‘I lost everything;' Home torn apart in SWAT standoff
After a 12-hour standoff at their home Thursday, residents are working to process after their home was raided by SWAT.

The US Marshals say they can not share more information about an ongoing case, but they arrested a man after a 12-hour standoff outside a home on Main Street in Dayton.
'I woke up at 6 a.m. to the US Marshals at my door asking me to come out before they kick the door in,' a resident who did not give their name said. 'I left the door open for them to enter my home.'
He says police told him if the man they were looking for did not come out of the home, they would call in SWAT. He says police put him in a cruiser for six hours as the standoff unfolded.
He then returned to what was left of his home.
'It was totally destroyed,' he said. 'I lost everything in this standoff and now I've got to start from scratch.'
The property owner, Clara Wengling, says police were looking for the renter of one of her four units in the building. She says the destruction was unnecessary because she gave police keys to every unit.
'It was heartbreaking to watch them just destroy my property,' Wengling said.
Wengling says she recently remodeled, and has no idea where to start her repairs.
'I'm a single mother and I just, you know, I just bought the buildings to try to better myself,' Wengling said.
Wengling took in two of her tenants last night, one of them even borrowing her clothes because everything they had was ruined in the standoff.

Four homes were involved in the fire and two of them were ruled complete losses by fire crews. It will be a long road to rebuilding for the impacted families, including Larry Baker, who lost his entire house. 'We were at dinner in New Bremen, Ohio,' Baker said. 'Eleven of us, and we came back and the house was engulfed in flames as we drove up the drive.' Baker was stunned at the sight. 'We have no idea about how it started, what happened or anything,' Baker said. 'But we've lost everything.' Baker tried to go into the home to save their family dog. 'I tried to get our dog, didn't get it. Got singed. I was turned back by the heat and the smoke and some flames,' Baker said. Huntsville Fire Department Assistant Fire Chief Tom Weikart says no one was injured in the fires, but they struggled to put it out. 'It's a very limited access area. Fortunately, we were able to get up next to the lake and start drafting from the lake for a water supply,' Weikart said. Daniel and Rosemary Haemmerle had minimal fire damage to their home. 'We're very lucky. Very, very lucky,' Rosemary said. Daniel said it was like something out of a movie. 'The winds were coming real strong southwest, and so it just like fed it, like a blast furnace. So it's unbelievable,' Daniel said. 'I've never seen anything move so fast. So if you're ever in a fire, don't go in the house. Because you think you can, you can't.' Butts County deputies catch accused drug trafficker after he runs from traffic stop with meth
The Butts county Sheriff's Office said deputies caught a man accused of trafficking methamphetamine after a traffic stop. The drug bust happened Friday afternoon, when deputies from the Special Operations Division Crime Suppression Unit and the Narcotics Unit stopped a vehicle heading south on Interstate 75. The sheriff's office said that's when Michael Brown, Jr. took off running while 'carrying a large quantity of methamphetamines.' Several area jails to receive state funding for renovations, improvements
Several area jails will receive state funding for construction and renovation projects, according to a spokesperson from Ohio Governor Mike DeWine's office. [DOWNLOAD: Free WHIO-TV News app for alerts as news breaks] On Friday, DeWine and Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction Director Annette Chambers-Smith announced that 19 jails across the state will receive grants totaling about $50 million. The jails in Champaign, Darke, and Logan counties will all receive funding, according to the spokesperson. The Tri-County Jail, located in Champaign County, will receive approximately $46,568 to renovate a space for court hearing video services and a private space for mental health services. The Darke County Jail, which opened in 1983, will get approximately $136,809 to conduct a needs assessment and feasibility study to determine the need for a new jail. The Logan County Jail will receive $549,012 to improve HVAC, mechanical, and plumbing systems. The funding will also help renovate the intake, booking, and medical areas of the building. 'This funding will not only support safer environments for those living and working in our local jails, but it will also help prepare inmates for release by creating improved spaces for workforce development, educational opportunities, and other programming,' DeWine said.
