McCoist names the Celtic transfer that would 'hurt' Rangers
The Irish striker is out of favour at Brighton and Hove Albion after an unsuccessful loan spell at West Ham United last season.
Ferguson burst onto the scene on the south coast in the 2022/23 campaign, across which he scored 10 goals in 25 games.

His future is currently up in the air, and several pundits have mentioned Celtic as potential suitors.
McCoist thinks Ferguson joining the Parkhead club would 'hurt' Rangers: "I'm a fan," he said [Scottish Sun].
"I want him to get fit. I really like Evan Ferguson, and I really want him to get fit and stay fit.
"He can finish. Out of all the younger ones coming through, I thought Evan Ferguson was the one to watch.
'Obviously, he's got one or two injuries going on that have held him back a bit, but if he keeps himself fit, he will score goals anywhere.
"The unfortunate thing for my mob [Rangers] is, he could come in and hurt us. Definitely.
"It wouldn't surprise me at all. I'm a big fan."
Shay Given, who spent time at Celtic as a teenager, thinks the striker would be a 'perfect' fit for the Scottish Premiership champions: "Evan just needs to find a home, if I'm being honest," he said last week.
"Be it here [at Celtic] or somewhere else. He needs someone to say, 'You're my player.'
"He went to West Ham for Graham Potter and you thought that was the perfect fit because Graham had him at Brighton. But then he didn't play so much at West Ham either.
"Michail Antonio and someone else was injured, yet they played Jarrod Bowen and Mohammed Kudus - not Ferguson. What happens next for Evan?
"I just think he needs to go, be it a loan for a season or some club buys him, and you build the team around him. I think he's a top player, I really do.
"I did some Malaysian TV recently with Bobby Zamora and he goes into Brighton once a week and coaches the strikers. Bobby said Evan was the best finisher at the club.
"Maybe because he burst onto the scene that everyone's been expecting so much so soon. But again, with young players, you need to have a bit of time.
"I just feel he's ready now to burst onto the scene for a full season with somebody. For us, with Ireland, it would be great too.
"I don't know if the finances would be to buy him, but if you said for a loan for the season, it would be perfect. But I'm not the financial power at Celtic or Newcastle, so I don't know!"

Luke Littler and Luke Humphries dubbed ‘rabbits in headlights' by darts legend

Legendary referee Bray believes the weight of expectation left the pair frozen. He said: 'With the two Lukes they looked like rabbits in headlights. They just couldn't get their game going at all. 'They were under a lot of pressure I think because of the hype, and you know world number one and two. READ MORE IN DARTS WORLD OF TROUBLE Luke Littler fires 4-word dig at World Cup of Darts winner who taunted him 'People were saying they were going to win and nobody will touch them. I just thought that caught up with them a little bit.' 'The Voice of Darts' questioned how well the duo gelled as a team. He added: 'And they are both very much individual players. I know dart players are. 'It's very much different being an individual and going out on your own than it is playing as a team. You've got a different mindset.' CASINO SPECIAL - BEST CASINO BONUSES FROM £10 DEPOSITS Bray also reckons the lethal Lukes rhythm was disrupted by the stop-start nature of doubles play. He explained: 'The two Lukes are also very much rhythm players. They're out of rhythm because they are not following the next player. Being made an MBE shows I've helped 'change face of darts' says Luke Humphries 'They throw their three darts, and they have to wait for another six before they get back on again. There are lots of things involved.' Northern Ireland won the tournament for the first time with an epic victory over Wales in a final-leg decider. While others tipped the Three Lions for the title, Bray saw it differently He revealed: 'If I'm being honest, I didn't expect the Irish boys to win it [Josh Rock and Daryl Gurney] — but I also didn't expect England to either. 'I thought Gerwyn Price and Jonny Clayton would be the ones to win it — alongside Scotland, would you believe, who got absolutely blasted out of sight.' Gerwyn Price was quick to claim that England's failure was down to Littler and Humphries not playing as a team. He said: 'I think you need a connection. I think you need to have that camaraderie off the stage. 'When all the teams first turned up on the first day, the only two players who didn't turn up together, didn't sit together, didn't play as a team. 'I'm not saying who they are. But they didn't win their first game. But you need to turn up together. You need to be as a team. "You practice together, you sit together, it's a team ethic. It didn't show with England and it showed on the board. 'They are great players individually. But you need to be a team. 'I wanted them to do well but they didn't. I'm not just saying that, but they were rubbish!' Meanwhile two-time world champion Dennis Priestley, 74, slammed world the pair for "letting their country down" after the early exit. 4 Gerwyn Price claimed Littler and Humprhies didn't act as a team during the tournament Credit: Getty

