Cam Newton goes off on Bill Belichick, Jordon Hudson for causing UNC problems: ‘We would laugh at this'

New York Post15-05-2025

There are one too many Jordons at Chapel Hill these days, according to Cam Newton.
The former Heisman and MVP-winning quarterback called out North Carolina's new head football coach, Bill Belichick, for being a distraction to the team as his 24-year-old girlfriend, Jordon Hudson, continues to make headlines.
'I find it extremely interesting for a person who always led with this: 'Do not be a distraction,'' Newton said in a TikTok clip. 'We talking more about Jordon Hudson than talking about who's our starting quarterback. You can't name me three players on North Carolina's roster right now besides Jordon Hudson.
'Now you have that same situation with a 16-year-old that you're trying to recruit. And you got to talk to his momma? This ain't a good look.'

Newton notes that Belichick had consistently talked about eliminating distractions while the coach of the Patriots dynasty, notably in 2015.
Newton played for Belichick in 2020 when he was benched for rookie Mac Jones.
Former Patriots legend Julian Edelman recently noted how the drama involving Hudson had become exactly what Belichick aimed to avoid in Foxborough.
'The No. 1 thing we used to talk about all the time in New England was distractions. 'Let's not make distractions. The game's already as hard as it is. To prepare for it, to play, to coach.' And regardless of what her role is, Jordon, yeah, I thought he got an unfair public opinion on the whole thing, because that happens all the time,' Edelman said on 'The Herd with Colin Cowherd.' 'Anytime we do behind-the-scenes this, that, you've got someone that represents you, they're gonna jump in.
'But now that it's gained and it's snowballed to what it's become right now, where we're talking about it three weeks later, it's become a distraction. That's what we all think right now. This is becoming a distraction. We gotta practice what we preach here.'
Belichick has done anything but that in recent months and Newton adds that college players could get a bit spiteful with their coach, considering his relationships problems aren't that different than those one of his student-athletes may be encountering.
Hudson, 24, could be the same age as a graduate assistant on his staff and just a few years older than an upperclassman on his roster.

'In the NFL locker room, we would laugh at this,' Newton continued. 'As a teenager, I could compartmentalize this person as being my coach and take heed of what he's saying. And be able to not throw that back at him and say, 'Eh, what you got going on, coach? Got girl problems just like me?''
The drama surrounding Belichick and Hudson has only intensified in recent weeks.
Hudson interjected multiple times in an interview with 'CBS Sunday Morning,' saying her 73-year-old boyfriend would not be answering a question about how they met.
Belichick later released a statement knocking CBS for 'selective editing' and not sticking to a discussion about his book, and he also defending his girlfriend's action.

CBS denied that this interview was supposed to solely focused on the book and instead was a wide ranging discussion within the bounds of a prior agreement.
After mass backlash came from all avenues, Belichick did a recent interview with ESPN and firmly declared that Hudson 'doesn't have anything to do with UNC football.'
4 Some have speculated that Belichick won't ever coach on UNC sidelines.
AP
Belichick previously required all emails to have Hudson CC'd on them in a wild twist that would point to some sort of involvement with the program.
As spring practice starts, Pablo Torre added that he believes that there's a 'real chance' that Belichick will never coach a game for UNC.
Torre also reported that Hudson had been banned from North Carolina, which the school denied.
'While Jordon Hudson is not an employee at the University or Carolina Athletics, she is welcome to the Carolina Football facilities. Jordon will continue to manage all activities related to Coach Belichick's personal brand outside of his responsibilities for Carolina Football and the University,' Carolina Athletics told The Post in a statement.

Lindor comes through as pinch hitter in 9th on broken toe, hits 2-run double as Mets beat Rockies

Associated Press DENVER (AP) — Francisco Lindor had a soothing remedy for his broken right pinky toe — a go-ahead hit. Questionable before Friday's game, the Mets shortstop entered as a pinch hitter in the ninth inning and delivered a two-run double to send New York to a 4-2 win over the Colorado Rockies. Lindor sent a cutter from reliever Zach Agnos (0-2) into right field to score Juan Soto and a sliding Pete Alonso. It was Lindor's first go-ahead, pinch-hit RBI of his career, according to the postgame notes. 'Once it comes to those moments, I'm just there to make something happen,' Lindor explained. 'Just get a good pitch, and whatever happens, happens. Don't let the moment get too big.' He tuned out any pain from his toe once he stepped into the batter's box. 'Something is not 100% for sure. But I'm not the only one,' Lindor said. 'I would say most of the guys are not 100%. So there's no excuses." Lindor said manager Carlos Mendoza asked him around the fourth or fifth inning if he might be available to hit. His response was simple. 'I said, 'Yeah,'' Lindor recounted. Lindor's availability — pain and all — comes as no surprise to Alonso. 'That's really special, having a teammate willing to put his body on the line every single day like that,' said Alonso, who had a big game with his bat (a two-run double), his arm (he threw out a runner at home in the fifth) and his sliding ability (he avoided a tag at home on Lindor's double). 'That's a true pro, in my opinion, and he embodies that.' Lindor's pinky toe was broken by a pitch from Dodgers right-hander Tony Gonsolin in the first inning on Wednesday. He sat out Thursday and recovered enough to pinch-hit Friday. He may even be in the lineup on Saturday. 'I would like to start,' Lindor said. 'It's going to be up to the trainers and (Mendoza) and we are going to make a decision together. ... Hopefully tomorrow I'll wake up in a good spot.' Lindor is hitting .282 with 14 homers and 38 RBIs this season. He finished runner-up to Dodgers designated hitter Shohei Ohtani in the NL MVP race last season. Ronny Mauricio filled in for Lindor at shortstop against the Rockies on Friday. He had a double in the eighth, his first hit since being called up Tuesday. Manaea makes rehab start In Wilmington, Delaware, Mets lefty Sean Manaea made a rehab start for High-A Brooklyn against the Blue Rocks. He threw 36 pitches — 26 strikes — over 1 2/3 innings, allowing four hits and three earned runs. Manaea, who has been sidelined all season by an oblique injury, struck out two and didn't walk a batter. The 33-year-old Manaea re-signed as a free agent with the Mets for $75 million over three years. He went 12-6 with a 3.47 ERA in 32 starts last season. ___ AP MLB: recommended

