread the cost. If you spread the cost, it costs £110 up front, but you can pay as little as £9.44 a month at 0% APR. The catch? Delivery could take more than 4 weeks. Buy now at O2 Alex Lee6 June 2025 11:40 Stock just dropped at Very It's been quiet since 6am this morning, but Very just dropped stock. You can get a Nintendo Switch 2, Mario Kart World, and a Switch 2 Camera for £479. It will arrive on Friday 13 June. Buy now at Very Alex Lee6 June 2025 11:04 More detail on EE stock Right now, EE is the only place in the country you can buy a Switch 2. You have a few options: The first is the basic Mario Kart World bundle. You get a Nintendo Switch 2 console and, unsurprisingly, Mario Kart World. You also get a 12 month Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack membership, so you can play online. This also gives you access to 170 old-school games from the NES, SNES, GameCube, Nintendo 64, Game Boy Advance and Sega Genesis. It costs £22 a month for £24 months, and you have to pay £20 upfront today. Buy now at EE The other option is more expensive, but you get a lot more. As well as the Nintendo Switch 2 console Mario Kart World, and Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack membership, you get some hardware. You also get a Nintendo Switch camera for online gaming. BaByliss hair straightener that works 'just as well as ghd' drops from £90 to £30

'My wife was absolutely delighted with the BaByliss Rose Gold Styler—a true game changer in her daily beauty routine.' One applicance that everyone should have in their home is a quality set of hair straighteners. This versatile hair tool can both straighten and curl your hair, letting you have complete control of how you will look that day. However, one of the problems with hair straighteners is products from high quality brands usually come with a pretty hefty price tag. And while you want to buy a set that will last you a good few years, it can be difficult to part with your hard earned money. Thankfully, in a limited time deal, Amazon has slashed the price of well known branded hair straightener, saving shoppers £60. Originally priced at £90, shoppers can now snatch up the BaByliss Rose Gold Hair Straighteners for only £29.99. Bought by over 1,000 shoppers in the last 30 days, these BaByliss hair straighteners are said to deliver users effortless styling. With floating ceramic plates, the device will glide smoothly through your hair to get rid of any kinks without snagging, leaving users with silky, straight hair "every time". Featuring three temperature settings, ranging from 180 to 235 degrees, shoppers will have more control over the amount of heat they are putting onto their hair. Additionally, for those in a rush, this hair straightener is said to be ready to use in just 15 seconds due to its advanced ceramic heating system. Along with a heat-proof mat for added safety, this device will also automatically turn off after an hour to give users added peace of mind. And for those who want sleek, smooth hair anywhere, this device will become your perfect travel companion as it is equipped with a built-in multi-voltage functionality. Another set of straighteners that have been reduced by Amazon are the ghd Gold Hair Straightener & Styler. Normally retailing for £189, shoppers can now snatch the styler for £150.30 in a limited time deal. This styler promises to give users a 'salon smooth finish' as it uses dual-zone technology for a premium performance. Alternatively, Argos is selling the Remington Sapphire Luxe Hair Straightener for £35. Along with a three year warranty, these hair straighteners are said to make your hair two times smoother than standard stylers. As well as a ultra-fast 15 second heat up time, this device comes with five temperatures to choose from. Back to the BaByliss hair straightener, Amazon shoppers have awarded the device a 4.6 star rating. With many shoppers praising its sleek design, one shopper noted that they became a 'game changer' for their wife's beauty routine. One happy shopper said: "BaByliss products never disappointed me. Great hair straightener, does exactly what it supposed to do despite me being too lazy of sectioning in small portions the hair, I do divide my hair in two parts literally (right half and left half). "The hair straightener gets hot quickly, has a long cable which gives you enough mobility, only minus I personally do not love the rose pink colour." Another reviewer added: "My wife was absolutely delighted with the BaByliss Rose Gold Styler—a true game changer in her daily beauty routine. From the moment she unboxed it, she was captivated by its sleek, rose gold design. "The elegant finish not only adds a luxurious touch to her vanity but also makes a striking visual statement. Holding it, she immediately noticed its premium quality and the way it felt balanced and substantial, yet surprisingly lightweight in her hand." However, not everyone was overly impressed by the hair tool, as one shopper noted: "Works fine but quite a basic model. The cord attached to the straightener doesn't swivel so gets caught up quite easily. I'd recommend a more expensive one that has more features." With another three-star reviewer adding: "This straightener works well and has a usefully long lead. The location of the control between the arms is a real pain. Much better on the side." Despite this, a happy shopper added: "Bought these for my partner after her last set finally died after 10 years of use. She has used them everyday since and has loved them, very sleek and easy to store, take very little tome to heat up and leaves her extremely thick curly hair looking extremely straight. She says she would definitely buy these over more expensive brands." While five-star reviewer went on to say: "Bought these to replace a set of GHD straighteners and to be honest they work just as well. Only downside is that the pink heat mat/cover is just a little bit small. However, that's forgivable because the product is good." To buy the BaByliss Rose Gold Hair Straighteners, click HERE.
