Father-daughter duo from Feeding Hills share their passion of music

FEEDING HILLS, Mass. (WWLP) – A dad and his daughter from Feeding Hills are sharing their passion ahead of Father's Day. This local father and daughter are singers, songwriters, and guitarists. But it all started when Dad realized that twins on the way meant more time around family. 'I don't know what I was thinking, but when Natalie and her identical twin were born in 1992, I quit my day job, so to speak, and became a full-time musician,' said Gary Jones. Girl Scouts donate nearly 14,000 boxes of cookies at Barnes Air National Guard Base 'Family is the best,' said Natalie Jones, Gary's daughter. 'I absolutely feel so blessed to be able to work with my dad every day.' A father-daughter duo living out their dream together, Gary and Natalie perform hits and classics alongside each other. Growing up, Natalie watched her dad perform, and just a few years into her social work career, she decided to make a shift. 'COVID really hit in 2020, and that is when my job shifted a lot,' Natalie said. 'And I was feeling burnt out, and Dad was like, 'Come join me, let's see.'' Gary says Natalie brought a contemporary style to the stage, a piece that he was missing. Both father and daughter have never taken a music class, but it's the passion that has guided them, even during disagreements. 'I think that the biggest issue that we sometimes have is who is going to sing the lead and who is going to sing the harmony,' Gary said. 'Like when he wants to play a song or add a song into the set list and I'm like really not feeling it,' Natalie added. From a young age, it's always been the twins, their dad, and music. 'My dad had to push his name out there and kind of scrape to get those calls in the very beginning,' Natalie said. 'He just let me swoop in and he took me under his wing as a mentor.' Now Natalie and Gary say you would be surprised how easy it is to perform together. The family dynamic allows their voices to blend well, and they say not to be afraid to take that leap of faith if you aren't doing what you love.
