Orange expands satellite connectivity with Eutelsat OneWeb deal
The new multi-year agreement builds on long-standing relationship between the two companies. Eutelsat Group and global telecom leader Orange have signed a new agreement that will see Orange enhance its low Earth orbit (LEO) satellite communications capabilities through access to Eutelsats OneWeb constellation. Etihad Airways and STARLUX Airlines sign strategic codeshare partnership
Post Views: 61 Etihad Airways has signed a strategic codeshare agreement with Taipei-based STARLUX Airlines, expanding customer access to Northeast Asia and strengthening Abu Dhabi's position as a gateway between East and West. The partnership, announced at the International Air Transport Association Annual General Meeting in New Delhi, enables Etihad customers to connect seamlessly to key Japanese cities including Nagoya, Sapporo, and Fukuoka via Taipei, whilst offering STARLUX passengers direct access to Etihad's European network through Abu Dhabi. Etihad will launch daily flights between Abu Dhabi and Taipei on 7 September 2025, operated by Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft. The new route creates the foundation for the codeshare partnership, positioning Taipei as a gateway for Etihad's expansion into Northeast Asia. Etihad customers booking through and the airline's mobile app will benefit from streamlined travel with single-ticket bookings, coordinated check-in processes, and automatic baggage transfers to final destinations across STARLUX's Asia-Pacific network. The agreement also opens new pathways for STARLUX passengers to reach European destinations including Prague, Madrid, and Barcelona via Abu Dhabi, positioning the emirate as an attractive transit hub for Asian travellers bound for Europe. Both airlines will launch joint marketing initiatives in Taiwan and establish a reciprocal frequent flyer programme by year-end, allowing Etihad Guest members to earn and redeem miles across both networks. Beijing proposes leasing export of rare earths to EU
7 June 2025 14:35 Beijing (AFP)China has proposed establishing a 'green channel' to ease the export of rare earths to the European Union, the commerce ministry said Saturday, after Beijing restricted their sale has since April required licenses to export these strategic materials from China, which accounts for more than 60 percent of rare earth mining production and 92 percent of global refined output, according to the International Energy metals are used in a wide variety of products, including electric car batteries, and there has been criticism from industries about the way China's licenses have been issued.'Export control on rare earths and other items is an international practice,' the commerce ministry said in a statement.'China attaches great importance to Europe's concerns and is willing to establish a green channel for eligible applications, fast track the examination and approval, and instruct the working level to maintain timely communication on this,' a ministry statement comments were attributed to China's Commerce Minister Wang Wentao, who met Tuesday with EU trade commissioner Maros the bilateral talks, Wang said he hoped the bloc would turn 'take reciprocal action, adopt effective measures to facilitate, safeguard, and promote compliant trade of high-tech products with China,' according to the commerce two officials also discussed imports by European countries of Chinese electric vehicles, which the EU has hit with levies over allegedly unfair subsidies from Beijing.'The negotiation on the price commitment of electric vehicles between China and Europe has entered the final stage, but both sides still need to make efforts,' the commerce ministry said. The discussions will be followed by China hosting a summit with the EU next month, 50 years since Beijing and Brussels established diplomatic relations.
