Oklahoma and Texas A&M named SEC softball co-champions after conference title game canceled due to weather
SEC softball will have not one, but two teams holding the conference title. The conference announced Saturday that Oklahoma and Texas A&M have been named co-champions of the 2025 SEC softball tournament after canceling the title game due to weather.
"Due to inclement weather now and predicated for the rest of the day, today's championship game will not be played. Both Oklahoma and Texas A&M are declared co-champions for the 2025 SEC Softball Tournament," the conference wrote in a statement. "Congratulations to the Sooners and the Aggies, and best of luck to both teams in the postseason!"

The tournament was held at the University of Georgia in Athens, where it has been raining throughout the day. After one weather delay earlier on Saturday, the conference opted to give up on the game altogether.
Top-seeded Oklahoma made the championship game after an 8-6 comeback win against No. 5 Arkansas on Friday, while No. 2 Texas A&M mercy-ruled No. 3 Texas with a dominant 14-2 win in the semifinals.
Despite the weather, and the unexpected title-sharing, both teams seemed to take things in stride.

Texas A&M and Oklahoma are the No. 1 and No. 2 teams in the country, respectively. Saturday's game would have been the first meeting between the high-powered SEC rivals this season.
Though the automatic NCAA tournament bid as a result of the championship might be slightly complicated, both teams are expected to advance to make deep postseason runs.
