Two out of three LeT terrorists identified in Shopian encounter linked to past attacks
Shopian (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], May 13, 2025 (ANI): Three terrorist with affliation to the Lashkar-e-Taiba were killed in an encounter in Shopian, South Kashmir on Tuesday. The confirmation of the identification of two out of three Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT)-affiliated terrorists has been made, sources told ANI.
Three of the terrorists were killed in the Shukroo forest area of Keller in the Shopian district.
According to sources, one of the terrorists was identified as Shahid Kuttay, son of Mohd Yousuf Kuttay and a resident of Chotipora Heerpora in Shopian.
He was a Category A, LeT operative who was involved in the firing incident at the Danish Resort in Srinagar on April 8, 2024, in which two German tourists and one driver were injured. He joined the terror outfit on March 8, 2023.
Kuttay was involved in the killing of a BJP Sarpanch at Heerpora on May 18, 2024 and was suspect involved in the killing of Territorial Army Personnel at Behibagh in Kulgam on February 3, 2025.
The other identified terrorist was Adnan Shafi Dar, son of Mohd Shafi Dar, who was a resident of Wanduna Melhora in Shopian. He joined the terror outfit on October 18, 2024 and was a category C LeT operative. He was involved in the killing of non-local labourers at Wachi in Shopian on October 18, 2024.
However, the identity of the last terrorist is yet to be confirmed.
According to the source, the terrorists were encountered around 8:00 am today following specific intelligence related to terrorists hiding in the Shukroo forest area of Keller.
This came following a massive cordon-and-search operation launched in the forests of Kellar after receiving specific input about the presence of some terrorists in the region, as per a top police official.
Meanwhile, posters were seen in different parts of Pulwama District, announcing Rs 20 lakh reward for information on terrorists involved in the Pahalgam terror attack.
Earlier, the Jammu and Kashmir Police released sketches and identities of three terrorists said to be involved in the terror attack in Pahalgam.
All three terrorists are affiliated with the Lashkar-e-Taiba and a bounty of Rs 20 lakh for each of the three terrorists was announced by the Police.
The terror operatives were identified as Hussain Thoker, a native of Anantnag; Ali Bhai, also known as Talha Bhai; and Hasim Musa, also known as Suleiman. Of the three LeT operatives, Musa and Talha are suspected to be Pakistani terrorists, while Thokar is a Kashmiri local.
The operation comes on the heels of India achieving stupendous success in Operation Sindoor, where precision strikes saw the elimination of nearly 100 terror operatives at key bases in Pakistan. Among the targets were Bhawalpur, the Headquarters of the Jaish and Muridke, a key training base of the Lashkar. (ANI)

Former finance staff held for 51L loan fraud
1 2 Pune: A 35-year-old finance manager working with a private company was shocked after receiving a notice from a private bank about EMI payment default on a loan of Rs 18 lakh, which he never applied for. When he checked with the bank, it was found that someone obtained the loan from the bank by preparing fake documents in the victim's name in October last year. He approached the Pimpri Chinchwad police and lodged a complaint. A team of Pimpri Chinchwad cyber police took action and traced Yuvraj Tivade (41) of Pimple Saudagar, who obtained the loan using the finance manager's name. "Investigations revealed that Tivade obtained a loan of Rs 51 lakh using fake documents. We also found loan applications of 20 people with him, which he prepared using fake documents," senior police inspector Ravikiran Nale of the Pimpri Chinchwad cyber police told TOI. He said that Tivade took advantage of this and accessed PAN or other details from the data on the computers at the cyber cafes. "He then contacted customer care of UIDAI by posing as the PAN card holder and obtained the Aadhaar number connected to that card," he said. Swami said that by using the PAN and Aadhaar details of that particular person, he prepared fake documents required to get a personal loan. "By using this modus operandi, Tivade obtained loans collectively worth Rs 51 lakh in the names of three persons," Swami said. The officer said that in the case registered with the Chinchwad police, it was found that Tivade submitted the loan application without any photograph, the address was fake, and he also prepared a fake salary slip in the victim's name. "Tivade even opened an account in the victim's name, where the loan amount was disbursed," the officer said. Swami said that Tivade was handed over to the Chinchwad police for further investigations.

Delhi: Doctor assaulted by patient's relatives at Rohini hospital
New Delhi [India], June 10 (ANI): A female doctor at BSA Hospital in Rohini was allegedly assaulted by four to five female relatives of a patient, following the death of a newborn, police said on Tuesday. The incident occurred around 2 PM on Monday, June 9, when the doctor was heading from the Obstetrics and Gynaecology (OBGY) Outpatient Department to Ward No. 12 for her duties. According to police, she was intercepted in the corridor and physically assaulted by the women, who were attendants (relatives) of a patient named Soniya, a resident of Bakkarwala, who was admitted in Ward No. 11. The accused reportedly pulled the doctor's hair and attempted to tear her clothes. The doctor was later taken for treatment for injuries sustained during the attack, officials said. Preliminary investigations revealed that Soniya was admitted for delivery, and her newborn baby died on the morning of June 9. Enraged by the loss, the attendants allegedly attacked the doctor. A case has been registered at North Rohini police station under sections 221, 132, 121(1), 126(2), 76, and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with relevant provisions of the Medical Services Personnel and Medical Service Institutions (Prevention of Violence and Damage to Property) Act, 2008. All five accused women were caught after the incident. Later, they were released after furnishing bonds, the police added. Further details are awaited. (ANI)

Odisha Govt suspends Dharamgarh Sub-Collector caught taking Rs 10 lakh bribe
Bhubaneswar (Odisha) [India], June 10 (ANI): The Odisha government has suspended Dhiman Chakma, the Sub-Collector of Dharamgarh in Kalahandi district. Chakma was caught red-handed on Monday while allegedly accepting a Rs 10 lakh bribe from a local businessman. 'Governor of Odisha in exercise of powers conferred under sub-rule 3 of rule 3 of the All India Services (Discipline & Appeal) Rules, 1969 hereby places the said Shri Dhiman Chakma, IAS (RR-2021) under suspension with immediate effect,' said the order issued by the General Administration Department of the State government. 'It is further ordered that during the period of suspension, the headquarters of Shri Chakma, IAS is fixed at the GA&PG Department, Government of Odisha, Bhubaneswar, and he shall not leave the said headquarters without prior permission of the undersigned,' the order added. On Monday, Odisha Vigilance Department said that during further searches at Chakma's residence, an additional Rs 47 lakh in cash was recovered, and Investigations are ongoing. Chakma, the 2021-batch IAS officer, had allegedly demanded a total of Rs 20 lakh as a bribe, threatening to take action against the businessman's enterprise if the payment was not made, the Odisha Vigilance said in a release. Chakma called the complainant to his official residence in Dharamgarh, where he accepted Rs. 10 lakh as the first instalment, it said. The IAS officer was caught 'red-handed while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 10 lakh from a local businessman,' the department said in the release. The accused Sub Collector called the complainant to his official government residence at Dharamgarh, received the bribe amount, verified the 26 number of 100-note bundles of different denominations with both his hands, and kept the same inside his residence office table drawer. Both hand wash and table drawer wash gave a positive chemical reaction, the release said. A case has been registered under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (as amended in 2018). More details are awaited as the probe continues. (ANI)
