Tennis round-up: Carlos Alcaraz, Daniil Medvedev reach finals; Marketa Vondrousova stuns World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka

NEW DELHI: Carlos Alcaraz booked his spot in the Queen's Club final for the second straight year with a commanding 6-4, 6-4 win over Roberto Bautista Agut. Extending his career-best winning streak to 17 matches, the world number two produced 36 winners and 15 aces in the sweltering London heat.
Alcaraz, aiming to become just the second Spaniard to win Queen's twice, will face Czech rising star Jiri Lehecka, who upset Britain's Jack Draper 6-4, 4-6, 7-5 to reach his first ATP grass-court final.
Lehecka, the first Czech in the Queen's final since Ivan Lendl in 1990, edged past a flu-ridden Draper, who was pushing through a bout of tonsillitis. Despite the setback, Draper fought hard, but admitted post-match that it was the worst he'd felt all week.
Lehecka also defeated Alex de Minaur and Jacob Fearnley en route to the final.
Meanwhile, in Halle, Daniil Medvedev overcame Alexander Zverev 7-6(3), 6-7(1), 6-4 in a gruelling three-hour semi-final to reach his first final in 15 months.
Medvedev will face defending champion Alexander Bublik in Sunday's final after the Kazakh served 19 aces in a comeback 4-6, 7-6(5), 6-4 win over fellow Russian Karen Khachanov. Bublik, ranked 45, is chasing his fifth career title and his second straight Halle crown.

IND vs ENG: Viral moment! Rishabh Pant's six makes Headingley security official an instant hero
Rishabh Pant (Getty Images) NEW DELHI: India were bowled out for a formidable 471 in their first innings of the opening Test against England at Headingley, with three centurions — captain Shubman Gill , vice-captain Rishabh Pant , and opener Yashasvi Jaiswal — leading the charge. Jaiswal (101) and KL Rahul (42) provided a solid foundation with a 91-run opening stand, setting the tone for India's innings. Gill (147) and Pant (134) then took over, stitching together a 209-run partnership for the fourth wicket, taking the game away from the hosts with a mix of grit and flair. Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. SUBSCRIBE NOW! Pant was the most aggressive of the trio, blasting 12 fours and six sixes in his 134 off 178 balls. It marked his seventh Test century — the most by an Indian wicketkeeper-batter in the format, surpassing MS Dhoni 's record of six. The milestone moment came in style as Pant launched Shoaib Bashir over the ropes on the first ball of the 100th over to reach his century. One of Pant's six towering sixes even landed in the stands, where a security official caught it cleanly — prompting cheers from the Headingley crowd and a warm smile and wave from the lucky catcher, whose moment of joy was captured on camera. This was Pant's first Test hundred since September 2024, when he scored 109 against Bangladesh. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Trade Bitcoin & Ethereum – No Wallet Needed! Six Penn State players among College Football 26's highest-rated athletes
Image Source: Getty EA Sports announced the top 100 football players for its anticipated College Football 26, and six Penn State players were included with all receiving solid 91 or above overall ratings. Scheduled for release on July 10, the top player ratings of the game were released recently, and it's no shocker to see Penn State with a strong presence here. The mix of veteran leadership and dynamic youth on display from the State's presence in the top 100 suggests Penn State ultimately has an elite roster as the program heads into 2025. Full list of Penn State players rated 91+ in College Football 26 Penn State's top-rated player is running back Nicholas Singleton, who has a 93 overall rating. With his explosiveness and vision, Singleton has been a weapon for Penn State, so we could see him achieve fan favorite status in the upcoming College Football season. Quarterback Drew Allar and running back Kaytron Allen came just behind at a 92 overall. Allar is a highly touted arm talent with plenty of poise under center, while Allen's a workhorse runner who can push the ball downhill. Defensively, acrobatic edge rusher Dani Dennis-Sutton was a 92 overall, too. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 5 Books Warren Buffett Wants You to Read In 2025 Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo That combination of size, strength, and burst is a quarterback's nightmare! Former England fast bowler David Lawrence dead at 61
David 'Syd' Lawrence, the first British-born black cricketer to play for England, has died at the age of 61, it was announced Sunday. Nearly a year ago it was revealed that Gloucestershire fast bowler Lawrence, who took 18 wickets in five Tests between 1988 and 1992, had been diagnosed with motor neurone disease, an incurable illness, which progressively damages parts of the nervous system. A statement from Lawrence's family given to Britain's PA news agency said: "It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dave Lawrence MBE following his brave battle with motor neurone disease." Lawrence bagged a five-wicket haul against the West Indies in 1991 to help England seal a series-levelling win at the Oval, with Desmond Haynes and Vivian Richards among the batsmen he dismissed. But his career all but ended the following year with a sickening injury when he shattered his kneecap running into bowl during a Test against New Zealand in Wellington. That was the end of his time with England, although he made a brief comeback for Bristol-based Gloucestershire, playing four four-first class games in 1997 before retiring for good after taking 625 wickets for the county. He later became president of Gloucestershire, with his old county saying in a social media post Sunday that they were "devastated" to learn of Lawrence's death. Following his MND diagnosis, there were emotional scenes when Gloucestershire won the T20 Blast final at Edgbaston last year, with captain James Bracey presenting the trophy to Lawrence. His MND diagnosis also hastened Lawrence's autobiography amid fears he would lose the ability to speak. Titled 'In Syd's Voice', and written with the help of cricket journalist Dean Wilson, the book was published this month. England and Wales Cricket Board chairman Richard Thompson hailed Lawrence as a "true trailblazer" who became a "powerful voice for inclusion and representation in our sport". There was a minute's applause in honour of Lawrence before the start of the third day's play in the first Test between England and India at Headingley on Sunday, with players and officials also wearing black armbands as a mark of respect.
