Report: Spurs C Victor Wembanyama to return by training camp
May 27 - San Antonio Spurs All-Star center Victor Wembanyama is expected to return to the court by the start of training camp, ESPN reported on Tuesday.
Wembanyama missed the last two months of this season due to a deep vein thrombosis in his right shoulder. Thrombosis occurs when blood turns into clumps inside a blood vessel, creating a blood clot.
While that sounds scary, ESPN reported that the 21-year-old Frenchman is expected to be a full-go heading into next season.
Wembanyama averaged 24.3 points, 11.0 rebounds, 3.7 assists and an NBA-leading 3.8 blocked shots in 46 starts this season.
Named the unanimous NBA Rookie of the Year last season in 2023-24, the 7-foot-3 Wembanyama competed in his first All-Star Game in 2024-25.
The Spurs selected Wembanyama first overall in the 2023 NBA Draft. In parts of two seasons, he is averaging 22.5 points, 10.8 rebounds, 3.8 assists, 1.2 steals and 3.7 blocks in 117 games (all starts). He also has made 270 3-pointers.

Mia Sara was a huge movie star in the 1980s. The exotic-looking actress made her big-screen debut opposite Tom Cruise in the fantasy unicorn-seeking adventure Legend in 1985. Upon its release, Ferris Bueller's Day Off became a thunderous box office success and remains one of the best-loved high school comedies to emerge from Hollywood. Shortly after the movie came out, Mia showered praise on both Cruise and Matthew Broderick, whom she noted 'had much more experience' than she did. Sleep problem that affects 10million people in UK could trigger world's deadliest cancer, first-of-its-kind study warns
HEAVY snorers could be at risk of the world's deadliest cancer, a shock new study has revealed. Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) has previously been linked to an increased risk of certain cancers. 1 Now, in a world-first trial, a "significant" link has been found between the condition and lung cancer. US researchers, who assessed the health records of more than 2.4 million adults, say they're not exactly sure why it raises the risk. But they believe it could be due to a lack of oxygen people with the condition get during the night - or lifestyle factors such as smoking and obesity. The findings were presented at the American Society of Clinical Oncology conference in Chicago. Scientists present urged policymakers to consider screening those with OSA for the cancer, and to tackle the condition early, soon after diagnosis. Globally, an estimated 936 million adults aged 30-69 years are affected by OSA. The condition occurs when the muscles in the throat relax too much during sleep, causing the airway to narrow or close, interrupting breathing. This can happen due to several factors, including obesity, a large neck or collar size, structural abnormalities like a small lower jaw or a large tongue, and other medical conditions. Common symptoms include breathing stopping and starting, making gasping, snorting or choking noises, waking up a lot, and loud snoring, says the NHS. According to the Sleep Apnoea Trust, as many as 10 million people in the UK suffer from OSA – with up to four million of these suffering either severely or moderately - although it's considered to be underdiagnosed. I'm a doctor and these 5 changes could be a sign of deadly lung cancer It's important to note while snoring is a common symptom of OSA, it's not a guaranteed sign. In the study, researchers at Marshall University in West Virginia tracked lung cancer diagnoses and separated those diagnosed with OSA and those without. After accounting for different influential factors, such as age, people with OSA were found to be 1.21 times more likely to develop lung cancer compared to those without the sleep disorder. Dr Jowan Al-Nusair, study co-author and physician at Marshall University told MailOnline it was "one of the first statistically significant studies" to prove a link between the condition and lung cancer. She added: "While further studies are definitely now needed to investigate just how the significant the link truly is, this suggests OSA may be a preventable risk factor for lung cancer. "We should be more closely monitoring patients with OSA. Patients would definitely benefit from screening and early intervention to combat OSA. "Additional studies are essential to understand exactly why OSA may increase this risk. "We really hope this will pave the way for future research and testing." Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer deaths worldwide. In the UK, around 35,000 people die from lung cancer each year. The primary cause of lung cancer is tobacco smoke, accounting for the vast majority of cases. But lung cancer cases are now rising among young people who have never smoked, with some experts attributing this to factors like air pollution. Do you have obstructive sleep apnoea? It may help to ask someone to stay with you while you sleep so they can check for the symptoms. If a GP thinks you might have sleep apnoea, they may refer you to a specialist sleep clinic for tests. Transgender athlete, 17, tells critics to ‘get a life' as they are booed after winning girl's state track race
TRANSGENDER athlete Veronica Garcia has told their detractors to "get a life" after being booed at a state track championship in Washington. The 17-year-old blew away their 400m rivals by a whole second and played a big role in their East Valley of Spokane team-mates winning the 4x100m relay race. For the second year in a row, Garcia, the first transgender athlete in the state of Washington to win a track title, was heckled by track goers. The Seattle Times claims scores of attendees booed when Garcia - who is permitted to compete against biological females as students in Washington state can participate in sports based on their gender identity - stood on the podium after cheering loudly for their counterparts. That wasn't the only backlash Garcia had to deal with as a man wearing a 'Save women's sports' t-shirt - shouted: "Let go, girls!" The man, who made his feelings known during the warm-up, also shouted: "Girls' race!" Garcia fully "expected" to be hounded given the reception they received last year. But unlike last year, they had a defiant message for the minority in attendance who targeted them. Garcia said: "It maybe didn't have their intended effect. "It made me angry, but not angry as in, I wanted to give up, but angry as in, I'm going to push. 2 "I'm going to put this in the most PG-13 way, I'm just going to say it's a damn shame they don't have anything else better to do. "I hope they get a life. But oh well. It just shows who they are as people." Garcia could care less about her critics, insisting: "I'm really proud of myself. "I did what I came to do, and that's good enough for me." Garcia pipped Lauren Matthew to victory in the 400m, although their rival insisted they were the "real champion" with a homemade sign. Garcia also had to endure a rival school wearing tees which read 'Keep Women's Sports Female' before and after the 4x400m relay.
