Cronos: The New Dawn Gameplay Trailer Is a Fiery Descent Into 80s Sci-Fi Horror

The upcoming sci-fi survival horror game from Bloober Team, Cronos: The New Dawn, has revealed gameplay in a spine-tingling new trailer.
Bloober Team — the studio behind the upcoming Silent Hill 2 remake — has finally unleashed a trailer packed with Cronos: The New Dawn gameplay for fans to sink their teeth into. Set in a dystopian, post-apocalyptic version of 1980s Poland, Cronos: The New Dawn tells a twisted time-travel story in which players take on the role of a Traveler — agents sent by the Collective to extract select individuals who didn't survive the apocalypse and bring them to safety in the present.v
The trailer can be viewed below (thanks to IGN).
The new trailer for Cronos: The New Dawn explores what Bloober Team is calling 'The Merge' — a new gameplay mechanic that changes how players approach any confrontation, turning a simple walk down the street into a mind-bending nightmare once a merge occurs. A merge happens when fallen enemies combine with living creatures, and the only way to stop them is to burn the dead.
Players will explore two separate time periods in Cronos: The New Dawn as they attempt to rescue individuals selected by the Collective. The decaying district of New Dawn — ironically named — is inspired by the real-life Nowa Huta, offering a bleak setting to explore following the apocalyptic events in the world of Cronos, as well as in the version of 1980s Poland that existed before the fall.
Co-director and producer at Bloober Team, Jacek Zięba, warns players: 'Imagine this — a distorted mix of sci-fi, time travel, retro-futuristic dread and body horror — all set against the gritty backdrop of '80s Poland. What a ride, right? And whatever you do… don't let them merge,' he says, referring to the abominations that await players in New Dawn.
Co-director and designer at Bloober Team, Wojciech Piejko, adds: 'How do you fight them? Fire! Burn the fallen before they merge with living creatures. The Merge changes the game, adding a whole new layer of strategy to combat. Push your survival instincts to the max.'
Cronos: The New Dawn is set for release in 2025 on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and PC.

Watch: Marvel, James Bond among PlayStation State of Play highlights

June 5 (UPI) -- PlayStation has unveiled a number of upcoming video games, including a new fighting game from Marvel and a new take on James Bond. Marvel closed out PlayStation's State of Play livestream event in a big way Wednesday with the surprise announcement of Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls. The title, which hails from acclaimed developer Arc System Works (Guilty Gear, Dragon Ball FighterZ) along with PlayStation Studios and Marvel Games, is an anime-inspired fighting game with four vs. four tag team battles. Captain America, Iron Man, Spider-Man, Star-Lord, Storm, Ghost Rider, Doctor Doom and Ms. Marvel are the first characters confirmed for the game, with more on the way. Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls comes to PlayStation 5 and PC in 2026. Earlier in the show, PlayStation released the trailer for 007: First Light from developer IO Interactive (Hitman). The game explores the origins of James Bond as a recruit in MI6's training program. The younger Bond sports a new look and is described by his superiors as reckless. Players take on the role of Bond as he attempts to track down 009. All of the hallmarks of a Bond film were present, including gadgets, cars and explosions. 007: First Light is set for release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC in 2026.

007: FIRST LIGHT Trailer Drops - A Bold New Bond Origin Story From the HITMAN Devs — GeekTyrant

IO Interactive just pulled the curtain back on 007: First Light during Sony's latest State of Play, and Bond fans might like what they see! I sure do! Previously codenamed Project 007, the game marks IO's much-anticipated leap from hired assassin to international spy. The trailer gives us our first glimpse at their version of Bond, and it's not the polished MI6 veteran you might expect. This is a raw, unshaped Bond, "before the tuxedos and martinis," as IO CEO Hakan Abram puts it. The trailer teases a recruitment file, highlighting his academic record more than any deadly mission log. The Bond we meet here doesn't mimic any single actor from the films. Instead, IO's take is something new, an original character model that subtly nods to the many Bonds who came before, without being beholden to one. What really lands, though, is the gameplay style. It's third-person action, as hoped, and you can instantly feel the Hitman style. Stealthy takedowns, distraction gadgets, and some very creative ways to stay unseen, it's IO playing to its strengths. Of course, no Bond game is complete without an Aston Martin, and the trailer doesn't disappoint there either. There's a high-octane car chase that throws IO into unfamiliar territory, but it's pretty awesome. Mix that in with a few explosive set pieces and a gallery of Bond Girls, and you've got something that feels like a cinematic event waiting to happen. 007: First Light is set to arrive in 2026 for PlayStation 5, with a deeper gameplay dive promised later this week. Until then, consider our martinis stirred.
