History of Shivaji Maharaj to be included in national curriculum
History of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj will now be included in the national school education curriculum. Maharashtra School Education Minister Dadaji Bhuse announced it on Thursday after a meeting held in New Delhi with Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
As per information shared by Bhuse's office Maharashtra demanded that Shivaji Maharaj's legacy be introduced more extensively to students across the country through NCERT textbooks. Union Minister Pradhan accepted the proposal immediately and directed officials to begin the process. 'It is an honour that history of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj will now be studied by students across India,' said Bhuse.
The meeting, held at Shastri Bhavan in Delhi, was attended by senior officials, including Union Education Secretary Sanjay Kumar, additional secretaries Anil Kumar Singhal and Anand Patil, Maharashtra principal secretary Ranjeet Singh Deol, education commissioner Sachindra Pratap Singh and SCERT director Rahul Rekhawar.
The meeting also highlighted the demand for greater national representation of the Marathi language, especially after it received classical language status. As per information shared by Bhuse's office, Pradhan assured positive action on this front.
The Maharshtra school education department also made a presentation of various initiatives taken up by the state to enhance standards of school education. This included information on Maharashtra's proposed conversion of 5,000 schools into model institutions under a new 'CM Shri' scheme, mirroring the Centre's 'PM Shri' initiative, 'Idol' school recognition and Anand Gurukul initiative among others.
Maharashtra also raised demands such as increasing honorariums for school cooks under PM Poshan scheme, upgrading classrooms, smart education facilities, and better support for rural and tribal students along with expanding student scholarships, etc.

Highlighting the growing cooperation between India and Denmark in green maritime technologies, Sonowal praised Denmark for its global leadership in energy efficiency and digital shipping. He said India, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is modernising its maritime sector through policy reform, infrastructure investment, and international collaboration. 'India's vast coastline and heavy reliance on sea trade -- over 90 per cent of its volume -- make the maritime sector a central pillar of its economic strategy,' the minister noted. He also shared the government's plans to scale up maritime education and workforce, aiming to increase India's maritime professionals from 7.86 million to nearly 40 million by 2047. He highlighted a sharp rise in women seafarers, from just 1,699 in 2014 to over 7,000 in 2024, as a sign of the country's focus on diversity and inclusion. His visit was marked by a detailed conversation with maritime professionals and faculty members, focusing on India's commitment to sustainable development and economic growth. The event underlined India's deepening ties with Denmark and its increasing engagement with global academic and professional institutions in the maritime field.

Amit Shah felicitates Chhattisgarh police officers for historic success in anti-Naxal operation
RAIPUR: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday met with Chhattisgarh's senior police and intelligence officers who played a pivotal role in recent anti-Naxal operations in LWE affected regions. Shah felicitated Chhattisgarh Director General of Police Arun Dev Gautam, Vivekananda Sinha, additional DG (Anti-Naxal ops), P Sundarraj, Bastar range inspector general of police and three SPs. The meeting took place in New Delhi, where Shah personally congratulated the team on what is being hailed as one of the most significant counter-insurgency successes ever in the fight against Left-Wing Extremism. Chhattisgarh chief minister Vishnu Deo Sai and deputy CM Vijay Sharma were present during the meeting. In a post on social media platform X, Shah wrote, 'Met the officers who played a crucial role in the recent anti-Naxal operations and congratulated them on the historic success of these operations. I am eager to meet the brave jawans who made these operations successful with their courage and will soon visit Chhattisgarh to meet them. Modi government is committed to freeing India from the menace of Naxalism.' Shah's remarks come in the wake of a major operation conducted from May 18-21 in Abujhmarh region — one of the most remote and challenging terrains in central India. In a critical encounter on May 21, security forces gunned down 27 Maoists, including the CPI (Maoist) General Secretary and Polit Bureau member Basavaraju alias Gaganna. He was one of the most wanted Maoist leaders in the country. A substantial cache of arms and ammunition was also recovered. Security forces involved in the operation included District Reserve Guard (DRG) units from Narayanpur, Dantewada, Kondagaon, and Bijapur districts, working in coordination under the leadership of top police officials. During the felicitation event, Shah also honoured Prabhat Kumar, SP Narayanpur, Jitendra Yadav, Bijapurand Shalabh Sinha, SP Bastar, in presence of CM Sai, state home minister Sharma, Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, Director of Intelligence Bureau Tapan Deka, and several senior officers from the Centre and state security apparatus. Madhya Pradesh CM urges Amit Shah to order CBI probe into Indore woman's disappearance in Meghalaya
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Saturday (June 7, 2025) requested Union Home Minister Amit Shah to order a CBI probe into the disappearance of an Indore-based woman in Meghalaya a fortnight back. The woman — Sonam Raghuvanshi (25) — went missing along with her husband Raja Raghuvanshi (29) on May 23, hours after they checked out of a homestay at Nongriat village in Meghalaya's East Khasi Hills district during their honeymoon. Also read | Those behind Indore tourist's murder will be brought to book: Meghalaya CM On June 2, Raja's body was found in a deep gorge near a waterfall in Sohra area, some 20 kilometres away from the homestay. However, the Meghalaya police, which registered a murder case after Raja's body was found, are yet to get any clues about Sonam's whereabouts. In a post on X, CM Yadav said, "Madhya Pradesh stands firmly with the family of Smt Sonam Raghuvanshi in this hour of crisis." "I have discussed the matter with the Chief Minister of Meghalaya. Senior police officials from Madhya Pradesh are in constant touch with authorities in Meghalaya. I have requested Hon'ble Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah to order a CBI probe into the incident," he said. All possible efforts were being made to ensure the safe return of Sonam Raghuvanshi, the CM added. On Friday, the woman's family members urged the Union government to hand over the case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) after expressing dissatisfaction with the probe of the north eastern State's police.
