Threat against Hall County high school found to be not credible
Investigators with the Hall County Sheriff's Office are investigating a threat against the lives of students and staff at Chestatee High School that ended up not being credible.
Following a threatening call just after 2 p.m. Monday, the school on Sardis Road was placed on an interior lockdown while law enforcement searched the campus.
Dozens of uniformed members of the Hall County Sheriff's Office, including four K9 teams, responded to search the campus.
After the parking lot and the outside perimeter of the school were cleared and deemed safe, students were removed from the buildings.
Fortunately, nothing suspicious was found during the search.
The investigation is ongoing as investigators work to determine who made the call.
No one was injured during the incident.

‘That's evil': Family with jailed loved one says they lost $400 to bail scam
A family is warning people about a scam that preys on the excitement of a loved one being released from jail. But in their case, there was no happy reunion. Channel 2's Tom Jones spoke to one family that was excited their loved one was coming home and quickly forked over hundreds of dollars to someone who said they worked at the jail. It was a scam. [DOWNLOAD: Free WSB-TV News app for alerts as news breaks] 'That's evil, because we been waiting on my brother to come home almost three years,' Stephanie Rushing said. Rushing thought her and her families' dreams had come true and her brother was going to be released from the Clayton County jail that night. That's what a sergeant at the jail told them. 'And if we paid the 400 dollars he could get out,' she said. Of course, the family immediately paid the so-called sergeant at the jail. 'We paid him Cash App,' Rushing said. Then, their loved one called them. They told him he was being released. He knew nothing about it. 'So then he went to talk to the people at the desk, and they told him that we have been scammed,' Rushing said. This type of scam is happening at jails around the metro area. Someone in Paulding County emailed Channel 2 Action News, saying it happened to them. 'Please note that this is a scam. No such program exists,' Magistrate Court Judge Latrevia Kates-Johnson said from the bench recently. Rushing's family found that out after forking over $400,money they didn't have to throw away. Rushing said people can be so cruel. 'So you're tugging on somebody's heartstrings about their loved ones coming home. And knowing its just a scam,' she said. Rushing says after the scam call from the jail, she got a call from someone saying they were with a bonding company. She called the bonding company, and they told her it was a scam. Rushing thinks it has to be someone from the jail scamming people since the scammer called right after her brother was booked. ‘He's just out there': Grandmother very concerned about Clayton State student missing from hospital
A grandmother says she is worried sick after her grandson ran out of local hospital and hasn't been seen since. The Clayton State University student was there for a mental health evaluation. Kathy Traylor said she is not well, and she wants the public's help finding him. 'I haven't eaten. He's just out there,' she told Channel 2s Tom Jones, fighting back tears. Traylor says she desperately wants to find her 19-year-old grandson, Eric Pitts Jr. RELATED STORY: Clayton Co. 19-year-old missing after walking away from hospital in 'delusional state,' police say 'He might hurt himself or somebody might hurt him. I don't know 'cause he's out of his mind,' she said. Pitts hasn't been seen since police say he was taken to Southern Regional hospital early Wednesday for a mental health evaluation. Traylor says a nurse who was with him explained what happened when he got there. 'She said he said he had to use the bathroom. And as he was walking towards the bathroom, he jetted out the double doors,' she said. He had on green hospital scrubs and no shoes. This all began after Traylor says she learned her grandson exhibited erratic behavior in his campus dorm. She called campus counselors and police, and they went to his room. Traylor says a counselor told her what was going to happen next. 'She said Eric is going under 1013 so we can go ahead and find out what's going on,' she said. Traylor said she was told he was going to a mental health facility. She says she was surprised to find out he was at Southern Regional. 'They should have said Southern Regional. Then I could have went. So they wasn't communicating,' Traylor said. She said she just wants her grandson home safe and sound. 'I don't know what's going on with my baby. I don't know,' Traylor said. She says she raised her grandson and noticed him starting to change a few months ago. Clayton County police are asking anyone who sees him or know where he is to contact them. Massive police presence at DeKalb County apartment complex
A large number of police units have responded to an apartment complex in DeKalb County on Friday afternoon. Officers were called to an apartment complex on Columbia Drive just off Interstate 20 around 3 p.m. on Friday. A SUV also appears to have hopped onto the curb in the parking lot. Police have not yet confirmed what led to the response.