Hibs boss David Gray has addressed his team's chances of retaining cult hero Rocky Bushiri as he prepares to welcome half a squad of international players back to East Mains for pre-season training. And the Easter Road gaffer has outlined the club's search for a striker following the departures of Dylan Vente, Mykola Kuharevich and Dwight Gayle. Bushiri is effectively a free agent after allowing his contract to expire at the end of the campaign. But Hibs have kept talks with the Democratic Republic of Congo international going over the summer – and appear to be closer to agreement on a new deal for the centre-half, a huge figure in last season's spectacular turnaround in fortunes. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad Gray, asked yesterday if he expects to see Bushiri report for pre-season as scheduled this Friday, said: 'Positive conversations with Rocky. He's another one that had a fantastic season. 'He'll be another one that's enjoying a little bit of a rest just now because his season, as you just touched on, was prolonged. He went away with his national team, did well there. 'I'm not sure where he is right now in the world! He'll be resting somewhere because the expectation is all the international players get slightly longer.' Will Easter Road club bring in more than one striker? The return of Bushiri is seen as crucial by Gray, who has placed great store on keeping his squad together after they climbed from the relegation zone to clinch third place in the Scottish Premiership. At the other end of the park, meanwhile, Hibs are on the hunt for at least one striker – for starters. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad Vente's £1 million-plus move to SC Heerenveen follows Gayle's retirement and the move by Kuharevich, who impressed Gray during an injury-affected second loan stint with Hibs last season, to Slovan Bratislava. As things stand, Hibs have newly-capped Scotland striker Kieron Bowie, Socceroos star Martin Boyle and – if fit – Elie Youan as forward options. Asked if the departure of Vente merely accentuated the need to recruit another striker, Gray said: 'Yeah, we're still working hard. It does obviously show that this is an area of the pitch we need to bring bodies in. 'But it's not just a body you want. You want someone who's going to add to the group and strengthen and compensate for other areas in which we maybe not got. 'So, you look at what we've already still got in the building. You've got Kieron Bowie. Physically, he's going to really benefit from a real good pre-season. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad 'Great to see him get his international call-up as well, which will do him the world of good confidence-wise as well. We know how effective he was last season. Having him here for the start of the season is brilliant. 'It's now about adding to the squad and getting that strength in depth. And it shows how valuable that was for us last season, Gayle coming off the bench and having a massive impact on the amount of games he played. So, we are looking to make sure we've got that strength in depth. 'I think it's just the position, when you look at that. I think obviously Gayle has moved on. He's retired. 'I should have mentioned how well he'd done for us last season. Not just on the pitch, off the pitch stuff with him as well. He was fantastic for the group. I know I spoke a lot about that last season. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad 'So, as I've already touched on, how good the group is and how strong it was last season. That's something we always want to try and protect and make sure we do bring the right type of people in.' Asked if he'd be looking for more than one centre forward in the summer window, Gray said: 'I think it's all about looking. You want to get one in the door first to see what that looks like. 'We've all got targets in different areas and what they're going to bring to the table, and I think it's a case of managing that whole situation. But right now, you need to get the first one in and see what that looks like - and then adjust from there accordingly. 'Clearly, we had players that played a lot of games last season, the loan players. You had Myko and Nectar Triantis, who both played a lot of games. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad 'These are positions that we're going to need to fill. We know that. We are working hard to do it. 'And like I said last season, it's not just a case of bringing in a number. We need to make sure we strengthen the group. We always want to try and improve all the time and make sure we bring the right type of people to the club.' Club owners continuing to back gaffer in transfer market Insisting the club turning a profit on Vente shouldn't impact his activity in the market, Gray said: 'I think the budget has been set for a long time now. And one thing I've always said is the support and the backing for the Gordon family has always been there - and will continue to be there. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad 'It's been fantastic from that point of view. And the hard work and everything that's going on with that is just constantly trying to support the club and trying to improve the club. 'So, that's not really my side of the job. It's about making sure I get results and performances. But the backing is always there and will continue to be.'

Celtic see Matt O'Riley windfall put in major jeopardy as 'preferred' suitor performs £30m Brighton transfer trick
A host of Italian clubs are on alert despite the Premier League side remaining keen to keep the playmaker at the AMEX In-demand Matt O'Riley has reportedly told Brighton he would prefer to join Roma this summer if he leaves the club. But that could leave Celtic's sell-on windfall at risk with the Serie A giants looking to avoid a major Financial Fair Play pitfall. The Hoops have already seen the Parkhead coffers boosted this summer by a sell-on windfall after Jeremie Frimpong 's move to Liverpool from Bayer Leverkusen. And the Scottish champions powerbrokers are on alert again amid reports that Napoli made a £25.6million (€30million) offer for the Danish international just 12 months on from his £25million Parkhead exit. Celtic hold a 10 per cent sell-on clause in the deal that took the 24-year-old to the AMEX Stadium last season - but the Seagulls are said to be in no rush to sell with talks "ongoing" over a deal. La Gazzetta dello Sport now claim Roma have already made contact with the midfielder's entourage with O'Riley "eager" to join the club. However, I Giallorossi are said to be 'formulating" a loan offer with obligation to buy next summer - with Brighton demanding £30million for the playmaker. It is noted that Roma are currently focussed on selling players to balance the books before the June 30 FFP deadline. O'Riley is said to be willing to wait for a move to link up with Gian Piero Gasperini - who is a big fan of the player having previously attempted to bring him to Atalanta from Celtic. O'Riley endured an injury-hampered debut campaign at the AMEX Stadium but showed flashes of his best form in the final weeks of the season. But the man himself has bemoaned the fact he's been unable to play in his favoured position under head coach Fabian Hurzeler - with Georginio Rutter deployed in the playmaker role. Speaking in his homeland, the Denmark international said: "I am not completely happy, and I am just giving my opinion. 'It makes it difficult to show off when you play a position you are not completely happy with. I can play better for the team if I play the number eight position, but I can play well in other positions. "You can say it in a way that is not aggressive. If you are honest with another person, you don't lose anything. The coach can always say he doesn't agree."
