'Reckless' driver crashes during 100mph police chase in Sussex
A "reckless" driver who crashed during a 100mph police chase in Sussex, leaving a passenger with serious injuries, has been jailed.
Brandon Lee, 28, was driving a Ford Fiesta on the A23 near Pyecombe after 2am on 8 December, 2023.
Police officers followed him as he drove out of Brighton and activated blue lights after Lee reached speeds of 100mph in a 60mph zone.
Lee drove down Clayton Hill on the A273 on the wrong side of the carriageway before losing control and hitting a phone box on a bend.
The passenger, a woman, suffered life-changing injuries.
Lee, of Forest Close, Horsham, was jailed for two years, and disqualified from driving for two years and eight months.
Sergeant Joe McGregor from the Surrey and Sussex Roads Policing Unit said: 'Lee's driving was reckless and dangerous.
'We know that one in three collisions in Sussex occur because drivers are going too fast.
'Speeding is one of the main reasons why people are killed or seriously injured on our roads.
'Lee is incredibly lucky that he did not cause a fatality that night, but this collision continues to have a lasting impact on the victim.
'We are pleased that a dangerous driver has been taken off our roads.'

In a new interview with The Sun, Jamie-Lee, who was just nine years old at the time of her stepmother's murder, recalled how Drabbad and Helle had been embroiled in a fierce 24-hour fight beforehand. Sharing her beloved stepmother's final words to her over a fraught family dinner, Jamie-Lee told the publication: '[She said]: 'Enjoy your meal because this is the last time I will cook for you... because Isakin is going to kill me'." It was Jamie Lee's mother who broke the devastating news, and she remembers them both "crying and screaming" as they grappled to come to terms with what had happened. As shared by Jamie Lee, her parents split up when she was still a toddler, and so she split her time between her mum's and dad's separate homes. Entering her dad's apartment, which contained pictures of Friday the 13th and Freddy Krueger, felt "like walking into a horror movie". Drabbad had a dark obsession with the occult and even tried to get his own daughter involved. Jamie-Lee remembered: 'He often talked about the devil, demons and evil spirits, and when I was little, he liked to introduce me to the other side. 'We would lay in the dark on the bed and he would go, 'Do you see the faces on the wall, can you see them?' Then he would say it so much I would actually start seeing them.' He would gift her sinister presents, including a satanic bible, and even a Voodoo Doll when she complained about being bullied. Helle's death left Jamie-Lee completely traumatised. She began drinking at an early age and dropped out of school at 15, unable to pursue her childhood dreams of becoming a doctor. Thankfully, at 23, mum-of-two Jamie-Lee has managed to turn her life around, and is now looking forward to marrying her partner of five years. A public speaker and author, Jamie-Lee now inspires others to find a more positive path after enduring serious challenges. Sharing her philosophy on life, Jamie-Lee continued: 'Just because your childhood sucked doesn't mean your entire life has to. We have the power over our own lives and we can create something beautiful even if we came from something ugly.' In a recent two-hour episode of Evil Lives Here: The Killer Speaks, which aired back in April, a tearful Jamie-Lee was seen bravely confronting her father, telling him: "Do you know how much you have to love someone to still want to see the person who is scaring you to death?" Drabbad replied: "I think it's extremely difficult to have me in your life. You can only see heaven from hell ... I look at you from hell. And I'm sorry." Detailing her motivation for wanting to be on the show at the time the episode aired, Jamie-Lee told People: "I want people to understand the darkness I came from and that I actually managed to get myself out from under it. But he had not changed, as the then 17-year-old was about to find out. 'I was in a really, really bad state and I was seconds away from killing myself and I said to my dad, 'I don't know what to do, I'm going to kill myself if something doesn't change'," said Jamie-Lee. 'We sat down, in front of each other, and he told me to hold his hands and he wanted me to say after him. Jamie-Lee still cannot bear to utter the words her father told her to say that day, but explains he tried to sell her soul to the devil. She said: 'I felt, like, 'What the hell am I doing?' 'He told me with such passion, and that scared me, it was so disturbing," she said. But the final straw was when Jamie-Lee decided to confront her dad about something she wanted an apology for. The data was analysed by Show Plates World, which looked into the car models stolen the most between May 2024 and May 2025. Car theft continues to be a major issue across the UK, with more than 61,000 vehicles reported stolen in the past 12 months. Across the top 10 most stolen cars, models from Ford and Range Rover had multiple inclusions. Top 10 stolen car models in the UK in the last year According to the analysis of the DVLA data from Show Plates World, the top 10 most stolen car models were: 1. Ford Fiesta – 4,446 stolen Ford Fiesta was far and away the most stolen car model in the UK, with more than 4,400 nicked over the last year. With over 1.5 million on UK roads and Ford discontinuing the model, demand for spare parts is high. Older versions lacking advanced security are especially vulnerable. 2. Volkswagen Golf – 1,731 stolen A reliable family car – and a favourite among thieves. Its popularity and plentiful parts make it a common target for theft and dismantling. UK speed limits explained 3. Ford Focus – 1,700 stolen Another top-seller with ageing models still in circulation. Easy to steal and in high demand for parts, particularly older pre-immobiliser versions. 4.
