Details emerge of demolitions of North Lanarkshire tower blocks
The council's tower strategy aims to replace outdated high-rises with "modern, high-quality" homes across the area.
As part of phase one, more than 1,600 properties have been vacated, with several towers demolished and others repurposed to support the Ukraine Resettlement Programme.
Phase two is now underway, with decanting progressing across sites in Wishaw, Kilsyth, Airdrie, Coatbridge, and Motherwell.

Key milestones include ongoing demolition works at Jackson Court in Coatbridge and Coursington, Allan, and Draffen Towers in Motherwell, where a controlled blowdown is planned to take place later in the year.
Preparations are also progressing for future demolitions at Dunbeth Court in Coatbridge and Allershaw Tower, Wishaw.

Councillor Michael McPake, convener of housing, said: "We're making real progress in delivering safe, modern homes that meet the needs of our residents.
"This programme is not just about replacing buildings, it's about improving lives, enhancing communities, and ensuring our housing stock is fit for the future."
Alongside demolition projects, safety improvements such as sprinkler installations, fire safety upgrades, and lift replacements in five tower blocks are also being implemented.

First Minister and SNP leader John Swinney had apparently stemmed the bleeding after the infamous police fraud investigation, endless fallout over gender identity reforms, and last year's general election where they were almost wiped out. This result leaves them no further forward than 12 months ago with questions over the party's strategy. Reform UK is very much in the Scottish picture now, finishing a few hundred votes behind the nationalists. This is a party led by a man who barely registered any support north of the border for many years. A remarkable transformation. The surge in support has spooked many because they know fine well Nigel Farage is only just getting started. One poll had Reform UK forming the next official opposition at Holyrood. After tonight, that might be a tall order but Mr Farage is shaking things up at the expense of the Conservatives.

Police Scotland name woman found dead in Glasgow flat
A woman who died in a Glasgow flat in February has been named as Hayley 48-year-old was found dead at a property on Burgh Hall Street in Partick on 24 February with Police Scotland treating her death as unexplained at the time. The force has now revealed a 47-year-old woman they wanted to interview in relation to Ms Campbell's death was found dead at a separate address the next day. The woman was found at a property on Kilbowie Road, Clydebank and her death is not being treated as suspicious. Police Scotland said it was not looking for anyone else in connection with Ms Campbell's death.
