SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) Original — The family behind a new mobile German cuisine business operating in the Concho Valley is searching for answers after revealing online that their food trailer 'exploded' while being held in storage following its first week in San Angelo.
According to a post made on The Tasty Kraut's Facebook page, the business will be 'out of business for at least the next few weeks' due to the incident.
Holger Buchwalder, husband of The Tasty Kraut owner Pia Buchwalder, stated that the explosion occurred sometime between when the trailer was stored on March 23 at the Affordable Self Storage site on United States Highway 67 and when they arrived to retrieve the trailer on March 24.
'We were here yesterday cleaning the inside and put it back in the storage,' Holger Buchwalder said. 'When we came here to pick it up this morning to open at Office Depot, … it was like, nothing left.'
San Angelo food trailer to expand operations
The Dove Creek Volunteer Fire Department reported on March 24 that it responded to a structure fire at the Affordable Storage site at 11:45 p.m. on March 23 alongside mutual aid from multiple other fire departments. At the scene, 'it was observed that a storage unit containing a food truck had exploded' and that 'heavy smoke was coming from the unit.' Dove Creek VFD stated that 'there were no injuries reported and the incident was quickly mitigated.'
Holger Buchwalder stated that he does not know what could have incited the blast.
'The only thing I know is that it exploded last night,' Holger Buchwalder said.
In a separate post published on the Facebook page for The Tasty Kraut, it was stated that insurance would cover part of the damage. However, it was also said that 'we don't know how and when we can start again.'
'It was our future here in the States … it was insured, but I don't know how long it takes, and at the moment, we're out of business,' Holger Buchwalder said.
Holger Buchwalder shared that he and his wife moved to Texas from Germany 15 months ago before opening The Tasty Kraut in January 2025. Originally beginning operations in Mertzon, The Tasty Kraut was brought to San Angelo to serve food at events during the week prior to the explosion.
'Last week was so amazing in San Angelo, all the support from the people, everybody liked the food,' Holger Buchwalder said. 'Now we stand here at the rest of our investment, and we don't know where it goes from here.'
A representative of the Affordable Self Storage site where the food trailer was held declined to provide comments when asked for statements by Concho Valley Homepage staff.

Texas A&M will retain key assistant on HC Bucky McMillan's 2025 staff

Texas A&M will retain key assistant on HC Bucky McMillan's 2025 staff Bucky McMillan has officially retained Assistant Director of Operations Shane Sinon per release. Served as Buzz Williams' assistant, and did a lot of the day-to-day tasks for the head coach as well as assistant in traveling and inventory for the Aggies. — Jaxson Callaway (AT) (@AggiesToday) June 9, 2025 New Texas A&M basketball head coach Bucky McMillan has assembled his 2025 coaching staff this offseason, adding five veteran coaches, led by Mitch Cole, Kyle Keller, and TJ Cleveland, who all bring a blend of experience and recruiting expertise to the 2025 roster. While most of the former head coach Buzz Williams' 2024 coaching staff is expected to join Maryland, one key assistant will reportedly stay in College Station under McMillan. According to Texas A&M's media team, Shane Sinon, one of the lesser-known names on the coaching staff, who served as a graduate assistant under Williams last season, will now serve as McMillan's Assistant Director of Operations. According to Jaxson Callaway (AggiesToday), Sinon served as Buzz Williams' day-to-day assistant, also assisting in traveling and inventory for the program last season. Sinon appears to be a rising star in the coaching ranks and will serve under current Director of Operations Warren Fitzpatrick, assisting with team operations that include recruiting, finances, and media-based situations. This will likely finish out Texas A&M's 2025 basketball staff, which Bucky McMillan will rely on during his inaugural season and beyond. Again, while Sinon is now a well-known name, it's the lesser-known assistants who are putting in the work behind the scenes. Evri's DHL deal to create one of the UK's largest delivery firms

Evri is set to merge its e-commerce operations with rival DHL in a move that will reshape the UK's parcel delivery landscape and create one of the UK's largest delivery firms. The deal will see the creation of one of the country's largest delivery entities, handling a combined total of more than one billion parcels and one billion letters annually. As part of the agreement, German-owned DHL Group will acquire a "significant minority stake" in Evri, with US private equity firm Apollo, which acquired Evri last year for £2.7 billion, remaining the majority shareholder. The merged operations will function under the Evri Group banner, uniting a workforce of more than 30,000 couriers and van drivers, alongside an additional 12,000 employees. This merger marks a significant development in the UK's competitive delivery market, bringing together two major players to create a formidable force in parcel and letter delivery. They said the merger will offer 'greater choice and cost-competitive solutions' to businesses and consumers, and expand import and export capabilities. The deal will also see Evri entering the UK business letter market for the first time, bolstering its competition to Royal Mail. Martijn de Lange, chief executive of Evri, said: 'We are excited that DHL ecommerce UK will merge with Evri to bring together two highly complementary UK businesses, committed to innovation and offering customers and clients the best possible service. 'By combining Evri's scale, innovation and DHL ecommerce's best-in-class premium van network, we are creating the pre-eminent parcel delivery group in the UK.' Pablo Ciano, chief executive of DHL ecommerce, said: 'DHL ecommerce and Evri both stand for top service quality, reliability and sustainability, which makes this partnership a great fit for our customers. 'Together, we'll be able to offer more efficient, far-reaching and innovative solutions to keep up with the fast-paced e-commerce market.'
