Over/Under: 10.5 Wins for Penn State Nittany Lions in 2025
The Penn State Nittany Lions made it all the way to the semifinals of the College Football Playoffs in 2024, and the hype surrounding the coming season could not be higher with the odds sitting at 10.5 games O/U.
With Drew Allar returning as quarterback and another campaign with head coach James Franklin at the helm, the sky is the limit for the Nittany Lions, with many analysts (and fans) having high hopes for the program's chances in 2025.
The odds for the 2025 season have now been released, and Vegas seems to have just as many high hopes for the program as everyone else. FanDuel Sportsbook has placed the team's season win total at 10.5.

The team won 13 games last year and is geared up for another stellar performance this time around.
The only games that could give Penn State issues are the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Oregon Ducks. While Penn kept it close in their contests against those teams in 2024, losing by eight or fewer points in each, they have not beaten the Buckeyes since 2016, and lost to the Ducks in the Big Ten Championship game last year. They will face both teams in the regular season of 2025.
It is gearing up to be another exciting season in Happy Valley. With Allar at the helm for one more bite at the apple, anything is possible.

Iowa football QB Mark Gronowski leads the pack of best Big Ten returning quarterbacks
Iowa football QB Mark Gronowski leads the pack of best Big Ten returning quarterbacks As the summer months continue to slowly creep by as the 2025 college football season kickoff looms, there is a growing sense of expectations and excitement surrounding the Iowa Hawkeyes and the noise they could potentially make this fall. The reason for the anticipation rests on the shoulders of their new quarterback, South Dakota State Jackrabbits transfer Mark Gronowski. Expected to be one of the most impactful transfers in the Big Ten, the Hawkeyes and their faithful are hoping that he can continue the dominance that he showed at the FCS level while winning two national championships. Mark Gronowski's arm talent and running ability are undeniable, and that combination of skill sets has him ranked as the top returning quarterback in the Big Ten entering 2025, per Pro Football Focus. While at South Dakota State, Mark Gronowski threw for 10,330 yards and 93 touchdowns while adding 1,767 rushing yards and 37 rushing touchdowns on the ground to prove that defenses have to game plan for him in a multitude of ways. Other Big Ten quarterbacks returning in 2025 that could lead their teams to a successful year, or even a College Football Playoff run, include Penn State's Drew Allar, UCLA's new QB Nico Iamaleava, Indiana's new QB Fernando Mendoza, and Luke Altmyer, the signal caller of the Illinois Fighting Illini. Mac Jones embraces fresh start with 49ers after getting passed over in 2021 NFL Draft
Mac Jones is happy finally to be with coach Kyle Shanahan and the San Francisco 49ers even if it came four years after many expected. Jones was linked to San Francisco leading into the 2021 draft but was passed over and ended up in New England. Now after an up and down first four years in the NFL, Jones is trying to revive his career as a backup to Brock Purdy in Shanahan's offense. "Obviously the world works in mysterious ways," Jones said Wednesday. "I'm glad to be back here and learning from a great group of guys, and that's players and coaches. You go where you go in the draft, right? You don't get a lot of choice over that, but I'm definitely excited to be here now." Jones and San Francisco were closely linked leading up to the 2021 draft after the Niners traded three first-round picks to get the No. 3 overall selection. Shanahan was looking to draft a franchise quarterback and was debating between Jones and Trey Lance before San Francisco finally opted for Lance. Matthew Huang/Icon Sportswire via Getty Images The move backfired as Lance struggled to stay healthy and adjust to Shanahan's system. He made only four starts in two seasons before being traded to Dallas for a fourth-round pick in August 2023, having lost the starting job to Purdy, the last pick in the 2022 draft. Jones had a fast start to his career, helping New England make the playoffs in his rookie season. But Jones regressed the next year after offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels left for Las Vegas, and he was replaced as the starter in 2023. Jones was traded to Jacksonville last March and started seven games for the Jaguars, throwing eight TD passes and eight interceptions. Jones has made 49 career starts, posting an 84.9 passer rating with 54 TD passes, 44 interceptions and averaging 6.7 yards per attempt. He said he didn't hesitate to pick San Francisco in his first shot at free agency and has hopes a stint as a backup here can spark his career in a similar fashion to what happened to Sam Darnold after he spent the 2023 season with the Niners. "I always love watching their tape," Jones said. "When you look at stats around the league, they're always in the top five, you see the little San Francisco logo. So I always love watching what Kyle did throughout the years and to finally get in and learn it, it's been a little bit challenging, but also a great challenge because it's things, some things I've done and some things I haven't done at all." Jones has had a different play caller every season in the NFL and said learning another new offense is like "drinking from a water hose." Quarterbacks coach Mick Lombardi said that experience pays dividends this spring. "He's not new to this," Lombardi said. "He's not new to kind of new terminology new footwork and how to be coached differently. The one thing I love about Mac is he's always here. He's always willing to try new try new things. He's not stuck in his ways, and he really wants to try and do it our way." Lombardi and Jones have familiarity with Lombardi serving as receivers coach in New England when Jones was a rookie in 2021. Jones and Purdy have a relationship that goes even further, with Jones hosting Purdy on a recruiting visit to Alabama in 2018 and the two have thrown together in the offseason near Jacksonville before Jones signed with San Francisco. "We talked about that and joked around with it a little bit, just him being at Alabama and really before he took off too with his career and the amazing, obviously the National Championship run he had and then getting drafted and everything," Purdy said. "It's pretty cool. We were both just young kids both heading into college and then now here we are on the same team. It's pretty cool."

White Sox owner Jerry Reinsdorf strikes deal to possibly sell control of team to billionaire Justin Ishbia as early as 2029
Billionaire Phoenix Suns co-owner Justin Ishbia has reached an agreement with Chicago White Sox chairman Jerry Reinsdorf that could see Ishbia taking over control of the team as soon as 2029. The White Sox confirmed Thursday that they have reached a deal that will call for Ishbia, who's already owner of a small stake in the White Sox, to make new investments in the team in 2025 and 2026 to be used to pay down existing debt and support team operations. Under the deal, from 2029-2033, Reinsdorf would have the option to sell his controlling interest in the White Sox to Ishbia. Starting in 2034, Ishbia would have the option to acquire the controlling interest in the team from Reinsdorf. If Ishbia does end up with a controlling interest of the team at any point, other minority owners will also have a chance to sell their shares to him. Justin Ishbia is a founding partner in Chicago-based private equity firm Shore Capital. He and his brother, Mat, co-own the Phoenix Suns of the NBA and the Phoenix Mercury of the WNBA. Justin also owns a minority stake in the Major League Soccer club Nashville SC. The White Sox stressed that, under the agreement, Reinsdorf will continue to control the team at least through 2029, and that there is no guarantee Ishbia will eventually take over. Reinsdorf purchased a controlling interest in the team in 1981, and has run the organization ever since. "Having the incredible opportunity to own the Chicago White Sox and be part of Major League Baseball for nearly 50 years has been a life-changing experience," Reinsdorf said in a statement. "I have always expressed my intent to operate the White Sox as long as I am able and remain committed to returning this franchise to the level of on-field success we all expect and desire." This is a developing story.
