UPSC releases exam schedule for CMS and IEE/ISS exam 2025, check timetable here
Union Public Service Commission has released exam schedule for Indian Economic Service/Indian Statistical Service Examination, 2025 and Combined Medical Services Examination, 2025. Candidates who will appear for the examination can check the official website of UPSC at upsc.gov.in for exam schedule.
As per the official notice, the Indian Economic Service/Indian Statistical Service Examination, 2025 will be held on June 20, 21 and 22, 2025. The exam will be held in two shifts- first shift from 9 am to 12 noon and second shift from 2.30 pm to 5.30 pm.
The Combined Medical Services Examination, 2025 will be held on July 20, 2025. The exam will be held in two shifts- first shift from 9.30 am to 11.30 am and second shift from 2 pm to 4 pm.
To download the exam schedule, candidates can follow the steps given below.
1. Visit the official website of UPSC at upsc.gov.in.
2. Click on CMS and IEE/ISS exam 2025 timetables link available on the home page.
3. A new PDF file will open where candidates can check the exam dates.
4. Download the file and keep a hard copy of the same for further need.
Candidates should reach the examination venue well in time, at least 30 minutes before the commencement of each session. No late entry will be allowed inside the examination venue under any circumstances.

The Commission has introduced a time frame of 7 days (a week) i.e. from the next day of the Examination Date to 6:00 P.M. of the 7th day is fixed for the candidates to make representations to the Commission on the questions asked in the Papers of the Examination. Such representation must be submitted through the 'Online Question Paper Representation Portal (QPRep)' only by accessing the URL https://upsconline.gov.in/miscellaneous/QPRep/ .

DA Arrears: When Will Central Govt Employees Receive 18-Month Frozen Amount?
Last Updated: The arrears pertain to 3 installments of DA hikes -- spanning the period from January 2020-June 2021 -- which were frozen as part of fiscal tightening measures during the pandemic. DA Hike: The long-standing demand for the restoration of 18 months of dearness allowance (DA) and dearness relief (DR) arrears has once again come to the forefront, as central government employees continue to press for the release of the frozen dues. The issue was raised afresh during the 63rd meeting of the Standing Committee of the National Council of the Joint Consultative Machinery (NC-JCM), held on April 23, 2025. The staff side of the NC-JCM strongly reiterated its demand for the payment of arrears that were withheld during the COVID-19 pandemic. The arrears pertain to three installments of DA/DR hikes — spanning the period from January 2020 to June 2021 — which were frozen as part of fiscal tightening measures during the nationwide crisis. The government has maintained that the fiscal burden resulting from the pandemic and various financial welfare schemes introduced during the crisis made it infeasible to release the withheld amount. The government noted that the economic fallout of COVID-19 extended beyond FY 2020-21, impacting budgetary decisions in subsequent years. This is not the first time that the staff side has raised the issue. Ahead of the Union Budget 2025, representatives of the NC-JCM had written to Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, urging the government to consider releasing the pending arrears, citing both financial justice and rising living costs for employees and pensioners. DA Revision Mechanism Disrupted During COVID-19 Under normal circumstances, DA for government employees and DR for pensioners are revised twice a year—in January and July — based on changes in the Consumer Price Index (CPI). However, amid the uncertainty caused by COVID-19, the government froze DA hikes for 18 months, impacting nearly 50 lakh central government employees and over 60 lakh pensioners. Although DA hikes were resumed from July 2021 onwards, the frozen installments were never retrospectively paid, leading to consistent demands for their restoration by employee unions and staff federations. 8th Pay Commission Formed, But Clarity Awaits The demand for arrears has gained further attention in light of the government's approval of the 8th Pay Commission in January 2025. Scheduled to be implemented from January 1, 2026, the Commission is expected to overhaul salary, pension, and allowance structures for central government employees. However, despite its approval, the Commission's Terms of Reference (ToR) and the official appointment of its members are still pending. This has added to the uncertainty over whether employee concerns — including the unresolved DA arrears — will find a place in the new Commission's mandate. 'We expect the Terms of Reference to get the government's nod soon. It should be approved at the earliest," Shiv Gopal Mishra, secretary of the Staff Side of NC-JCM, has said in a recent statement to NDTV Profit. No Timeline Yet for Arrears Restoration While the demand for the release of DA/DR arrears continues to gather steam, no official commitment or timeline has been announced by the government so far. For now, employee unions remain hopeful that the matter will be addressed either through the 8th Pay Commission process or via separate financial consideration by the Centre. Until then, the 18-month DA/DR freeze remains an unresolved chapter in the post-pandemic financial landscape for lakhs of central government employees and pensioners. New Delhi: In the first week of April, we had reported that Vikas Divyakirti, who runs Drishti IAS coaching center, wanted to sell his education business and Physics Wallah had shown interest in buying the business. It was further mentioned that this deal would be completed for Rs 2,500 crore, making it the biggest deal in the world of edutech. Alakh Pandey is famous as PhysicsWallah among crores of students of the country. Now, as per the latest news coming in says that the much publicised acquisition of Drishti IAS by PhysicsWallah has been called off. The deal was in advanced stages but ultimately fell through due to multiple reasons, according to a report by Entrackr. PhysicsWallah was actively exploring acquisitions to strengthen its position in the civil services preparation segment as suggested by multiple reports in April. Drishti IAS is one of the most famous names in UPSC coaching, especially among Hindi-medium aspirants. According to the report, Drishti IAS evaluated the proposal after being approached by PhysicsWallah. However, considering its strong financial performance and independent growth, the company decided not to go ahead with the deal. The report added that Drishti IAS is currently not looking to raise external funds or be acquired. Founded in 1999, Drishti IAS has built a strong presence in the civil services coaching space. In the financial year 2023–24, the Delhi-based institute reported revenue of Rs 405 crore and a profit after tax of Rs 90 crore which indicates that the institute is also expected to post healthy growth in FY25. PhysicsWallah, which originally focussed on online coaching for engineering and medical entrance exams, has recently been expanding into UPSC and other competitive exams. It was in this regard that its acquisition of Drishti IAS was seen as a strategic step to strengthen its offline footprint and diversify its educational offerings, particularly ahead of its planned stock market debut.
