Wales U20s coach Richard Whiffin says he has some difficult decisions ahead when it comes to naming his squad for the World Championship in Italy, as he praised the improved strength in depth at age-grade level.
His side ended their preparations for the upcoming tournament with a seven-try 47-19 victory over Italy at the Arms Park on Friday. Whiffin used a total of 29 players in all as his squad bounced back from defeat to England last week.

Afterwards, the Wales coach admitted he was delighted at the performance ahead of naming his squad on Tuesday.

'It was a really disciplined performance,' he said. 'We stuck to the plan for the whole 80 as there was a chance for that to get a little bit loose.
'We were disciplined with our kicking and when the space was there, we went after it. I just said to the group there were 45 boys working hard and they've made my job pretty tough.'
On whether he had some big decisions coming up as he names his squad for the tournament in Italy, he added: 'Massively.

'We've got strength in depth across positions. It's going to create some headaches for us as coaches.
'The nature of the tournament is you pick up injuries as it goes on. The fact we've got 45 players game time over these two weeks will set anyone up well if they don't make the plane but come out later.'

Wales start their campaign against Argentina before facing France and Spain.
'Certainly from last year, I think so,' said Whiffin when asked if there was more strength in depth available to him. 'The ability to rotate will be key in the heat out in Italy.'
Ioan Emanuel, Ioan Duggan along and Aidan Boshoff (twice) all crossed for tries in the first half, while a penalty try and Harri Ford's three conversions gave Wales a 33-14 lead at the break.

Wales new favourites for title after Littler and Humphries exit Germany's Martin Schindler and Ricardo Pietreczko are hunting Darts World Cup glory after toppling England's dream team of Luke Humphries and Luke Littler. Harry Beddall ready to learn from Thomas Young at Dragons

The Wales Under-20s captain has signed for the Rodney Parade club from Leicester Tigers, where he has seen full Welsh international scavenging king Tommy Reffell at close quarters. Beddall, from Roath in Cardiff, has opted to return home to sign for the Dragons and he is likely to get plenty of game time in Super Rygbi Cymru while also pushing for United Rugby Championship action. The 20-year-old faces a stiff battle for the 7 jersey with stalwart Harri Keddie and fellow new signing Young, who is making the short trip from Cardiff Arms Park. The Dragons will hope that the four-times capped flanker, who arrives on a three-year deal, proves to be a hit on and off the field to help with their succession planning. EXPERIENCED: Thomas Young heads to the Dragons from Cardiff (Image: Huw Evans Agency) 'I've heard that he's a very good mentor and I am looking forward to learning off him,' said Beddall, who is preparing for the World Rugby U20 Championship. 'He's very good over the ball and in attack, so those are areas where I can definitely pick his brains. 'There are loads of other players to do that with as well – the back row is stacked – so I will be going to the Dragons with an open mind to learn from the best.' Beddall has already shown his qualities at Rodney Parade after an inspirational performance in Wales' U20 Six Nations win against Ireland in Newport. The flanker racked up an incredible 34 tackles against the Irish and finished the championship on top of the chart with 109 victims in five fixtures. Like fellow Wales U20s back rower Evan Minto, who made three senior Dragons appearances off the bench last season, Beddall is hungry to push for URC action. TALENT: The Dragons have signed Wales U20s captain Harry Beddall from Leicester (Image: Chris Fairweather/Huw Evans Agency) 'The Under-20s has been a massive opportunity and opens up new experiences,' said Beddall, whose age-grade career ends after this summer's championship in Italy. 'Representing your country in front of big crowds has been great as you get ready for the next step. 'I am fully focused on this tournament and then I will be really excited to join up with the Dragons for pre-season and to try and get game time. 'To be honest, all I am thinking about is ripping into training this summer to give myself the best opportunity to play, whether for the Dragons or at another level. 'Playing is the most important thing at my age and that's something that I am looking forward to doing next season.'
