AC Milan beat Bologna to keep Euro hopes alive
AC Milan manager Sergio Conceicao urged his players to learn quickly from Friday's see-saw performance, warning that improvement is needed ahead of the Coppa Italia final despite a convincing win against Bologna in Serie A on Friday.
Milan's 3-1 victory at home offered a decent dress rehearsal for next Wednesday's final, where they will meet Bologna again at the iconic Stadio Olimpico in Rome, though the Portuguese manager was not entirely satisfied with his side.
"From tomorrow, we will start preparing for the Coppa Italia. We have to learn from what we did and did not do, as there were negatives and positives tonight," Concecaio told Sky Sport Italia.
"I expect differences to both teams, but this is a final, sometimes the side that doesn't play the best football ends up winning," he added.
With a Coppa Italia win, Milan will have two trophies this season, having also lifted the Supercoppa in early January, but Conceicao did not want to speculate if a win would secure his future.
"I am accustomed to certain things. This is not the moment to talk about me. At the right moment, I will speak," he said.
Bologna coach Vincenzo Italiano was unhappy with the final part of the match, where his side collapsed against an aggressive Milan who scored all three goals in the last minutes.
"We were in control of the game, had chances to score a second goal, but there was a 15-minute blackout that I cannot explain," Italiano told Sky Sport Italia.
"It was the worst 15 minutes I'd seen from my team in a long while, but otherwise we played with character and could've added more goals.
"We will analyse this, because on Wednesday we need a different approach from those who came off the bench, as I liked the way we started." — Reuters

The club said they would not be willing to sell me, only if I wanted to leave. "I spoke to my wife and family, and she asked me what my personal goals were in my career. "It would have been easy to move there but I want to keep myself at the highest level, playing in the big competitions and I feel capable of it. I am happy with my decision." Coach Inzaghi to leave Inter Milan
ROME: Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi is leaving after four years by "mutual agreement", the club announced on Tuesday, as Italian media reported he was moving to Saudi Arabia. "The club and Simone Inzaghi are parting ways. This is the decision taken by mutual agreement," Inter said in a statement. Both Inter and Inzaghi said the decision had been made at a meeting involving the coach and club President Giuseppe Marotta on Tuesday afternoon. The parting came just days after Saturday's 5-0 thumping by Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final. Talk had already been swirling about his exit, and last month Inzaghi played down rumours about a two-year deal with Saudi Pro League club Al-Hilal worth 50 million euros. Italian media said Tuesday this reported had been confirmed. Inzaghi took over Inter in 2021 and had a contract until 2026. The 49-year-old guided the club to one Serie A title — Inter's 20th — and two Italian Cups. He led the team to two Champions League finals in the past three seasons but lost both. On track to repeat the treble heroics of 2010 just a few weeks ago, Inter ended the season trophyless after falling away in each competition. In its statement, the club said Inzaghi's management was "characterised by great passion, accompanied by professionalism and dedication". His trophies had "brought the club back to the top of Italian and European football", it said. Marotta thanked him "for the work done, for the passion shown and also for the sincerity in today's discussion, which led to the common decision to separate our paths". Allegri returns to AC Milan as head coach for second time
Milan: AC Milan appointed Massimiliano Allegri as the new head coach on Friday, a day after sacking Sergio Conceicao, with the Italian tasked with transforming the struggling club into title contenders again in his second stint. Allegri will replace the Portuguese coach who came in mid-season to help them win the Italian Super Cup but was sacked after the club ultimately failed to qualify for any European competition after a disappointing eighth-placed finish. Their final game of the season, a 2-0 home win over Monza, was overshadowed by fan protests against the club ownership and hierarchy. Milan did not mention the length of Allegri's contract.
