'Massive path of destruction': Intoxicated teenager speeding through downtown Fond du Lac crashes into 8 total vehicles

FOND DU LAC, Wis. (WFRV) – An alleged intoxicated teenager from Green Bay caused a scene of chaos while speeding through downtown Fond du Lac at more than 50mph over the posted speed limit, ending in a multi-vehicle crash and her arrest. Deputies with the Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Office say the incident began around 6:35 p.m. on Friday, May 30, when a deputy saw a vehicle going 50mph in a posted 25mph zone on South Main Street near East 10th Street in Fond du Lac. Fond du Lac County deputies find half-pound of meth hidden in vehicle during traffic stop The vehicle, which was later identified as being driven by a 19-year-old woman from Green Bay, was reportedly accelerating to around 80mph at that time. The deputy tried to pull her over, but terminated a pursuit after she continued to accelerate. The suspect vehicle continued at a high rate of speed through downtown, crashing into one SUV near Division Street before colliding with seven other vehicles near Merrill Avenue. After the speeding vehicle came to a stop and started on fire, the 19-year-old got out and surrendered to deputies. It was noted that one other vehicle caught fire, and several people were injured. First responders began to assess the scene that spanned an entire downtown block and treat the three people and the suspect for injuries. Neenah Foundry fire still under investigation for cause, additional details provided on response efforts The 19-year-old suspect, who reportedly has a lengthy criminal history, was taken to a local hospital for treatment and will eventually be taken to the Fond du Lac County Jail on several charges, including OWI and operating while revoked due to alcohol. Deputies allegedly found marijuana in her vehicle during a search. It was noted that the teenager was out on two signature bonds out of Brown County for charges of possession with intent to deliver fentanyl, OWI (2nd), and felony bail jumping. She was also out on a $250 cash bond out of Fond du Lac County for two counts of felony bail jumping. Lastly, she was out on felony probation for fleeing and eluding as well as two counts of bail jumping from Ozaukee County. This young suspect, who already has a lengthy criminal history, left a massive path of destruction in downtown Fond du Lac on a Friday evening. She terrorized dozens of our citizens and visitors who were downtown to enjoy the start to the weekend. We're thankful no one was killed, and wish a speedy recovery to those who were injured. This is the second serious and reckless high-speed crash along this stretch of Main Street already this year, and in this case a deputy was placed in a no-win situation – pursue and attempt to apprehend a reckless suspect who was likely to cause a crash, or terminate pursuit hoping the suspect would stop the reckless driving but knowing they would likely crash before doing so. We appreciate the prompt and coordinated response with our communications center, law enforcement, and fire/rescue partners who worked together to mitigate what could have been a very tragic situation tonight. Police warn illicit drugs are labeled with emojis on social media. Here's a breakdown of those drug emojis

Law enforcement officials warn that social media sites are increasingly being used as storefronts for illicit drug sales, and emojis — those cute tiny symbols and characters — are being used as codes names for drugs that are available for purchase. An investigation into a case in Lompoc prompted authorities to break down the meaning of the emojis to help the public decode the illicit transactions. The drug case involved several students from Cabrillo High School in Lompoc, in the northeastern Santa Barbara County, who fell ill after ingesting edible cannabis products in February, according to the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office, which issued a warning about online drug sales this week. The sheriff's office did not specify how many students were involved in the incident or what kind of cannabis products the students ate. Detectives from the sheriff's Cannabis Compliance Team and the school's resource deputy launched an investigation into the incident and determined that a 15-year-old student was provided edible cannabis products by an adult, Flor Yudith Zamora, 21, of Lompoc. The 15-year-old brought the cannabis products to the high school where the teen shared it with other students. Upon further investigation, detectives found that Zamora was using an Instagram account called ' to sell cannabis products, psilocybin (also known as 'shrooms'), nicotine products, codeine (an opiate) and alcohol to underaged children, according to authorities. In payments transactions and messages about the products, detectives found that emojis were used to identify the drugs that were being sold. The emojis were used in the discussions about payments sent to Zamora using Zelle and Cash App, services that allow peer-to-peer payments. In 2021, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration had investigated more than 80 cases involving drug trafficking on internet apps, including Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, TikTok, X and YouTube. Available drugs were advertised on these apps in stories that disappeared within 24 hours and in posts that were removed after a certain amount of time, according to the federal agency. In a published report, the agency found that once contact was made by commenting on a post or directly messaging the social media account, the conversation was then moved to encrypted messaging apps such as WhatsApp, Signal and Telegram. Once a deal was made, drug sellers requested payment using peer-to-peer transaction services such as Venmo, Zelle, Cash App and Remitly. Officials from the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office are asking parents to review their children's social media accounts for suspicious activity or unfamiliar contacts. 'Talk to them about the dangers of illegal drug activity and the risks of engaging with unknown individuals online,' the sheriff's office said in a statement. Anyone with information that could be helpful in this case is encouraged to contact the sheriff's Cannabis Compliance Team at (805) 681-4150 or by email at cannabistips@ Anonymous tips can be made by calling the office's tip line at (805) 681-4171 or online at

Evers raises Pride flag over Wisconsin State Capitol

The Progress Pride Flag flies over the Wisconsin Capitol. (Henry Redman | Wisconsin Examiner) For the seventh time, Gov. Tony Evers ordered the Progress Pride Flag to fly over the Wisconsin State Capitol for LGBTQ Pride Month. This year, Pride Month begins on the 10th anniversary of the U.S. Supreme Court's decision in Obergefell v. Hodges, which gave same-sex couples the right to get married in 2015. But Evers' celebration of LGBTQ pride is occuring as the administration of President Donald Trump attacks the rights of transgender people and a recent Gallup poll found that Republican acceptance of same-sex marriage has fallen to its lowest level in nine years. 'When the Pride Flag flies above the People's House, it sends a clear and unequivocal message that Wisconsin recognizes and celebrates LGBTQ Wisconsinites and Americans,' Evers said in a statement. 'Every day, but especially today and this month, we reaffirm our commitment to striving to be a place where every LGBTQ kid, person, and family can be bold in their truth and be safe, treated with dignity and respect, and welcomed without fear of persecution, judgment, or discrimination. I promised long ago that, as governor, I would always fight to protect LGBTQ Wisconsinites with every tool and every power that I have. I will never stop keeping that promise.' In the executive order Evers signed Friday, he notes that the LGBTQ has been under attack in recent years, including in Wisconsin where Republicans have tried more than once to pass legislation attacking transgender children. 'Despite historic victories, in the last several years, there has been a significant increase in anti-LGBTQ legislation introduced in state Legislatures across the country, including in Wisconsin, that have targeted LGBTQ kids and people and increased dangerous anti-LGBTQ rhetoric, as well as efforts on a state and national level to erase LGBTQ history and stories.' The Progress Pride Flag flying above the Capitol includes the recognizable LGBTQ rainbow colors and a chevron of additional stripes that represent LGBTQ people of color, the transgender community and people with HIV/AIDS.
