Imran Khan's ex-wife Avantika Malik reflects on struggles to save their marriage: ‘I would have found it very difficult to walk away…'
Imran Khan and Avantika Malik, who began dating at the age of 19 in 2002, got married in 2011. In 2014, the couple welcomed their first child, a daughter, Imara Malik Khan. However, just eight years after their marriage, the couple decided to part ways. Recently, Avantika opened up about her struggles with separation and the phase when she was unsure of how she felt about any of it.
Speaking to Nayandeep Rakshit, Avantika said for the longest time, she couldn't believe that separation from Imran was her reality. She shared, 'I would have found it very difficult to walk away and to say this is it. It is mostly because of the kind of human being I am. I am extremely emotional. Another reason is that because my parents marriage didn't work, I thought I always had this pressure to make mine work. I was too adamant that what was my reality as a child cannot be my reality as an adult. That fear was too deep to walk away.'

Eventually, when she had to move out of the house with her daughter Imara, it was extremely difficult for Avantika. She recalled, 'It was very hard. It was the worst thing I had to go through. You just don't know anything anymore. I am very blessed that I had so many people on my corner. My friends, family and my extended family held me together until I could hold myself.'
Previously, talking about his separation, Imran Khan told Filmfare, 'I entered this relationship when I was very young. I was 19, and in all good faith and good intention. But as is sometimes the case with these kinds of long-term relationships, particularly when you start at a very young age, a lot of the interpersonal dynamics and patterns get set in how you were as a teenager and as you grow, perhaps, I think all of those did not grow and evolve enough and in some way, we were not supporting or empowering each other to be the healthiest version of ourselves.'

THUG OF WAR: Kamal Haasan's Thug Life faces heat in Karnataka
Kamal Haasan's Thug Life, caught in a controversy over the actor's comment on Kannada language, will not be released in Karnataka on June 5, the scheduled date for the release of the movie across the country, its producers informed the Karnataka High Court on Tuesday. According to some industry experts, the film may lose at least Rs.30 crore if it fails to get released in Karnataka. Kamal has refused to apologise for his comment, saying that his comment 'said out of genuine affection for the legendary Rajkumar's family, especially Shiva Rajkumar, has been misunderstood and taken out of context." When a petition filed by the film's production house, Raaj Kamal Films International, seeking police protection for the movie in Karnataka, came up for hearing before Justice Nagaprasanna on Tuesday, counsel for the petitioner said that there was no malice and an apology was not warranted. The petitioner submitted that the screening of the movie would not be insisted upon in Karnataka till the issue gets resolved through dialogue. The court then posted the case to June 10 for further hearing. During the hearing, Haasan came in for strong criticism from the court for his remark suggesting that "Kannada was born out of Tamil," and the court observed that a "single apology could have resolved the situation." Justice Nagaprasanna asked, "Are you a historian or a linguist to make such a statement? No language is born out of another." Further, the judge said no citizen has the right to hurt sentiments and underlined that an apology "even a symbolic one," was missing. To this, the counsel for petitioner submitted that "an apology is needed when there is malice, not for a misunderstanding." Justice M Nagaprasanna said the actor's statement has triggered 'certain unrest in Karnataka', and held that it undermined the Karnataka people's sentiment of language.

Kamal Haasan avoids comment on Tamil-Kannada language row, shares stage with 'Thug Life' crew
Chennai, Top actor Kamal Haasan shared the stage here on Wednesday with 'Thug Life' stars including Silambarasan, but did not make any comment on the row related to his remark that Kannada was born out of Tamil language. Haasan, in his address, spoke on the hardwork of the film crew and international quality of technicians, who were behind the making of 'Thug Life, which is set for release on June 5, and said, "I should thank the entire state of Tamil Nadu which stood behind me." His comment assumes significance in the wake of the controversy following his remark on the evolution of Kannada langauge. The actor said he also fully realised the import/meaning of the "Uyire, Urave, Tamizhe," slogan he used in his public addresses. The three words, when used together conveys a deep love for the Tamil language and his great bond with it. Incidentally, Haasan used this tagline even in the Thug Life promotional event in Chennai during which he commented on the development of Kannada language. The top star praised the ace film director Mani Ratnam saying he has transformed into a "cinema gyani," and he was excited to work with him. Further, things related to Thug Life may be conversed later and it was his duty as a Tamilian to devote time for that purpose. The top star also thanked the media on the occasion. This is the first public appearance of Haasan after the Karnataka High Court criticised him on June 3 in connection with his Kannada was born out of Tamil comment. Producers of 'Thug Life' informed the Karnataka High Court that the movie will not be released in Karnataka on June 5 when it will be screened across the country. Observing that a "single apology could have resolved the situation," Justice M Nagaprasanna had said, "freedom of expression cannot be extended to the extent of hurting someone's sentiment, of a mass in words cannot be taken back, and they can only be cannot unscramble the scrambled egg."
