Samsung's Android 16 Beta Update Could Rollout Soon: Expected Features And Phones Supported
Last Updated:
Samsung is looking to fix the issues faced with the One UI 7 update last year and plans to bring the Android 16 version much earlier in 2025.
Samsung has been slow with the Android 15-based One UI 7 rollout this year but the company is looking to amends with the Android 16 update. Reports in South Korea claim Samsung is ready to start the Android 16 beta program which will give us a closer look at the One UI 8 version.
The company has already confirmed the Android 16 rollout timeline for its users and unlike the One UI 7, the new version will be rolling out by Summer 2025. Samsung's head of smartphone planning, Minseok Kang has announced that the Android 16 based will be coming out this Summer which means anywhere between June 2025 to September this year.
The Samsung Members app in South Korea has added a new tab which lets the Galaxy phone users sign up for the beta program once the banner is enabled soon. The company is looking to fix the issues that plagued its One UI 7 rollout, probably because this was one of the bigger upgrades for the brand which made the UI overhauls significant as well as time consuming.
Earlier this month Google confirmed that Android 16 release will happen as early as June, which is the fastest new version update we have seen from the tech giant. Google has usually used the Pixel launch event to announce the new Android version roll out which happens around October. Now, we wait to see if Samsung is able to expedite its rollout this year.

From bank accounts to new mobile connections and more: What is KYC and why is it mandatory for availing key services?
Representational Image What is KYC: From opening a new bank account to purchasing a new SIM card, or availing any financial service like credit cards, bank loans, etc, KYC is the first step required by the service provider to authenticate their customer. But what exactly is KYC, and why is it mandatory to avail key services in India? Let us find out. What is KYC and what are the required documents it needs? In layman's terms, KYC or Know Your Customer is a process used by a service provider or company, such as a bank or a telecom service provider, to ensure that their customer is a real entity, and the details furnished by him/her to avail a service, are not fake or fraudulent. KYC process requires government-issued documents that the company can use to authenticate the identity, address, and other details of the customer. Depending on the service, the most commonly required documents for KYC process include the Aadhaar card, PAN card, passport, voter ID card, and/or driving license. Most KYC processes require customers to provide copies of these documents in person or via live photo or video verification. Why banks, financial services, digital wallets require KYC? KYC is a mandatory process in banks, and indeed the entire financial sector, as it significantly reduces the chances of financial crimes like money laundering, fraud accounts, etc. KYC ensures that the person availing any financial services, like taking out a loan or opening a new bank account, is the same one in submitted documents. Banks and other financial institutions can provide limited services without KYC, and may even freeze bank accounts if the process is not completed on time. Similarly, digital wallets like Paytm, PhonePe, Google Pay, Amazon Pay, etc, have limited functionality without KYC, which is required to enjoy full access to their services. Why new mobile connections need KYC? Akin to financial services, telecom service provider require KYC before issuing and activating a new SIM card to ensure that the person availing the service is the same one in the documents. Today, mobile operators commonly use Aadhaar-based eKYC where a customer's identity verified via OTP. Various KYC methods Apart from Aadhaar-based eKYC, customers can also opt for a physical KYC by filling up relevant forms and submitting photocopies of the required documents. Additionally, several bank services require Video KYC in which a bank agent confirms the identity and details of the customer via a live video call.

Builder.ai, DailyHunt parent VerSe faked revenue from sham deals as part of ‘round-tripping': Report
a London-based AI startup bound for bankruptcy, allegedly colluded with Indian social media startup VerSe Innovation to fabricate business deals and present artificially inflated sales figures to investors. The two companies regularly billed each other for nearly the same amounts even though neither of them actually provided the products and services in a practice known as 'round-tripping', according to a report by Bloomberg. is a platform used to build apps and software using AI with 'no tech knowledge needed.' In May this year, the company announced that it was planning to file for bankruptcy after lenders decided to seize most of its funds. Once valued at $1.5 billion, is one of the most prominent AI startups to fail amid an investment frenzy first sparked by the launch of ChatGPT in 2022. Its collapse serves as a stark reminder of the risks involved in rushing to back the next OpenAI or Anthropic. VerSe Innovation, on the other hand, is the Bengaluru-based parent company of popular news aggregator app DailyHunt, which reportedly has more than 350 million monthly users. Over four years, reported receiving nearly $60 million in revenue from VerSe for services such as app development. The AI startup, in turn, transferred funds to VerSe and its subsidiary, Quark Media Tech, for services such as marketing, as per the report. Although the transfers didn't happen at exactly the same time, both and VerSe received nearly the same amount from each other, Bloomberg reported. However, Umang Bedi, one of the co-founders of VerSe, has dismissed the allegations of round-tripping as 'absolutely baseless and false'. 'We're not the kind of company that is in the business of inflating revenues,' he was quoted as saying by the business news outlet. 'There is no correlation on any timing of any payment to any partner,' he added. VerSe's investors include Goldman Sachs and Google. In 2022, the startup raised $805 million from the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board and other investors at a $5 billion valuation. Meanwhile, has been backed by Microsoft, Insight Partners and the Qatar Investment Authority (QIA), one of the world's largest sovereign wealth funds. In 2023, Microsoft had announced that solutions would be integrated with its cloud and Teams. founder Sachin Dev Duggal exited the company in February this year. He was replaced by Manpreet Ratia as CEO. 'With no viable alternatives, the Board has made the extremely difficult decision to enter into insolvency,' Ratia reportedly wrote in an internal email a few months later.
