Desert X 2025
Desert X
Transforming the rugged landscape of the Coachella Valley into a mesmerizing outdoor art exhibition, Desert X 2025 is a must-see event on display until May 11, 2025. Using the desert's stark beauty as a backdrop, visionary artists from around the world explore themes of 'indigenous futurism, design activism, and colonial power asymmetries.' Immerse yourself in experiential pieces, giant sculptures, and mind-bending installations, learning the fascinating stories behind each of the artworks. To enjoy all of the installations and the desert setting, it's best to make a trip out of it—here's what to see and where to stay during your time there.

Now in its fifth year, Desert X is uniquely accessible and inviting for art aficionados and curious travelers alike. All you need is a car, your cell phone to map exactly where each artwork is, and time to explore. Since the majority of installations are relatively remote, the Desert X website provides exact coordinates to help navigate to each artwork.
If you're arriving in the Coachella Valley at sunset, head to Sanford Biggers's piece 'Unsui (Mirror),' where his two giant sequin cloud sculptures glimmer against the cotton-candy sky as the sun sets. Clouds are a recurring theme in Biggers' work, symbolizing unencumbered movement and transcendence. Sarah Meyohas's immersive installation 'Truth Arrives in Slanted Beams' utilizes the sun and light-shaping technology to let visitors project words and images as reflections. Kapwani Kiwanga's 'Plotting Rest' is a pavilion-like sculptural structure inspired by the quilting motif known as 'flying geese,' which served as guidance for those escaping slavery during the era of the Underground Railroad. Quilts that hung from windows and clotheslines served as coded messages to mitigate danger and find a path to safety. Agnes Denes's 'The Living Pyramid' is 'both a monumental sculpture and an environmental intervention.' The structure explores Denes' lifelong exploration of pyramids merged with nature's impermanence, using native plants that grow and decay over time.

Ideally, you'll want to spread out your Desert X art exploration over a few days to give yourself a leisurely amount of time to drive and absorb the visuals and messaging of each artwork. Located in the heart of Palm Springs, Korakia Pensione is a picturesque property to match your aesthetically enticing trip. What was once the spacious villa of Scottish painter Gordon Coutts is now an adults-only resort with Mediterranean and Moroccan influences. There are 28 uniquely designed bungalows filled with trinkets and décor to give each its own distinct character. Start your day sitting at one of the outdoor tables in their blooming and beautiful courtyard, enjoying breakfast dishes like huevos rancheros or yogurt parfaits with fruit, before you drive to see your first artwork of the day. Once it gets very hot around midday, return to Korakia to lounge by one of their two pools, cooling off with a margarita in hand. For larger groups and families, the newly opened Auric House features six bedrooms and bathrooms and a private pool. A haven for creatives since it first opened, Korakia is a colorful and eclectic oasis to match your art-filled Desert X experience.

Desert X is more than just an art exhibition; it's an intersection between creativity, humanity and the beauty of nature. Don't miss your chance to see extraordinary art works set against the harsh, hypnotic beauty of the desert — you'll have to wait until 2027 to see the iteration of this one-of-a-kind art experience.

Prince William Is Aiming for a "Diana Reboot of the Monarchy" When He Becomes King, Per Royal Author

When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. When Prince William ascends the throne one day, insiders say he won't just be continuing the legacy of his father, King Charles, or his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth—he'll be reshaping the monarchy with his own bold vision. Focusing on less talk and more action, the Prince of Wales intends to prioritize projects and events that drive actual change versus cutting ribbons. According to royal author Edward White, it's a blend of Princess Diana and the late Queen in terms of philosophy. White, who wrote Dianaworld: An Obsession, recently told the Mirror that the late princess was keen to bring Prince William up in a way that would help keep the Royal Family relevant. But in doing so, the Prince of Wales developed his own strategy that also pays tribute to his late mother. "Diana said that she was trying to raise a future king that would ensure the monarchy survived into the 21st century—and William is trying to do a Diana reboot of the monarchy, combining the best of his mother and his grandmother," he told the media outlet. View Deal Like his mother, Prince William is passionate about the issue of homelessness, and last year, released the ITV documentary Prince William: We Can End Homelessness. In the program, he talked about his mother brought him to shelters, revealing that as an adult, he struggles with "not doing more." "I've spent enough time learning and listening to what people have been through that I feel almost guilty every time I leave," he admitted. As King, William seems determined to change the narrative around shaking hands and making appearances versus being able to help in a more concrete way—much like Diana did. "She seemed to think that if she wasn't taking the most extreme course of action to remedy a problem, then she wasn't actually taking any action at all," White told the Mirror. As for Prince William, "I've often heard him say, 'There's been too much talk about that. We need to see some action,'" said William Hague, who works with the Prince of Wales on the Royal Foundation's United for Wildlife initiative (via the Times). Princess Diana was open about her thoughts and feelings in a way the public hadn't seen before with royalty, and while speaking to journalists in South Africa during his 2024 Earthshot Prize trip, William said he wants to make the monarchy feel more relatable to the younger generation. "I can only describe what I'm trying to do and that's trying to do it differently and I'm trying to do it for my generation," he said. "I'm doing it with maybe a smaller r in the royal, if you like, that's maybe a better way of saying it."

