Mohamed Ramadan Lands Next Film Role

Egyptian actor Mohamed Ramadan has lined up his next movie role.
The untitled project sees Ramadan teaming up again with producer Ahmed El Sobky for the first time in seven years.
It also marks the pair's four collaboration after "Abdo Mota" (2012), "Qalb Al-Assad" (2013), and "El Diesel" (2018).
Ramadan is currently busy shooting Mohamed Diab's historical action thriller film "Assad".
Maged El Kedwany, Khaled Elsawy, Razane Jammal, Sherif Salama, Aly Kassem, Ahmed Khaled Saleh, and Ahmed Dash, are also on board to star.
Mohamed Diab directs from a script he co-wrote with Sherine Diab and Khaled Diab.
"Assad" is set in 1280 AD in the Mamluk era and features Ramadan portraying Ali bin Muhammad Al-Farsi, who is sold in the slave market and later leads the revolution against the Abbasid army.
Ramadan previously said that the film took three years to prepare for, and because of it, he didn't make any new TV series due to the film's complexity and time frame.
"Assad" reunites Ramadan with Dash for the third time after working together on the 2023 TV series "
Gaafar El Omda
" and the 2020 TV series "
Al Prince
".
It also marks the actor's second foray into the historical genre, after starring in 2017's "The Treasure" and its follow-up, 2019's "The Treasure 2: Love and Destiny", both directed by Sherif Arafa.
Ramadan, born on May 23, 1988, began acting while at school. He launched his career with small roles in TV series like 'The Cinderella' until he had his big break in Yousry Nasrallah's 'Ehky Ya Sharazad' (Tell me, Shahrazad).
He then went on to star in blockbusters produced by the famous Egyptian producers Mohamed and Ahmed El Sobky, which made him one of the most bankable actors in the Middle East.
Ramadan began exploring the music scene in the past years.

Egyptian Film "Aisha Can't Fly Away" to Screen at South Africa's Durban International Film Festival
Yara Sameh Following its historic world premiere at Cannes, Morad Mostafa's Egyptian thriller "Aisha Can't Fly Away" is set to hold its African premiere at the 46th Durban International Film Festival, taking place in South Africa from July 17 to 27. The first Egyptian film in Cannes' Un Certain Regard in nearly a decade, "Aisha Can't Fly Away" received an extended round of rapturous applause and a well-deserved standing ovation at the powerhouse French festival. Aisha is a 26-year-old Sudanese caregiver living in a neighborhood in the heart of Cairo, where she witnesses the tension between her fellow African migrants and other groups. Unwittingly, she becomes involved with an Egyptian gang that blackmails her into stealing her patients' keys so that they can rob them. A co-production between Egypt, France, Germany, Tunisia, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Sudan, the film has garnered significant support, including grants from the Doha Film Institute, Cultural Resource Fund, El Gouna Film Festival, Locarno Academy, Cannes' Cinéfondation and La Fabrique des Cinémas du Monde, and Montpellier Méditerranée Métropole. It also notably swept a top award at Red Sea Lodge, five at Venice's Final Cut, as well as the Atlas Award at Marrakech International Film Festival. The creative team behind "Aisha Can't Fly Away" features several returning faces from Mostafa's "I Promise You Paradise", including cinematographer Mostafa El Kashef, who also worked on last year's Cannes entry "The Village Next to Paradise", which also made its way to Toronto; production designer Eman Elelaby, who earned a FIPRESCI Prize for her work on FEATHERS; costume designer Nayera Eldahshoury; sound engineer Mostafa Shaban; and editor Mohamed Mamdouh. Produced by Sawsan Yusuf's Bonanza Films, the film is co-produced alongside Dora Bouchoucha and Lina Shaban of Tunisia's Nomadis Images, Sherif Fathy of Shift Studios, Ahmed Amer of A. A. Films, Faisal Baltayour from Cinewaves, Alaa Karkouti and Maher Diab of MAD Solutions — the subsidiary of which, MAD World, is handling the film's world sales— May Odeh and Zorana Musikic of Mayana Films, Laura Nikolov of Coorigins, Abellelah Al Ahmary of Arabia Pictures, and associate producer Amjad Abu Alala. "Aisha Can't Fly Away" boasts a stellar cast, with Buliana Simon taking on the lead role of Aisha alongside Egyptian rapper Ziad Zaza—in his first feature-length appearance—Emad Ghoniem, and Mamdouh Saleh. Morad Mostafa is an Egyptian film director born in Cairo in 1988 who has worked as an assistant director in the film industry for over ten years. He is also a graduate of Berlinale Talents, Durban Talents, Locarno Academy, and Cinéfondation Cannes and has been named one of the Arab Stars of Tomorrow by Screen International Magazine in 2023. Last year, Mostafa was chosen as one of the top 100 influential cinema personalities in the Middle East in an annual list published by the Arab Cinema Center. He has also participated in several international jury panels, the most recent of which was at the Cairo International Film Festival. Mostafa is most known for writing and directing "Ward's Henna Party", "What We Don't Know About Mariam", "Khadiga", and "I Promise You Paradise", all of which were selected for the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival — the most important short film festival in the world. These films have been screened at over 400 festivals worldwide and have won around 150 local and international awards. His latest short film, "I Promise You Paradise", was selected for the 77th Cannes Film Festival's Critics' Week, where it won the Rail d'Or. It also participated in the Locarno International Film Festival and made it to the shortlist of the César Awards. Cardi B Announces Long-Awaited Sophomore Album "Am I the Drama?": Here's When It Arrives
