This village in Cornwall has been named in Conde Nast Traveller's list of the best seaside places in England in 2025, known for its stunning harbour and sandy beach
A picturesque Cornish seaside village has been recognised as one of the best in the country. The South West is a popular holiday destination, known for its charming towns and breathtaking coastlines.
Tucked away in the western part of Cornwall, about three miles from Penzance, lies the historic fishing village of Mousehole. It has been included in Conde Nast Traveller's list of the top seaside spots in England for 2025. The guide characterised Mousehole as "one of the county's most picturesque fishing villages" and an ideal place to "escape the hustle and bustle of city life".

Mousehole is renowned for its beautiful harbour and sandy beach. The village also boasts a variety of galleries, gift shops and eateries. Over the years, the area has managed to retain much of its unique and historic charm. The streets are adorned with traditional buildings, some of which date back to the 13th century, reports Cornwall Live.

For those who enjoy walking, the coastal walk from Mousehole to Lamorna offers stunning views of the coastline. Parts of the route involve climbing over large granite boulders, so walkers should come prepared. Visit Cornwall stated: "Mousehole is considered one of Cornwall's prettiest fishing villages, with two small sandy beaches inside its harbour quays, only accessible at low tide, and a long pebble beach running east toward Penlee Point.
"For keen swimmers, there's the Mousehole Rock Pool; a natural tidal pool and the perfect spot for a wild sea swim and a chance to spot seals out in the bay. There's an assortment of car parks in and around the harbour, free parking on the road coming into the village, and a good bus service from Penzance."
The village has garnered numerous favourable reviews on TripAdvisor, with visitors praising its picturesque scenery and abundance of activities. Reviewers have described it as "very beautiful" and a "lovely little harbour" with a small sandy beach that's safe for children to play on.
One reviewer, Lampwicke, commented: "A lovely little harbour with small sandy beach. Safe for children to play. Very picturesque with little cottages surrounding it."
SailingElleray added: "Mousehole is a very beautiful place. You can snap off photos all day and never capture all of its quirkiness, quaintness and sheer beauty."
Divebubbles24 wrote: "A lovely quaint little harbour with some nice views, shops and beach area. Seals come up to the waters edge. Worth a visit." While Rakehoe added: "Mousehole is a lovely village on the coast around from Penzance. Busy harbour and lots to see and do. Highly recommend this one."

'I went to Benidorm on holiday and couldn't believe cost of a pint'

A man, who is known as the Benidorm Fanatic to his TikTok followers, recently headed to the popular holiday destination and was left gobsmacked by the price of a drink A Brit was gobsmacked by the cost of a pint in Benidorm, despite being a frequent visitor to Spain. Known amongst his TikTok followers as the Benidorm Fanatic, he recounts his visit to Uncle Ron's, a bar renowned for its affordably priced pints, where he found himself pleasantly surprised by just how much bang he got for his buck. In his popular video, he raves: "I tell you what, I believe it's actually a very, very nice pint as well, so it comes to the equivalent of about 84p in British money. Let's go and try it out, shall we? Let's give it a try." ‌ Upon reaching the bar, he continued: "So there you go, I'll give you a euro, a €1 pint, and I'll take that. Let's try this €1 pint. Look at that - a nice, clean, cold pint. It's got a nice, good head on it - let's try it." ‌ He enthusiastically shared his verdict, saying: "That is actually one of the best pints I've had in one of the popular bars. That is actually one of the best pints I've had in Benidorm to be honest with you. €1, I'll drink them all day." The video quickly gained traction, prompting viewers to share their impressions and even their own tales of Benidorm adventures. Among the comments, one user exclaimed: "Wow," while another who'd been there on holiday exclaimed: "I was there last week." Someone else who'd be there said: "Lovely pint. Had many." Whil a fellow TikToker simply added: "Bargain." Uncle Ron's, a hit with British holidaymakers in Benidorm, is famed for its budget-friendly tipples and hearty meals. ‌ TripAdvisor reviews boast of the establishment's offerings from breakfast through to dinner, with an average rating of 3.8 out of 5 on the platform, suggesting it's a must-visit for those seeking a decent meal and drinks while away. In the review section, one visitor commented: "Had a fantastic breakfast at Ron's today. Lovely English produce. Great service. Brilliant staff. "A massive group came in, but they were serviced promptly. Don't know how they manage with so few staff." ‌ Another shared their experience: "Last day we visited for some lunch before heading to airport. Left full, which is always a good thing. In all my times of going here, never left unhappy at the service nor the food - always really good." A third reviewer added: "We went many times during our two-week holiday. The staff are friendly and extremely hard working day and night. "Cheapest drinks you will find in town and food to suit everyone (daily deal only 6 euros). It's not a stylish 5* restaurant but then you wouldn't expect it. "For drinks just go to the bar like a normal bar. Always busy Sunday and Friday, so expect to book if you want a Sunday lunch. Would we go again? Certainly would!"

Spanish holiday hotspot hotel is accused of having the 'worst breakfast in Europe' as diner urges tourists to 'avoid' the 'bad tasting' eatery

One of Spain 's holiday hotspot hotels has been flagged by tourists as having the 'worst breakfast in Europe'. Hotel Atlántico, a four-star hotel nestled in the heart of Madrid, has received scathing reviews from diners on TripAdvisor. 'The rooms are nice and comfortable. Sadly that's where it ends,' one dissatisfied guest wrote. As well as complaining about lack of sleep due to hearing 'every creak and step in this place', the guest who stayed in Hotel Atlántico in May 2025, had strong feelings about the 'bad tasting' breakfast. 'The breakfast is the worst I have come across in all of Europe,' they warned. 'Do not have it.' Describing the food in more detail, a second guest wrote: 'My only complaint is the poor quality of the breakfast experience; self-service machine coffee, wet slices of ham, tasteless slices of plastic cheese and slightly stale bread one morning. 'One member of staff only each day and they couldn't keep up with everything that needed doing.' 'Plenty of Cava though,' they added, 'so not all bad.' Other 'disappointed' reviews pointed to the 'poor selection' at breakfast and its 'weird layout configuration'. More diplomatic TripAdvisor users suggested skipping the substandard breakfast entirely. Instead, they recommend eating at one of the many cafes available a stone's throw away from the hotel on La Gran Via - one of Madrid's most popular shopping areas. There were a range of other opinions on the breakfast with one guest describing it as 'very good' while Mick from Ayrshire in South West Scotland labelling it as 'ok'. 'The lack of chopped fruit and plain yogurt limited out healthy options compared with hotels on our travels,' Mick, who stayed at the hotel with his family in September 2024, penned. 'Otherwise all the staff were friendly and helpful and I would recommend this hotel if you want a central venue in Madrid,' he added. Despite mixed feedback, Hotel Atlántico advertises itself as having an 'excellent breakfast according to clients' on its website. A double room at the central hotel will set punters back around £250 for one night. Breakfast costs an additional £10. Reviews of the hotel breakfast are mixed with one disgruntled guest describing it as the 'worst I have come across in all of Europe' while others said it was 'OK' or 'very good' Eva Garcia, Hotel Atlántico's Assistant Director, responded to one user's scathing review of the breakfast buffet by 'apologising for not exceeding your expectations'. 'We have a buffet style breakfast with hot and cold meals (different types of eggs, sausages, bacon, cheese, cured ham, ham, turkey, cakes, jam, honey, yogurts, different types of bread, fruits, vegetables, coffees and juices, and also Cava),' she wrote. 'We strive to ensure each and every guest experience is satisfying. The rate is 12 euros. Please consider the value for money.'
