Two new coronavirus cases were reported in Gurugram city on Monday. A 51-year-old woman from Sushant Lok phase 1 and a 30-year-old woman residing at South City were confirmed positive for the virus, a health department official said.
The Sushant Lok resident was fully vaccinated and had recently returned from Georgia, while the South City resident had recently returned from Bengaluru. Both patients have been kept in home isolation, the official added.

According to the health department, there are six coronavirus patients currently in the city. The department has instructed people not to take cold and cough symptoms lightly and get themselves tested immediately.
Gurugram Chief Medical Officer Dr Alka Singh said that a special ward has been opened in the hospital to test and treat coronavirus patients.
All government and private hospitals have been ordered to make arrangements for medicines, oxygen cylinders and other medical equipment, she said.
'All the patients are stable and are being monitored. The health department has also started contact tracing. Private hospitals have been instructed to remain alert,' Dr Singh added.

Six new coronavirus cases were detected in Haryana's Gurgaon district Tuesday, with five recoveries and the number of active cases at 17. On Tuesday, 163 samples were tested in the district, and the cumulative number of cases detected this year is now 34. Five of the positive cases detected on Tuesday have no recent travel history and involve a 31-year-old male resident of Sector 42, a 29-year-old male resident of Sector 56, a 32-year-old female resident of Sector 49, a 32-year-old male resident of Sector 67, and a 35-year-old male resident of Sector 37C. A 50-year-old male resident of Hayatpur, who tested positive, had recently travelled to Haridwar. In Faridabad, 130 samples were tested, and five COVID-positive cases were detected. Three patients recovered from the disease, and the active and cumulative number of cases in the district stood at 12 and 26, respectively. There have been no deaths yet in Haryana, and all patients in Gurgaon are under home isolation. The health department had earlier stated that the situation was under control and that there was no cause for worry with the rise in mild symptomatic COVID-19 cases. 'All the pandemic-era precautionary measures and advisories, including mask-wearing, have been reissued and reiterated to hospitals. For now, we have made available 500 beds across isolation wards in government hospitals and other sites for any rise in serious cases. We will increase the number if and when the need arises. We have told hospitals to carry out tests for those showing symptoms. There is no reason to panic, the situation is well under control,' Dr Alka Singh, Chief Medical Officer, Gurgaon, told The Indian Express last month. 'There is no need to panic. It is an endemic (disease) now. Many people with symptoms are likely to test positive,' Dr Singh added. Following a recent spike in COVID-19 cases in Southeast Asia, India too has seen fresh cases, with a majority of them being reported from Kerala, Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Tamil Nadu. However, most of the cases are mild and not associated with severity or mortality. Around the time the second wave of COVID-19 peaked in India, the Haryana government launched a door-to-door screening programme in rural areas across the state on May 15, 2021. Till June 3 of that year, over 1.66 crore people were screened, which was roughly around 60 per cent of the state's 2.91 crore population. In May of that year, the transmission rate of the disease had been found to be rapidly increasing in rural areas. A survey conducted by the state's health department on COVID-19 patients admitted in various hospitals revealed that 68 per cent were from urban areas, while 32 per cent of the patients were from rural areas. During the second wave, Haryana had imposed a one-week lockdown on May 3, which was extended multiple times. However, as fresh cases continued to dip, the state government gradually relaxed various curbs.

Chief Minister to lay foundation stone for ₹873-crore health projects in Yadgir on June 14
Ajay Singh, chairman of the Kalyana Karnataka Region Development Board (KKRDB), announced that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah would lay the foundation stone for various health projects under the 'Arogya Aavishkar' initiative in Yadgir on June 14. Speaking to presspersons at Aiwan-e-Shahi guest house in Kalaburagi on Tuesday, Mr. Singh said that All-India Congress Committee president Mallikarjun Kharge, Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao, Yadgir district In-charge Minister Sharanabasappa Darshanapur, other Ministers and MLAs will also participate in the event. 'Arogya Aavishkar is an initiative being implemented by KKRDB in association with the Department of Health and Family Welfare to improve health infrastructure in Kalyana Karantaka. As part of the initiative, the foundation stone for various health projects will be laid at the Yadgir district stadium on June 14,' Dr. Singh said. The projects include the establishment of 24 new primary health centres (PHCs), 10 community health centres (CHCs), seven urban PHCs, and four urban CHCs. Additionally, the bed capacity in 25 CHCs will be increased from 30 to 50, while in six CHCs it will be expanded from 30 to 100. 'The bed capacity of the CHC in Kamalapur will be raised to 100. Moreover, nine taluk hospitals will see an increase in beds from 100 to 150. Two sub-divisional hospitals will be upgraded to district-level hospitals. The KKRDB will allocate approximately ₹400 crore for 88 specific projects, including the procurement of ambulances and the establishment of dialysis centres,' he said. Referring to the State government's budgetary allocation of ₹5,000 crore to the KKRDB, Dr. Singh urged MLAs from Kalyana Karnataka to submit micro and macro-level development action plans for their constituencies by June 30. 'If we spend the entire amount released, we can demand the remaining amount. Early submission of action plans will enable the expenditure of up to ₹4,500 crore within this financial year,' he said. Dr. Singh also announced that the Chief Minister will lay the foundation stone for 16 Praja Soudhas (taluk administrative complexes) to be built at ₹8.6 crore each at newly-created taluks. 'As many as 18 new taluks have been created in Kalyana Karnataka, and 16 of them will have Praja Soudhas. The KKRDB and the Revenue Department will contribute ₹4.3 crore each to every building. The total outlay will be ₹137.6 crore. Mr. Siddaramaiah would lay the foundation stone to these taluk administrative complexes at a public meeting in Raichur on June 19,' Dr. Singh said.

'Bharat Gen', Indigenous AI-Based Model For Indian Languages, Launched

Developed under the National Mission on Interdisciplinary Cyber-Physical Systems (NM-ICPS) and implemented through TIH Foundation for IoT (Internet of Things) and IoE (Internet of Everything) at IIT Bombay, Bharat Gen aims to revolutionize AI development across India's linguistic and cultural spectrum, Mr Singh said. The initiative is supported by the Department of Science and Technology (DST) and brings together a consortium of leading academic institutions, experts, and innovators. "It not only builds trust but has a placebo-like psychological effect, enabling better care in remote regions connected with superspeciality hospitals across India," he said. Mr Singh emphasised the transformative role of Generative AI in grassroots governance, citing the integration of multilingual feedback systems into platforms like CPGRAMS to enhance citizen engagement and grievance redressal.
