Israel Warns Hamas To Accept US Envoys Gaza Ceasefire Deal Or Face Destruction
New Delhi: Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz has issued a stern warning to Hamas, urging them to accept the Gaza ceasefire proposal put forth by US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff. The proposal outlines a two-phase release of 10 living Israeli hostages and 18 bodies in exchange for a 60-day ceasefire and the release of 1,236 Palestinian detainees and prisoners, along with 180 Palestinian bodies.
Katz emphasized that Israel's military operations in Gaza will continue with full force until Hamas accepts the deal, with intense air, land, and sea attacks aimed at protecting Israeli soldiers.
In a statement issued by his office, Katz said the Israeli military continued its operations in Gaza with full force, carrying out attacks by air, land, and sea on an unprecedented scale "for maximum protection of our soldiers in preparation for the entry of the maneuvering forces in each area."
In a statement issued on Friday, the Israeli military said that since Thursday, its air force, alongside ground forces, had struck dozens of targets across the Gaza Strip, which "eliminated terrorists, dismantled weapons, terrorist infrastructure, and underground infrastructure sites."
It added that during the military operations, two rocket-propelled grenades were fired at Israeli troops, lightly wounding three soldiers.
Of the 251 hostages seized during the October 2023 Hamas attack, 57 remain in Gaza, of whom 34 are believed to be dead, according to the Israeli military.
Earlier on Friday, the White House said that Israel has signed off on a 60-day Gaza ceasefire proposal as Israeli army continues its military actions in the war-torn area.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed at a press briefing that US Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff and US President Donald Trump "submitted a ceasefire proposal to Hamas that Israel backed and supported."

50 bombs, 30 seconds: How Israel eliminated Hamas top commander in May 13 strike
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) on May 13 executed a surgical airstrike that dropped over 50 bombs in just 30 seconds, targeting what it called a Hamas command-and-control center hidden beneath a hospital in Gaza's Khan Yunis. The strike, according to IDF, killed senior Hamas commander Muhammad Sinwar and operative Muhammad three weeks after the operation, the Israeli military has released video footage illustrating the alleged underground infrastructure. The visuals, coupled with a 3D illustration, claim to show how a civilian hospital was sitting atop a sprawling subterranean militant by the IDF as a "Hamas combat control center", the tunnel complex beneath the hospital was allegedly used to direct terrorist operations. The Israeli military said the strike was carried out with precision, claiming the hospital's functionality remained intact. "The terrorists were eliminated while operating in an underground command and control center under the European Hospital in Khan Younis, deliberately endangering the civilian population in and around the hospital," a joint statement by the IDF and Shin Bet security agency read, according to The Times of Israel. The operation, jointly conducted by the IDF and Israel Securities Authority (ISA), specifically aimed to eliminate high-ranking Hamas figures without causing collateral damage to the hospital or civilians, officials said. The military also emphasised that it employed precision munitions, real-time aerial surveillance, and layered intelligence to reduce civilian to and during the strike, measures were taken to minimise the risk of civilian harm," the IDF Hamas-run Health Ministry reported 16 deaths and said that over 70 people were injured in the Israeli attack marked one of the most high-profile eliminations of Hamas leadership since the beginning of the war, which broke out on October 7, 2023.
