RTA launches traffic enhancement works in 40 locations

Trade Arabia3 days ago

Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has commenced a series of traffic improvements across 40 key locations in the emirate, scheduled for implementation between June and September 2025.
The works will cover 22 major streets, nine school zones, more than five development areas, and several internal roads in Tolerance District, Al Khawaneej 2, and Nad Al Sheba.
These improvements will be carried out during the summer holiday to minimise disruption to daily traffic flow while ensuring the highest safety standards at all targeted sites.
These efforts form part of a broader strategy to improve traffic flow, road safety, journey times, and connectivity between residential, educational, and development areas across the city, RTA said.
The next phase will include traffic enhancements at key locations, such as Jumeirah Village Circle towards Hessa Street, Ras Al Khor Road, Al Thanya Street, and King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud Street. Additional improvements will be made to Al Meydan Street, Al Sa'ada Street, Al Asayel Street, and the junction of Al Wasl Street with Al Manara Street.
As part of its commitment to improving traffic efficiency and road safety around educational institutions, RTA is undertaking roadworks at nine strategic school zone locations. This includes upgrades at the Al Warqa 1 school complex, the construction of an additional bus entrance at GEMS School in Al Warqa 3, the widening of access and exit points around The English College in Al Safa 1 on Sheikh Zayed Road, and the installation of a signal-controlled pedestrian crossing on Al Seedaf Street in Al Barsha 1. These measures aim to ease congestion during peak morning and afternoon hours.
In response to the emirate's population growth and booming economy, RTA is also implementing traffic solutions at five major development zones. This includes the construction of a direct access route to Al Muhaisnah labour camps from Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, upgrades to Al Mustaqbal Street (Brookfield) for improved access to newly developed residential communities, better connectivity between Al Khail Road and Al Asayel Street via Al Marabea' Street, and enhancements at Nad Al Hamar junction near Lootah Mosque. Additionally, new parking facilities will be developed to serve Zayed Educational Complex in Oud Al Muteena 1.

Global Visitors Summit set to transform travel trade connections in Dubai

The Global Visitors Summit (GVS) is coming to Dubai for the first time this August, bringing with it an unprecedented opportunity for the UAE's travel and hospitality industry to connect with top-tier global travel buyers in one place, at one time. Taking place on August 25–26 at the striking SO/ Uptown Hotel Dubai, the GVS will welcome 80 hosted travel buyers from some of the most dynamic outbound markets — including India, the CIS, GCC, Europe, and Brazil. These buyers represent a powerful mix of leisure travel specialists, MICE planners, OTAs, tour operators, and corporate travel agencies, each actively selling and promoting travel into the UAE and Gulf region. The GVS is built for efficiency and precision. Participating suppliers — from hotels, DMCs, attractions, shopping malls, museums, destinations, car rental companies, and airlines — can pre-select the buyers they want to meet, tailoring the schedule to match their business priorities, whether leisure groups, business travel, or MICE. Over the course of two days, suppliers will enjoy: • 55 pre-scheduled one-on-one meetings with handpicked buyers • A complete directory of all 80+ participating buyers, not just those scheduled for appointments • 15-minute structured sessions at buyer meeting points, with guaranteed punctuality and professionalism • A powerful and focused environment designed to maximize business opportunities "The GVS was designed with one goal: to make global travel business development easy, smart, and personal," says Alexander Glos, CEO of the China i2i Group, which organises the event in partnership with DNATA Representation Services in the UAE and One Rep Global in India. "We're bringing together top-tier global buyers with a specific interest in the UAE and GCC region, all under one roof, and giving travel suppliers the tools to connect, collaborate, and convert.' Side-by-Side with China Visitors Summit The GVS will run concurrently with the China Visitors Summit (CVS), which hosts 150 Chinese travel buyers—making this the largest B2B travel event of its kind ever held in the UAE, with 220 global buyers in total. Participants in either summit will have the option to access both events, dramatically expanding their business reach across the world's most important growth markets.

Dubai International Airport slashes parking fees for travellers

As hundreds of thousands of travellers get ready to head off on vacation this month, Dubai Airports is reducing its parking prices, helping guests enjoy an even more hassle-free journey. Begjnning today (June 10) until June 30, anyone choosing long-term parking will benefit from a reduction in parking rates across all terminals at Dubai International (DXB), said the statement from Dubai Airports. Guests can now park for three days at a rate of AED100 ($27.2), seven days for AED200, and 14 days for AED300. These revised rates apply across all DXB terminals and are aimed at providing greater value and ease for those heading off on their summer holidays, it stated. To make their trip even smoother, guests can also continue to use DXB Express Maps, the digital wayfinding tool that provides real-time navigation across DXB. By scanning a QR code displayed on any flight information screen at the airport, guests can locate their gate, browse the full array of dining and retail options, or find nearby facilities and amenities quickly and easily. To ensure a hassle-free journey and more enhanced travel experience at DXB, Dubai Airports is also offering tips for guests who will be travelling in the coming weeks. It includes: *Guests flying with Emirates can use the airline's home, early and self-service check-in facilities as well as city check-in options. *Guests flying with other airlines should arrive at DXB no earlier than 3 hours before the scheduled departure time. DXB recommends using online check-in where available. *For those travelling with families, children over the age of 12 can use Smart Gates to speed through immigration. *Weighing luggage at home, assembling documents in advance, and being prepared for security checks helps to minimise stress at the airport. *Spare batteries and power banks are considered a safety hazard and are prohibited to be carried in or as checked-in luggage. Passengers must properly pack batteries and power banks and carry them in their hand luggage only. *Travellers can use Dubai Metro to get to and from DXB Terminals 1 and 3. Metro operating times are generally extended during public holidays or during special occasions. *Those visiting the airport to pick up guests are advised to use DXB's designated car parks or valet services to receive their guests in comfort. *DXB offers enhanced services for People of Determination through clearly marked accessibility routes, trained staff wearing Sunflower pins ready to support guests wearing the Sunflower Lanyard, and a dedicated Assisted Travel Lounge in Terminal 2. With DXB expecting to welcome an average of over 250,000 passengers a day through the airport, this limited-time special offer, valid at Terminal 1 Car Park B, Terminal 2, and Terminal 3, allows guests more time to enjoy the diverse offerings at DXB, said the statement.
