Bachelorette star Katie Thurston gets emotional as she details devastating breast cancer symptoms

Daily Mail2 days ago

Bachelorette star Katie Thurston has shared a heartbreaking update about her Stage 4 breast cancer diagnosis.
She posted an Instagram Reel detailing her daily struggles living with the gruesome disease.
The 34-year-old had no family history of cancer when she was diagnosed on February 13 after discovering a painful lump in her breast.
In her latest video, she got emotional as she spoke about the devastating symptoms she has endured, which included memory and hair loss.
'I wanted to do weekly check-ins that are just like uncut, raw emotions of like whatever comes to my mind,' she detailed in the Reel on June 1 - National Cancer Survivors Day.
In March, just one week after her wedding to comedian Jeff Arcuri, 36, Katie revealed that the cancer had spread to her liver, taking her from Stage 3 to Stage 4.
During her new Reel, the former Bachelorette revealed she had just finished her second month of treatment.
'If you're asking how long treatment is, technically forever. I am optimistic about medical advancements in the future. Fingers crossed as a Stage 4 girly,' she shared.
Katie, who wore a pink New York Yankees hat during the video, added: 'My hair is coming out in an unnatural amount of clumps. Working on that.'
She also said her treatments have been causing her to 'lose her memory.'
Katie detailed that she was going through customs after a recent vacation with her husband and struggled to remember where they had visited.
'[They asked], "Where are you coming from?" And I looked at them and I was like, "I don't remember. I don't remember,"' she recalled with tears in her eyes.
'Jeff and I got in a, not an argument, but you know, a little disagreement. I was like, "This has happened before," and he's like, '"When?" I was like, "I don't know, but I know it has."'
She added: 'We're able to laugh about it now. But yeah cancer is s**t.'
'Sometimes I'm like, "Stop feeling bad for yourself," but then other times I'm like, "No, you're allowed to feel bad for yourself. Cancer f**king sucks,'' she said.
'Right now I'm at the process of my treatment where I have to make big decisions on how to treat my liver.'
Katie revealed that she had decided on histotripsy to treat her liver, which uses ultrasound waves to treat tumors.
She added: 'Every day I'm alive, I'm a survivor. So go me, I guess.'
The Bachelorette also shared that the treatment that was supposed to put her into medically-induced menopause didn't work.
'Got my period, that's not supposed to happen,' she explained.
She explained that she is switching medication, but if that doesn't work, 'I might have to get my ovaries taken out. Not ideal.'
Katie concluded: 'The vacation was nice. Now I'm back at it, again, in New York City, trying to live my best life as a f**king cancer patient.'
'Sorry - I'm not gonna edit that out,' she said about swearing, which she bleeped out, 'I want this just to be my truth.'
Katie was a bank marketing manager when she first competed for the heart of Bachelor #25 Matt James in 2021.
She scored her Bachelorette spin-off where she romanced fiancé Blake Moynes for six months and John Hersey for seven months.

Jury deliberations near in Weinstein sex crimes retrial

Jurors in Harvey Weinstein 's sex crimes retrial are due to start deliberating Thursday, with dozens of witnesses, scores of documents and two days of closing arguments to sift through. The seven-woman, five-man jury will start its private discussions after getting legal instructions from the judge Thursday morning. Closing arguments concluded Wednesday, with prosecutor Nicole Blumberg saying the former movie studio boss 'held the golden ticket' to show-business success and used it to sexually assault women who were afraid to cross him. Weinstein, 73, has pleaded not guilty to raping a woman in 2013 and forcing oral sex on two others in 2006. Defense lawyer Arthur Aidala told jurors Tuesday that Weinstein had entirely consensual encounters with the women, arguing that they were 'using him' to advance their fledgling careers in entertainment. Over the last seven years, the case has been seen as something of a crucible for the #MeToo movement. The anti-sexual-misconduct outcry took flight after allegations against Weinstein became public in 2017. He was later convicted of sex crimes in New York and California. The New York conviction was overturned last year, and the case was sent back for retrial. The new trial was expanded to include an accuser who wasn't part of the first trial. One of the criminal sex act charges is based on her allegations. Weinstein chose not to testify.

Leah Remini addresses 'rift' with Jennifer Lopez and reveals where their friendship stands today

Leah Remini denied there was ever a 'rift' with her former BFF Jennifer Lopez, which was rumored to have stemmed from her skipping her 2022 Georgia nuptials to now fourth ex-husband Ben Affleck. 'Sometimes you don't talk to people every day like you used to, but that doesn't mean the love is lost,' the 54-year-old King of Queens alum clarified to Us Weekly on Wednesday. 'Friendships ebb and flow. That doesn't mean we're at odds.' Last September, Leah and the 55-year-old pop diva got back in touch with each other following the legal separations from their respective spouses. 'We'd text each other loving messages of support,' Remini revealed. Jennifer and the 52-year-old Oscar winner's divorce was finalized on February 20 after two years of marriage. And the two-time Emmy winner finalized her divorce from husband Angelo Pagán on October 11 after 28 years together and 21 years of marriage. 'I cherish my friendships and not everybody is meant to be in your life in the way that they were,' Leah explained. 'When you grow out of that person that you were, that doesn't mean that you are at odds with them. I have many friends that I don't talk to every day. That doesn't mean we're at odds — it's just that I'm at a different place and so are they.' Remini and Lopez haven't been pictured together since June 2021, but their friendship dates as far back as 2004. The Flight Risk actress frequently credited her A-list alliance with the American Music Awards host for giving her the strength to leave the 'abusive' Church of Scientology in 2013 after 34 years. Leah and Jennifer portrayed 'Value Shop' supermarket co-workers Joan and Maya in Peter Segal's dismally-reviewed 2017 rom-com Second Act, which earned $72.3M at the box office. And in 2018, Remini let fans in on the surprising dynamic of their bond when she crashed Lopez's Access Hollywood interview to bust her balls about how and when she picks up the check. 'In a group, when it's like 100 people you do [pay],' the Brooklyn-born, LA-raised funnywoman accused. 'But when it's me and you? Bulls***, Jennifer! She never has her credit card on her, conveniently.' Annoyed, the two-time Grammy nominee replied: 'So she picks up the cheap checks and I pick up the expensive checks. Who picks up the tab then?! This is my interview!' Remini talks to her current BFF Michelle Visage 'on FaceTime for an hour every morning' and she's on a funny 'text chain' with Holly Robinson and Tisha Campbell. The current NYU student also gushed over how her comedian gal pal Chelsea Handler 'will go out of her way to visit' her daughter Sofia Bella Pagán in New York after knowing her since she 'was in diapers.' On June 16, Leah and her 57-year-old estranged husband will celebrate the 21st birthday of Sofia.