Yara Sameh More than seven years after the release of her Grammy-winning debut album 'Invasion of Your Privacy,' Cardi B has announced that the follow-up is finally coming. The rapper revealed that her sophomore album 'Am I the Drama?' is slated to arrive on September 19. She announced the record on social media, along with the album cover , which shows her posing against a flock of crows. Cardi was typically unsubtle about signaling that the album was finally on the way. In an Instagram post on Sunday, she said in a voiceover as glamorous images of herself surrounded by (fake) crows: 'Seven years and the time has come. Seven years of love, life and loss. Seven years I gave them grace, but now, I give them hell. I learned power is not given, it's taken. I'm shedding feathers and no more tears. I'm not back, I'm beyond. I'm not your villain, I'm your tyrant. The time is here. The time is now.' The rapper recently told her followers that she had delivered the album to her label, Atlantic. Last week, Cardi premiered the new track 'Outside,' during a performance at Cannes Lions. The song officially released last Friday, includes a dig at her ex-husband Offset and name-drops her new partner, New England Patriots wide receiver Stefon Diggs. Cardi opened her performance in Cannes with 'Bongos,' a song she shares with Megan Thee Stallion. She also presented 'Bodak Yellow,' 'I Like It,' 'Money,' 'Up,' and her and Megan's smash hit from 2020, 'WAP.' Cardi's second album has been anticipated for many years — there was even speculation around the time of 'WAP'. Jessie J Undergoes Breast Cancer Surgery, Shares Health Update
Yara Sameh Jessie J is opening up about her breast cancer diagnosis and recovery, sharing a health update as she recovers from surgery and awaits further results. In a new Instagram post shared on Monday, Jessie (born Jessica Cornish) reflected on the highs and lows of the last 48 hours following her operation. 'Blood warning!! This post is some of the honest lows and highs… I will always show the good and hard bits of any journey I go through,' she wrote, alongside photos and a short video from her hospital bed. Jessie also extended her heartfelt gratitude to the medical team that took care of her as well as her friends and family who had come to visit her during her difficult time. 'Grateful to my doctor / surgeon and all the nurses who cared for me and all my family / friends who came to visit,". The British singer reassured her followers that she is now home to rest and awaiting results. 'Still hugging everyone going through something tough right now. We all got this!". The pop star performed what she described as her final show before surgery at Capital's Summertime Ball earlier this month, telling the crowd of 75,000 at Wembley Stadium, 'Today, this show is my last show before I go to beat breast cancer!… It's the most special thing and I'm so grateful for this life, for you guys, for my career, for my son. My partner. My parents.' Jessie revealed her diagnosis earlier this month in a June 3 Instagram post, telling followers that the news came just before the release of her April single, 'No Secrets.' 'I'm highlighting the word 'early,'' she wrote at the time. 'Cancer sucks in any form but I'm holding on to the word 'early.'' Since her diagnosis, the singer has been candid about the emotional process, sharing that she's been 'in and out of tests' and chose to go public with her story not only to process her reality but also to be a source of strength for others. 'I also know how much sharing in the past has helped me with other people giving me their love and support, and also their own stories,' she said. 'I'm an open book. It breaks my heart that so many people are going through so much – similar and worse.' In one lighthearted moment, she joked, 'I'm getting to keep my nipples, that's good,' she added. 'It's a weird topic and a weird situation. And I know the press are going to say crazy stuff but you know what, to get diagnosed with this as I'm putting out a song called 'No Secrets' right before a song called 'Living My Best Life,' which was all pre-planned before I found out about this, I mean, you can't make it up.' Jessie has long been open about her health. In 2020, she revealed a diagnosis of Ménière's disease, and in the years since has also shared her experience with miscarriage, OCD, and ADHD.