"Strictly Come Dancing" 2025 Cast: The Rumoured Line-Up

We get it, we're barely at the end of spring, so it might feel a little strange to already be looking ahead to Strictly Come Dancing, which so many of us associate with cosy winter nights in and the lead-up to Christmas. However, it's worth remembering that Strictly runs for months at a time – meaning we're actually not as far off this year's line-up announcement as you might think. In fact, rumours about which celebrities will be competing in the Strictly ballroom this year have already been ~swirling~ around, with everyone from the world of TV, music and even a few members of the aristocracy tipped to be taking part. Here's a quick guide to all the rumoured stars so far… Stacey Solomon After initially shooting to fame on the sixth season of The X Factor, Stacey Solomon won over a legion of new fans when she competed on I'm A Celebrity in 2010, going on to be crowned its champion. These days, she's best known as a TV presenter and online influencer, especially with regard to family life, crafting and, indeed, tidying up. In April, The Sun claimed that the former Loose Women panellist had already been approached by Strictly bosses, having previously shared her love of the show. Tom Parker Bowles Yes, you read that correctly. Tom Parker Bowles, son of Camilla, the Queen, is reportedly in the running to sign up for Strictly. The foodie and cookbook writer is the son of Camilla – apparently a Strictly fanatic – and her first husband Andrew Parker Bowles. Already a regular on MasterChef, The Mirror claimed in May that Tom may be expanding his reality TV repertoire. Tom was apparently approached last year about a Strictly spot, only for this not to come to fruition, so producers now have him at the 'top of their wishlist', the tabloid's 'Strictly source' claimed. Georgia Toffolo In that same Mirror piece, it was reported that former Made In Chelsea cast member and I'm A Celebrity winner Georgia Toffolo could be making a reality TV comeback. Citing their 'insiders', the outlet claimed that Georgia was already 'in talks' about a spot on this year's line-up. Craig Rowe Known for his appearances on shows like This Morning and A Place In The Sun, Craig Rowe hinted earlier this year that Strictly could be on the horizon for him. 'We've spoken to Strictly and nothing's happened yet, but talks are very much happening,' he told The Sun. Craig added: 'I'd like nothing better than the training as well to put me through my paces.' Hmmm... we're pretty sure those talks are supposed to be private, Craig... so maybe don't go splashing out on dancing shoes just yet... Ashley Cain Originally known for playing football for clubs like Coventry City, Ashley Cain later embarked on a second career as a reality star with appearances on shows like Ex On The Beach and MTV's The Challenge. Following the death of his eight-month-old daughter Azaylia in 2021, Ashley has become a charity campaigner and advocate for children's cancer research, and earlier this year began presenting the BBC documentary Into The Danger Zone, which explored different issues affecting young men in different countries around the world. According to The Mirror, it's this work that's caught the eye of Strictly bosses, citing 'insiders' who say he's already on producers' longlist of potential contestants, which will be whittled down from 'around 30 names' to just 15 as the new series gets closer. Thomas Skinner Thomas Skinner first rose to prominence on the 15th season of The Apprentice in 2019. While he may not have impressed Alan Sugar, eventually becoming the ninth candidate to be fired, he did get a rare 'keep in touch' from the entrepreneur on his way out the door – and he's rumoured to be returning for the show's upcoming celebrity special. On top of this, Thomas – who regularly makes appearances in debates for shows like Good Morning Britain, having also competed on Celebrity MasterChef – was reported by The Sun in March to have already signed up for Strictly this year. Angellica Bell via Associated Press Towards the end of last year, the Daily Mail reported that Strictly fans were speculating that children's TV legend Angellica Bell would be competing on the show in 2025, after apparently piecing together certain bits of evidence on social media. It's worth pointing out, though, that this was before she was announced to be on ITV's second season of Celebrity Big Brother earlier in the spring – so this is one rumour we definitely wouldn't get too excited about.