Surprising NHL Team Expected to Be 'Major' Players in Free Agency

Surprising NHL Team Expected to Be 'Major' Players in Free Agency originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The NHL offseason is almost upon us, with the 2025 Stanley Cup Final getting set to start on Wednesday. This summer is expected to be very active for a lot of teams, with multiple sides looking to get close to winning a title. Advertisement But one team in particular could be a major player in free agency, and that is the Carolina Hurricanes. After losing in the Eastern Conference Final again, Carolina is gearing up for a massive offseason. Hurricanes general manager Eric Tulsky spoke about the upcoming summer, hinting at the plans of the team. 'If there's any chance to get better, we're going to take it,' Tulsky said during a postseason meeting with the media. 'We have the full buy-in to spend to the cap if there are ways to do it to get better. "We have so much space and such a strong team. There's no guarantee we can find ways to spend all that money, but we're going to spend all summer trying.' Carolina Hurricanes center Sebastian Aho (20) and Anaheim Ducks defenseman Olen Zellweger (51) watch the puck during the third period at Lenovo Center. James Guillory-Imagn Images It remains unknown which players would be of interest to Carolina, but they will have room to make a big splash. The expected salary cap for next season is coming in at $92.4 million. Advertisement 'Our goal is to win a Cup, and our goal is to win more Cups after that and keep going,' Tulsky said. 'We're trying to build a team that can compete year after year. But competing isn't enough. We want to win. So you've got to find a way to do that.' If the Hurricanes can add some more talent, they may finally be able to get over the hump to reach the Stanley Cup Final. Carolina has a solid core in place, and it seems that they are just a piece or two away from truly contending. Olivia Culpo Says Husband Christian McCaffrey Will Be Hiding If She's Matching Their Baby

A 'very pregnant' Olivia Culpo is sharing how she's preparing to welcome her first child with husband Christian McCaffrey into the world. As she anxiously awaits the end of her third trimester, Culpo, who announced her pregnancy in March took to TikTok on Friday, June 6, to share some of her baby must-haves with other soon-to-be moms. From her favorite style of onesies to her stroller and the highchair she grabbed, purely for "esthetic" reasons, Culpo, 33, seemingly has everything she needs for her little one's arrival. 'Everything that I have for my baby, is green or beige,' Culpo, who still hasn't publicly shared the sex of her unborn child yet, explained. As she showed off the gender-neutral 'Little Sleepies' onesies she purchased, she also shared how excited she is to match with her little one while holding up the matching robe she got for herself. 'You can match with your baby,' Culpo continued, admitting she's 'a sucker for that.' Olivia Culpo Shares New Bump Pic 1 Week After Announcing Pregnancy 'I will be matching with my child, girl or boy,' the excited mom-to-be said. 'If you ever see all three of us matching, me, Oliver, and my baby, there's a chance Christian's hiding somewhere in the background, also matching.' Culpo admitted that she was 'stuck' and 'about to cry' while initially filling out her baby registry, before she used other moms' BabyList registries as 'a resource.' 'It helped take out so much of the guess work,' the new mom shared. 'You can list, categorize, figure out what you're missing and need to supplement. It really brought me peace knowing that I could use other people's suggestions as a guideline so if you feel stuck, and you are about to cry the way that I was, take my registry, and just copy it.' Sophia Culpo Pokes Fun at Olivia Culpo Using Her Dog to Hide Her Baby Bump In the comment section, Culpo's mother-in-law sent a message of encouragement and thanks. 'Can't wait! Love you. You are doing great,' Lisa McCaffrey wrote. 'Thanks for carrying my grandchild!' And other moms shared their own suggestions and praised Culpo for not finding out the sex of their unborn child, calling it 'the best surprise in the world.' In a video from her baby shower, Culpo, Christian, and other members of their family shared their guesses. 'I am your mom, and I have no idea who you are. I thought you were a boy. Now everyone says you're a girl. So I think you're a girl, but watch you be a boy.'
