Chinese premier returns to Beijing after official visit to Indonesia, ASEAN-China-GCC summit in Malaysia
BEIJING, May 28 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Premier Li Qiang returned to Beijing on Wednesday aboard a chartered plane after paying an official visit to Indonesia and attending the ASEAN (the Association of Southeast Asian Nations)-China-GCC (the Gulf Cooperation Council) Summit in Malaysia.
Li was seen off from the airport by Malaysian Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook, Chinese Ambassador to Malaysia Ouyang Yujing and Chinese Ambassador to ASEAN Hou Yanqi.

MFL introduces tech to curb reckless club spending in M-League
PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian Football League (MFL) have turned to technology to tackle reckless club spending — installing software designed to lock team budgets the moment they hit their financial limits. The system is part of the MFL's push to enforce Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations for the 2025-2026 season, capping salary spending at 80 per cent of a club's annual budget. MFL president Datuk Ab Ghani Hassan said the new software will track club expenses in real-time and automatically restrict further spending once the ceiling is reached. "The MFL has invested in software that blocks teams from going beyond their declared budgets. Declaring finances is now important," said Ab Ghani at a press conference at Wisma FAM on Friday. He added that all M-League clubs have been extensively educated on systematic spending, particularly on curbing the obsession with foreign signings that often leaves clubs in financial distress. The FFP measures come amid growing discontent among fans over the state of Malaysian football. In a show of solidarity, both the FA of Malaysia (FAM) and MFL have vowed to revive the domestic game and fully support Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim's football reform agenda. FAM president Datuk Joehari Ayub said a resolution backing the Johor Regent — also the owner of Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) — has been unanimously adopted by state FAs and club representatives. "We met with the FAs and clubs and agreed to support Tunku Ismail's vision to fix Malaysian football," said Joehari. "We'll hold regular discussions to ensure that the governing bodies and clubs move forward together." Despite the proactive measures, uncertainty still hangs over the M-League and fans are growing restless. But for now, the football authorities are banking on stricter regulations and smarter tools to bring the game back on track.

PUTRAJAYA, May 30 (Bernama) -- Malaysia, as ASEAN Chair in 2025, has pledged to take decisive action against transnational job scam syndicates, placing the issue at the forefront of its regional agenda. Malaysia's Foreign Ministry, Wisma Putra, in a statement on Friday said it takes the issue of job scam syndicates seriously. The ministry expressed its sincere appreciation to the Malaysia International Humanitarian Organisation (MHO) as well as other non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and members of the media, for their continued efforts in drawing attention to the plight of Malaysians who have fallen victim to job scam syndicates across the region. 'Malaysia remains fully committed to working closely with ASEAN counterparts and all relevant stakeholders, including civil society, to strengthen preventive measures, enhance regional collaboration, and ensure protection for all victims,' added the statement. The Foreign Ministry said it has taken concrete steps to raise the matter with fellow ASEAN Member States, including at the ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Retreat in Langkawi in January and the 29th ASEAN Political-Security Community (APSC) Council Meeting held in conjunction with the 46th ASEAN Summit earlier this week. At the ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Retreat held in Langkawi in January, ministers reaffirmed their joint commitment to addressing transnational crimes, including people smuggling, trafficking in persons, drug trafficking, cybercrime, money laundering, and the rising threat of online scams. During the 29th ASEAN Political-Security Community (APSC) Council Meeting, held in conjunction with the 46th ASEAN Summit, Malaysia stressed the urgent need for decisive regional action in tackling cross-border crimes. As a result, ASEAN ministers agreed to review the ASEAN Plan of Action to Combat Transnational Crime (2016-2025) to strengthen regional coordination and ensure that its successor documents address emerging and evolving criminal threats. In the 46th ASEAN Summit, ASEAN leaders also expressed strong determination to intensify cooperation under the ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Transnational Crime (AMMTC), with an emphasis on law enforcement collaboration to combat online scams and trafficking in persons.
