The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has summoned two individuals for questioning on Monday in connection with the arrest of CRPF assistant sub-inspector Moti Ram Jat, who was taken into custody in Delhi this week on charges of espionage.
The NIA conducted raids at three locations in Kolkata—a shop in Alipore, a travel agency in Mominpur, and a hotel in Topsia—as part of its ongoing investigation.
Moti Ram Jat, previously posted with a CRPF battalion in Pahalgam, was transferred to Delhi five days before the April 22 terror attack at the popular tourist destination in Jammu and Kashmir. He is accused of sharing classified national security information with Pakistani Intelligence Operatives (PIOs) in exchange for money.
Sources told News18 that one raid focused on the travel agency's office, where suspicious money transfers may have occurred. Investigators believe three separate transactions might have taken place from this location, one on April 3, 2024. Due to the possible link to terror financing, the agency's owner, Masood Alam, has been summoned for questioning on Monday. Masood has confirmed the summons.
Separately, Mohammad Wakil was brought in for questioning from Topsia by the NIA. Sources revealed that documents suspected of being shared with Pakistani operatives via WhatsApp were investigated, and Wakil was interrogated and later released.
The NIA is now focusing on uncovering the full network involved in the information exchange with Pakistani handlers as the investigation continues.

Maharashtra ATS conducting massive raids in Padgha over suspected terror planning activities
The Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), along with the Thane Rural police, is conducting massive searches at various households in the Padgha area near Bhiwandi Monday in connection with suspected terror planning activities, sources said. The raids are being carried out by over 250 police personnel, including 20 ATS teams, at 15 places based on special intelligence received recently, the sources told The Indian Express. The epicentre of the raids, ATS sources said, is the house of terror suspect Saquib Nachan, who the NIA had claimed to be the head of the Maharashtra module of ISIS. Who is Nachan? Having been booked in over a dozen terror-related cases, Saquib Nachan has been under the radar of security agencies since the 1990s. He was convicted twice – once by the Supreme Court in 1997 for planning terror attacks in India in the early 1990s along with Khalistani terrorists. In 2016, he was convicted again by a court in Mumbai for 10 years under the Arms Act after being booked in the 2002-03 terror blasts in Mumbai. He served both sentences and was released in 2017. The National Investigation Agency (NIA), which had raided Padgha in December 2023 among other places in Maharashtra and arrested 15 people, has previously claimed that Nachan was head of the state ISIS module which was planning to carry out destructive and violent activities in the country. Huge amounts of unaccounted cash, firearms, sharp-edged weapons, incriminating documents, smartphones and other digital devices were seized during the December 2023 raids. According to the NIA, Nachan administered the 'bayath' or oath of allegiance to the people joining the proscribed organisation. His son Shamil Nachan was also arrested by the agency in Maharashtra in an ISIS module-related terror case. Why Padgha According to ATS sources, Padgha has in recent years been a hub of terror suspects. As per anti-terrorism agencies, the Maharashtra ISIS module had self-declared the village of Padgha as a 'liberated zone' and as 'Al Sham'. Terror suspects allegedly motivated impressionable Muslim youth to relocate to Padgha to strengthen their base there. The last time NIA had raided Padgha and the Borivali area nearby, they had found that all members of the ISIS Maharashtra module were operating from Padgha-Borivali, where they had hatched a conspiracy to spread terror and carry out acts of violence across India. 'Pursuing the path of violent jihad, khilafat, etc, the accused had aimed to disturb the peace and communal harmony of the country and to wage a war against the Government of India,' the central agency had previously stated. ISIS, a global terror organisation, has been spreading its network in India by establishing localized modules and cells in various states.

Contribute now New Delhi: An important witness in the case pertaining to the murder of journalist-activist Gauri Lankesh has complained to the special court about receiving threats from people who told him not to identify the accused. The witness, a resident of Belagavi received the threats over a phone call on May 28 and submitted a written complaint on the same day, reported Deccan Herald. 'The witness received a phone call where he was threatened not to identify the accused. He filed a complaint before the court. Though he was disturbed and upset, he testified before the court on Thursday,' a source told the newspaper. A copy of the complaint and a memo by the special public prosecutor were submitted to the court. The witness who has been threatened was crucial in identifying the accused and the place where the alleged conspiracy was hatched to murder Lankesh. Well-known journalist and editor Lankesh, a household name for readers in Karnataka because of her sharp writing and bold views, was shot dead at her residence in Bengaluru late on September 5, 2017. She was editor of the weekly Lankesh Patrike – a magazine that has been described as an 'anti-establishment' publication – and had come under attack for her views against the communal politics of the Sangh parivar in Karnataka. Mohali surgeon duped in online trading scam, loses Rs 91 lakh; Cyber Cell launches probe
A senior surgeon working at a renowned hospital in Mohali has fallen victim to a large-scale online trading scam. According to the complaint filed with the Punjab State Cyber Crime Cell, the doctor was defrauded of approximately Rs 91 lakh by unidentified cyber fraudsters. As per the information shared with the Cyber Crime Police Station, the doctor received an email from a Hyderabad-based company claiming to be S&W Aubrey Capital Management Investment Funds. Through this email communication, he was added to a WhatsApp group called MK-S&W India VIP-67080. The members of the group assured him of daily profits if he invested in their trading platform. From February 19, 2025, to the last week of May, the doctor transferred funds through various channels such as UPI, RTGS, and bank transfers. The money was sent to HDFC Bank, Bandhan Bank, and Bank of Baroda accounts. In total, nine major transactions amounting to nearly Rs 91 lakh were made. The doctor stated that when he attempted to withdraw his profits, his account was deleted, and all communication with the fraudsters was cut off. Based on the complaint and supporting evidence, the police have registered a case against unknown individuals under sections 318(4) and 61(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, and sections 66(C) and 66(D) of the Information Technology Act, 2000. The Cyber Crime Cell has initiated a detailed investigation and issued a public warning to remain cautious of unknown investment platforms. The matter is being investigated thoroughly, and strict legal action will be taken against the culprits, said an official from the Cyber Crime Cell.
