RIYADH: The Jazan Mountainous Areas Development and Reconstruction Authority is currently showcasing its expertise in cultivating blue tea.
The showcase is a part of the authority's participation in Environment Week 2025, organized by the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture, with government, private, and nonprofit organizations.
The authority's pavilion has been visited by a number of people intrigued by blue tea's nutritional benefits, unique flavor and vibrant color.
The cultivation project is a part of the authority's strategic initiatives to promote sustainable agriculture in the mountainous area of Jazan.
The project plays a key role in supporting the local economy and expanding income sources within the agricultural sector.

Saudia Cargo participates in Saudi-Chinese Business Forum
Saudia Cargo, a subsidiary of the Saudia Group, participated in the Saudi-Chinese Business Forum 2025 as the official logistics provider. The forum was held in Beijing from May 13-14. This participation aligns with the company's continued expansion in the Chinese market and its commitment to supporting the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030. The forum, held under the patronage of Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture Abdulrahman Abdulmohsen Al-Fadhli, aimed to strengthen economic cooperation between the Kingdom and China, increase Saudi exports to the Chinese market, and explore investment opportunities in infrastructure projects. Hashim Alsharif, vice president of strategy and business development at Saudia Cargo, underscored the company's pivotal role in facilitating national exports and bridging Saudi producers with global consumers in alignment with the Kingdom's Vision 2030. He also highlighted the provision of integrated and effective logistics solutions, bolstering trade between Saudi Arabia and China. He described the forum as 'a crucial platform for unlocking new avenues of trade expansion.' Alsharif said that Saudia Cargo was invited by the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture as an official sponsor of the forum. The company was allocated an independent pavilion within the National Livestock and Fisheries Development Program, where it showcased a range of its logistics services, primarily cold chain solutions and e-commerce solutions designed to serve the agriculture and seafood sectors. Last April, the company announced the signing of two MoUs to build strategic partnerships with major Chinese companies and open new channels for trade cooperation in the fields of transportation and logistics. The first MoU was with China Cargo Airlines to improve export operations and develop operational connectivity to capitalize on the growing trade movement between the two countries. The second MoU was with China Henan Aviation Group to develop and invest in aviation, creating an air logistics bridge connecting Asia-Pacific with the Middle East, Europe, and Africa through the Zhengzhou and Riyadh hubs.

Saudi Arabia and China sign 57 deals worth over SR14 billion during visit of Minister Alfadley
Saudi Gazette report BEIJING — The Saudi-Chinese Business Forum wrapped up in Beijing on Wednesday with clinching 57 agreements and memoranda of understanding (MoUs) valued at over SR14 billion between Saudi and Chinese entities. The forum was attended by Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture Abdulrahman Alfadley, with broad participation of officials and investors in the agricultural and food sectors from both countries. Speaking on the occasion, Alfadley noted that trade exchange between Saudi Arabia and China has exceeded $107 billion, underscoring strength and strategic importance of their bilateral economic ties. He highlighted that China is one of the Kingdom's most significant trading partners, representing 18 percent of its foreign trade. The signed agreements encompassed a range of projects across the environment, water, agriculture, fisheries, and livestock sectors. Key initiatives include knowledge exchange on water recycling, development of human capacity-building programs, establishment of seaweed cultivation stations, and production of biofuels and biofertilizers. They also included plans to develop a smart city dedicated to food security in the Kingdom, featuring factories, laboratories, and integrated logistics services. Additionally, they outlined joint efforts to establish a comprehensive industrial city in the Jazan region focused on primary and transformative industries, aimed at strengthening supply chains and creating new opportunities for agriculture-related industrial investment. During the Chinese visit, Minister Alfadley held discussions with Chinese Minister of Ecology and Environment Huang Runqiu. During the meeting, the ministers explored avenues for bilateral cooperation in environmental protection, pollution reduction, ecosystem restoration, and the exchange of expertise in sustainable environmental management. Alfadley's three-day official visit to Beijing, which concluded on Wednesday, aimed to strengthen environmental relations between the Kingdom and China and explore opportunities for cooperation in environmental sustainability.

Alfadley announces ministry's full readiness to ensure environmentally safe Hajj
Saudi Gazette report MAKKAH — Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture Abdulrahman Alfadley announced on Wednesday the complete readiness and high level of coordination among all sectors within the ministry in preparation for the Hajj season of 2025. The ministry's ongoing efforts aimed to ensure environmentally safe Hajj with provision of the best environmental, water, agricultural, and health services to Hajj pilgrims, in line with Saudi Vision 2030. Alfadley made these remarks during his inspection tour of the holy sites and chairing a meeting at the headquarters of the National Water Company. He reviewed the completion of the operational plans in accordance with the highest efficiency standards. As part of the comprehensive national efforts to make the Hajj season a success, the operational system includes quality projects and programs to ensure the availability of water supplies, food safety, air quality, waste handling, environmental compliance monitoring, and pest control. The minister checked the preparations of the ministry's branches in Makkah and Madinah to supervise and control private slaughterhouses and public benefit markets. He reviewed efforts of emergency rooms and the situation of logistical services provided by professionals at the two branches. Alfadley listened to details of the environmental system's plans to enhance food security during the Hajj season. The General Food Security Authority (GFSA) confirmed the abundance of flour stocks in Makkah and Madinah, in addition to the existence of reserve stocks of wheat throughout the Kingdom, amounting to more than one million tons. Water supply for pilgrims was high on the agenda during the meeting. The minister inspected the readiness of projects and operational plans for water services for all sectors, including production, transportation, storage, distribution, and irrigation. Such integrated efforts aim at securing water supply for pilgrims and improving the quality of services provided to them. Alfadley emphasized intensifying efforts and harnessing all resources to implement the directives of the Kingdom's leadership to provide the best services to the pilgrims so as to enable them to perform Hajj rituals in ease and comfort.
