Tadej looks like being sent to Coventry in winning at York
Trained by Archie Watson – who won this race with Bradsell prior to his Coventry Stakes success in 2022 – the Ardad colt was making his third career start.
His two runs prior had hinted at more to come, and under Hollie Doyle he started the evens favourite to get off the mark over six furlongs.
Drawing on the experience of his past runs he duly delivered, securing a neat neck victory from Ed Walker's Do Or Not Do and thus enter the Coventry market at 25-1 with Paddy Power.
'He is mentally quite immature, but today it fell together nicely and he fought hard,' said Doyle.
'He's a horse who has got plenty of ability, there's a lot under the bonnet, but he's still quite unfurnished.
'The stiff six at Ascot has got to be perfect and he's shown he can handle a big occasion, he's got experience of the track so hopefully he'll run well. We rate him very highly, he was one of our nicest colts and a nice early type.
'We've plenty of others in the pipeline that aren't as forward as him, but as far as the early types go, he was always high on the list.'

O'Brien did not disguise his admiration of Albert Einstein after the race. 'We always thought he was very special,' he said. 'He's probably as fast a horse as we've ever seen work. We thought at home that he would be fine at six, seven or a mile and he still could be but Ryan said he's very quick. 'The plan was to come here and go to the Coventry. Hopefully he comes out of it well and his mind goes the right way. He's just a very, very fast horse. 'I'd say there is a lot to come the way he behaves. He was strong enough today. In Ascot you'd like him to gear down a little bit early and that means he'll have more at the end. 'The only thing thats going to do that is racing and hopefully everything will go well when he goes back." He continued: 'He's very exciting. From the first day he worked we always felt he was very different. He's 540kgs for a two-year-old and he doesn't look that big but he's just physically very strong.' However O'Brien confirmed on Tuesday that punters will have to wait for Albert Einstein's next racecourse appearance as he ruled him off the Royal Ascot trail. A statement posted by Coolmore said: 'Gr.3 Marble Hill Stakes winner Albert Einstein unfortunately will not run at Royal Ascot due to a sprained joint. He will have an easy three weeks.'

York Eyecatcher Do Or Do Not one to keep onside
Ed Walker's Space Blues colt left a beaten debut well behind him in the six-furlong affair, matching strides with Archie Watson's more experienced Tadej and missing out by just a neck on the line. Walker's string are in superb form and the well-regarded Tadej is headed next for the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot, where a good run would make Do Or Do Not look a decent sort himself.
