Body recovered at Lake Lanier confirmed as missing kayaker Dustin Valencia
The body found Friday at Lake Lanier is Dustin Valencia, 43, of Cumming, Forsyth County Sheriff's Office confirmed Monday morning.
Authorities recovered the body Friday during a search of the cove where Valencia paddled from, and where the kayak and paddle were found.
Stacie Miller, the public information officer, said the major crimes unit of the sheriff's office is continuing to investigate the case. No additional information is available.

Valencia's wife reported him missing Wednesday after he left home and didn't arrive to pick up their children at school.
Authorities found his Honda Accord in the Lakeside Park parking lot.

Someone discovered Valencia's kayak the same day he disappeared and returned it to a lost and found. Once he saw the news reports Thursday evening, he reported what he found to the authorities.

Georgia man drowns after caught in Gulf rip current
Authorities in Florida said a 47-year-old Georgia man died Sunday after drowning in the Gulf of Mexico. The Gulf County Sheriff's Office said on social media that Timothy Franklin was swimming with a family member when he got caught in a rip current. They found emergency personnel from Gulf County EMS and South Gulf Fire Rescue engaged in life-saving efforts that ultimately proved unsuccessful. The Gulf County Sheriff's Office said 'it is grateful for the numerous members of the community that have wrapped themselves around the Franklin family to provide support during this incredibly difficult time. This is a heartbreaking incident, and the family remains in our thoughts and prayers.' A GoFundMe has been started on the family's behalf, according to media reports. Driver pulls out knife on couple driving too slow in Kennesaw neighborhood, police say
Ten miles below the speed limit: that is what one driver told Kennesaw police drove him to pull a knife during a road rage incident in the Legacy Park community. [DOWNLOAD: Free WSB-TV News app for alerts as news breaks] 'He said the reason why he was agitated was because the driver was going 25 miles per hour in a 35 mph zone,' explained Ofc. David Buchanan about why 55-year-old Giancarlo Russo is accused of pulling a knife on his neighbors during a road rage incident. It happened in Kennesaw in the Legacy Park neighborhood. A husband and wife got to a stop sign to find the driver, Russo, behind them was outraged, when he blocked their car with his own. 'The offender pulled in front of them and blocked them, got out of his car, he was holding a knife and was threatening towards them,' Buchanan told Channel 2's Candace McCowan. 'He was trying to get the male driver out of the vehicle to instigate some type of altercation or fight. The victim stayed in the car, got away safely, and called us.'
